Alt.games.sf2 - where are they now?

Seeing all the old folk at Evo East got me thinking about the old usenet group alt.games.sf2. Bringing up the topic to Seth, NKI, Masaka, Spence (dublo7), Bill Gould, and several others brought up a list of names. Some people in the list have already been talked about, but will be put in this list because I’d think some of the other old schoolers would want to know how their old friends and rivals are doing.

  • Lord BBH
  • sparatik
  • David Boudreau
  • Julien Beasley
  • Chocobo
  • Goodroots
  • Esturado Enriquez
  • Kikin
  • Andrew “BLT” Ward
  • “Master John” Crespo
  • Jim Sejas
  • Ric “Phatsaqs” Collins
  • Vince Delpino (scratch that, he showed up to Evo East)
  • The Finnie brothers
  • Marwan

Can anyone fill in the blanks?

I’ll probably spell his name wrong, but I wanna know what ever happened to…

ONAJE EVERETT!!!

AFAIK Onaju quit after graduating college. BBH is still puttering around, and is on here I think.

Onaje got married years ago and dropped out of the scene, I heard.

Lord BBH still posts on here.

sparatik used to make occasional appearances, haven’t seen him on here in awhile though.

Chocobo still hangs around in IRC.

David Boudreau, kikin, Master John, Chris Finnie, and blt used to be on here a few years ago but all seem to have disappeared.

That’s about all I know.

blt joined the military, Navy IIRC. Kinda dropped out of the scene after awhile. I ran into him playing Warcraft3 from time to time. He was good but neither of us were top players in that, just people who played for fun.

Julien dropped off the face of the Earth as far as I know. I ran into him a couple times on the Diplomacy Pouch in a couple of online Dip games a few years ago. We ran a couple of dirty alliances in that that nobody saw coming! =) Other than that, haven’t heard from him. He was in Japan for awhile IIRC.

And yeah, Onaje did the real life thing. Haven’t seen that guy since CvS2 came out when he randomly showed up at SHGL, stayed for maybe 15 minutes, played a couple games, said hi to a couple people and then disappeared forever.

kikin is still around. When he gets his ban on IRC lifted, he shows up for a few days, annoys people for a bit, then gets banned again. He showed up to Evo last year (throwing around $1000 chips and making my eyes get all big) and might show up this year just for the gambling.

Can’t be of much more help. No real answers there, just a few "last I seen them"s.

Good one Nick!

How about the infamous I@I.com and Milo D. Cooper?

Haha, I actually kinda remember I@I.com but have no idea there.

I don’t think Milo ever even posted on SRK, last I remember of him on AGSF2 was him claiming that the PS2 was going to be more powerful than the latest PCs and other crap. His buddy Bob Painter has posted on SRK a few times IIRC and been to Evo (don’t know which ones).

Here’s another one: StiltMan. He used to be a frequent poster on here, seems to have stopped with that though but still attends a Marvel tournament from time to time.

I see Estuardo on AIM, but I think he pretty much has retired from SF…Haven’t seen him in a bit though.

Didn’t know blt joined the military, was wondering where he dissapeared to

Milo’s doing OK. He was making pretty big money for awhile. Don’t know what his business was, but he had the nice car and big place thing. And I guarantee if he didn’t sell his place, he’s a millionaire right now. He was going to make a comeback when CvS2 came out. He came up to play a few times and seemed thrilled that Cammy was a whore. I think the last thing I heard from him was “yeah CvS2 looks fun, I’m gonna get back into games again”. And…he never did.

And Bob showed up to Evo last year…and sent me to losers in ST. Thanks Bob! I heard he would show up this year also.

As for Stilt, he’s still active. Posts a lot about Blackheart and is on IRC frequently. He moved to the Bay Area and is playing about as much as ever.

Anyone?

Ps. TIME TRAVEL IS POSSIBLE

Who was the guy with the sig about how he’d get his lawyers to sue and fine ur ass if you sent him any spam emails?

Edit: Holy shit, Waleed ur alive!! Long time bro… I need to get back into SF! U still playing?

yeah, I’m still here, I just haven’t been posting that much. Amazed that anyone remembers me.

Onaje made a strange post on the Neo-Geo mailing list a while back, saying he’d quit fighting games forever for some religious reason.

Chocobo apparently only appears when SFA 2 is mentioned (he made a small comeback when the whole A2 vs. A3 debate was raging on a couple of months ago).

I’ve seen David Boudreau post on Sirlin’s website a few times somewhat recently. I met him up with him when I first moved to Boston, he and I went to a random arcade and played Hyper Fighting (for some reason they still had a HF machine, this was in like 2002!) We also played A3 a bit together when it first came out. IIRC on the first day A3 was in Boston I had a 21 game win streak with Sagat and he had a 26 game streak with Dhalsim.

That was the one and only day I was good at A3.

I used to see Scott Bradburn around up until a few years ago. I think he posted on IRC at least somewhat. Big dude who only played Sak and Chun.

Is see ChrisF post from time to time here. Not frequently though.

Milo worked on Everquest and I think for a while he worked on that game Vanguard made by the same people who made Everquest. He’s on their web page, no idea if it is current or not:

http://www.sigilgames.com/team/milocooper.html

I have no idea on their online presence, but for these people:

Estuardo randomly shows up at Springfield Mall in VA. Plays mostly 3s and low tiers.

Kikin showed up once to a c3 tourney in VA to meet up with old Gametime heads, but I haven’t seen him since. Also Sparatik made an extremely random ass appearance at the first c3 after alpha anthology was released in America to play a3 casuals. He raped everyone with his A-Blanka, then left.

I think many people don´t know or remember this page: http://javi3422.tripod.com/frames.html
it was the original #Capcom web site (good stuff)

that was the original web site before shoryuken.com

Dave B’s a friend of mine. He moved to Japan about 7 years ago and has been there since, which is kinda funny given the massive flamewar he had with Bob Painter & Matt F. on the American pronouciation of Ryu (the “Re: Katana” thread). He plays a fair amount of ST and from the sound of it does pretty well. He’s currently working on a game and posts occasionally on Sirlin’s site.

I recently read the MiST-ing of Milo again, too good. If you remeber how Milo used to post it’s pretty funny, and can still be found on google groups.

Holy crap! Me with hair!

Looks like tripod never dies.

Hah and you were the big anime dude as well… hah and you said keep it real

Lol I remember this page… back when shit like CornerTrap.com “YOU CAN’T ESCAPE!” existed

God damn, that is some classic shit…
