Alternative Energy Technology and Is China Communist or not? Feat Trolls & Idiots

WHY DOES A ROAD NEED TO HAVE LEDS ON IT???

Someone explain to me why we aren’t using geothermal power?
What is keeping something like that from progressing?

Why aren’t we using thorium salt reactors?

I actually had a dream recently that something that looks like that (no lights) replaced all the pavements and roads everywhere, and I’ve never seen this before. there were even a lot of speed bumps where it all merged together. usually my dreams predict real constructions that are made years and years later, so I’m pretty sure this is a small taste of the future. Dr Kaku was saying about different stages of civilizations (Kardashev scale), the one above our current stage uses the power of the sun.

though it being technological it may mean anyone with the power can home in on someone on the street and burst them into flames. Solar powered cities may not be a worldwide trend in this case

most people are extremely wasteful with their finances. If people weren’t chasing the “American dream” and instead focused on passing down homes, and allowing more family to live with them and such, most people could live a very comfortable life on minimum wage and have all the time they need to do the things they really care about.

Honestly nobody really needs to make 100k a year. Its wasteful, and theres too much shit to buy in the market place.

The average American sized house could probably be useful for more than just husband, wife and 1-2 kids. Especially when you get into the suburbs where people have these massive houses that could fit 3 families. Why are kids encouraged to move out and buy another house? Its silly. If I had kids that were of age I would tell them to just stay at home as long as they want. Everyone wins when we spread the bills out among more people

solar road ways, and complicated energy sources sound nice but nothing beats living simply and ending consumerism. seriously, ending capitalism(especially consumerism) in favor of a more rational economic system would have a bigger impact on the environment than trying to make this wasteful way of life continue, but with magic technology, that may or may not meet demands.

So lets take a look at the world’s air pollution then. Which countries have lots of air pollution.

What do you know, China is leading the world in air pollution. Maybe whether a country is capitalistic or communistic doesn’t have an effect on air pollution.

China is not communist, they are entirely capitalist. They have markets, private property, classes, and a state. There are no other words to describe that other than capitalism.

Calling china communist would be like me starting a socialist party, with socialist ideas, and calling it the capitalist party. One key aspect of propaganda and the manufacturing of consent is giving yourself a nice name that people support. Communism and Socialism both have a long history of people using the terms and bringing in something else. Dont get so caught up in party names.

China = Capitalism.

The China that we know today was founded and grown up right on the backs of our capitalist society.

Because the word “nuclear” is associated with “mass destruction” and “Chernobyl”, rather than “clean energy”.
Which is stupid as fuck.

exactly, its so easy for a oil drilling platforms to convert to Geothermal plants

Like @Necrotrophic said, they ain’t communist anymore.
China is a good lesson on what happens when a country goes holy shit capitalistic…with NOTHING in the way of regulations holding them back.

Solar power not charging up that anti-brony death ray fast enough for you?

Because no one wants to touch Low Tier God.

They do not have free markets, citizens do not own property. They have government subsidized businesses. Businesses that bribe the government to get things done. Government to heavily tax any foreign competition and only let people do as the government says. Also blocked all internet access for the majority of the population. Foreigners can get around it with VPNs but China shuts those down as well so people have to keep switching up their VPNs.

Lets not also ignore that most of the populace is poor due to communism so the government and the people have no choice but to rely on cheap and heavily pollutant fossil fuels.

they have markets. capitalism isnt about free markets. only certain types of capitalism are about free markets (these systems manage to be even more juvenile and brutal than the more mainstream ones). im not about to be tricked into “but only completely deregulated markets is what capitalism is!!!1” its not true. capitalism is about making profit from property. china is capitalist and has literally never been communist, ever.

"They have government subsidized businesses"
If you knew anything about this subject you wouldn’t have brought this up.

The United States currently pays around $20 billion per year to farmers in direct subsidies as “farm income stabilization”[12][13][14] via farm bills. These bills pre-date the economic turmoil of the Great Depression with the 1922 Grain Futures Act, the 1929 Agricultural Marketing Act, and the 1933 Agricultural Adjustment Act creating a tradition of government support.

the internet? you brought up internet censorship? do you even know what capitalism is?

Capitalism is an economic system based on private ownership of the means of production and their operation for profit.[1][2][3] Characteristics central to capitalism include private property, capital accumulation, wage labor, voluntary exchange, a price system, and competitive markets

You have to dig down deep enough for it to get hot enough to get power. Digging is hard and expensive. Meanwhile fossil fuels need about the same amount of drilling but get a lot hotter.

Geothermal energy is reliable and pays off well in the long run, it’s just hard to decide to make the downpayment to actually start.

I don’t know much about the state of the art because geology was always boring to me (we had a geophysics lab but all they did was study soil and cracks in rocks), but surely there’s progress in the field.

Same equipment is involved, same methods

The problem with geothermal is that there are no returns on investment for a long time. Hemce why they arent more popular, and people who build thrm usually find natural hotspots that are easily accessible

Im sure the former residents of Fukushima dont think its stupid as fuck. Places that are geologically active like Japan, NZ etc have very legitimate concerns about the safety of nuclear energy.

Well, if it IS your house, and you own the land, you can just pave over your lawn/backyard… I don’t think anyone can stop you.

But who the hell would do that? You love grass, and you know it. :smirk:

I have nothing else to add to this intriguing debate over current energy gathering methods… :lightbulb:
