Forgetting somebody?
Ha ha I remember that MiSTing, good times.
I remember Ming was a decent player at some point then devolved into a pure gimmick poster. It was funny to see him post things that hadn’t been true in 3 or more years, like talking about strats in ST that only worked in WW. He would pop in once every couple of months just to flame people.
Edit: a.g.sf2 was odd. About half the discussion was very in-depth game related, and the rest was just incredibly retarded flaming that usually started out as something game related and then grew into some incredible monster. (The worst being the “Storm flying off the top of the screen” shit that went on forever when the only thing in dispute was that ‘flying off the top of the screen’ didn’t technically refer to Storm’s flying) That said, the signal to noise ratio in those days was literally 20 times better than now. There were tons of useful and interesting posts all the time. These days any actualy game discussion is confined to just a couple of threads. a.g.sf2 was basically the 5 most active fighting game discussions here, along with some flaming.
[/nostalgia]
Edit 2:
Ha ha, after poking around for about 5 minutes (I did search for StiltMan knowing that would be entertainment) I found a great discussion about wakeups, meaties, etc.
It’s basically the same discussion we just had with the Wolfes in the ST thread. The a.g.sf2 thread is from 98…lol.
I was a lurker during the alt.games.sf2 days and still a lurker today.
Ahhh yes…Jenn Dolari, the first lesbian SF girl. Although she isn’t exactly what you will consider a “hot lesbian” per say…
Sparatik was at evo 2k5, basically his last tournament, he had some personal shit going on around that time and basically wasnt into it anymore, all the games played in DC area he messes around in but doesnt play that seriously so that prob didnt help, he’s still working with a contractor for the gov afaik. Most of the VA people from that list moved on but still show up randomly as hell.
When I was living in Tokyo, the Japanese ST players asked me if I know Julien Beasley, and I said that I only know the name. Then they said, “Oh man, when he drinks…hahahaha…good lord…”
I didn’t press them for any additional details, though I probably should have.
The last time I have seen BLT was at a Charlotte Tournament back in 2002/2003… didn’t know anything about him joining the military though. He was hanging out with Eric Valencia and Darrick Perez most of the time each time I saw him.
Darrick owes me a diablo ii cd key… bastard.
another semi-lurker checking in (had a diff handle though)
lol i demand a jinston update.
I sit in an office next to Rick Collins!
Sparatik showed up at a C3 tournament when they were playing Hyper SFA. He seemed to be doing pretty well.
I still keep up with Bob Painter (and through him, James Romedy).
Anybody remember Allen J. Klein? Wonder where he ever disappeared to.
As for Julien, the last time I saw him was at the first SBO. What I remember most was watching the CVS2 finals with him and him leaning over and asking “Is Bison supposed to be able to go through fireballs like that?” He hadn’t paid much attention to CVS2 at the time I guess!
Wow really!? Tell him I said Hi!
Last I heard he met some chick, got married, had 2 kids and now just plays random console games for a living :looney:
I can’t believe someone remembers the flame war I had with Boudreau.
When I was in Japan for SBO, the craziest thing was when he walked up to me and said hello. Of all the places in the world for me to bump into that guy!
Anyone know what ever happened to Ken Tanaka? I kept in touch with him for a while but then he disappeared off the face of the Street Figher planet. Although I pretty much have as well, minus the annual appearance at EVO.
I found some ancient a.g.sf2 posts i saved on a floppy disk buried somewhere in a pile of junk in my garage and read through some of them. Talk about some old but good memories!
Lurker here…
Onaje was all into Jesus
And Jinston said that you can air block Karin’s low fierce.
Cammy White was really a dood. Gross.
And other random stuff.
I remember Allen J. Klein, he was at Cornell at the same time I was. Never saw him once a.g.sf2 died down.

Hello hello! Yes I’m around in spirit, though physically residing in Japan these days as Toilet said, but I often forget to keep up with the srk forums, and usually just harass Sirlin on his blog instead. Always good to hear from the agsf2 crowd… I can be reached at my gmail account, it’s fawnix at. If any of you ever visit Japan please let me know. If you’re on LinkedIn let’s connect there too. btw Todd, a few times I tried reaching you to find out how things were going but must have had an old email address (fwiw my dynamicsite.com would have worked until about 2 or 3 months before you posted this!).
Fortunately there have been some regular tournaments happening in Anniversary Edition nearby (not on the level of Tokyo/Osaka but a few very good players), and it looks like they’ll be held monthly for the time being- hope that lasts.
Indeed, how ironic is it that I wound up teaching English (including some …linguistics … ) for a while. I had known Julien Beasley was here, but never got around to meeting him except for when “Team USA” came (during the fall of 2001? or so). Then later in 2003/4, when I saw Bob Painter that day at the MORE arcade, I think Kuni said that Julien moved back, or moved to France, but wasn’t in Japan anymore.
As a small update from me, latest news is, I recently got a Japanese driver’s license, and endured all the of associated horse shit of that process. Before this I had been driving all around Japan for seven and a half years (on an Int’l license, technically you can’t do that after the first year of residence though). I even taught myself stick on a little mini I once drove. If you want the full story, or care for a link to pictures from things like go events and stuff I’ve been up to, just let me know. You know I like to write up a whole bunch of shit you’d rather skip anyways so you gotta let me know first before I write it.

Both Chris and Dave Finnie live in Vancouver now, in fact I went to college with Dave. lol
PhatSaqs can be found on Gaming Age forums from time to time.
Hm 2002? Wasn’t it before then (the A3 day?) Anyway I certainly remember that day we both first played A3- but if I recall correctly, I had 28 wins on my first try, as it was the longest win streak at that point in any game I had played. Not long after, I got up to 76 or something and that’s been my record since. Ah, the days before infinite juggles. 21 wins with Sagat is still pretty good regardless, if I remember his tiger shots take off more blocked than if they actually hit.
I wonder what happened to Scott. I think he works/ed for a game company called NetGames but don’t know much else.

He got married some years ago. For a while afterwards he would make an appearance at our hang-out (the white tower) once in a while, especially since some of the cabs there were his. Sometime later, however, the owner of the shop sold it and Marwan took back his cabs. Even though our hang-out was re-opened later (under new management), I don’t recall seeing Marwan there again. That’s life for you. His T-Hawk will always be fondly remembered lol.
