Every other player on Japanese PSN in G1 uses Cammy. It’s cool that its not one of The Regulars, but I am getting a little sick of her.
I’m in G2-C right now, and 85% of the time I play against Ryus, Kens, and Sagats. I’m not annoyed by it or anything because playing these characters so much I learned how to counter them. Not saying I win every match, but at least I am confidant in my strategy when I play them.
I totally agree with a lot of you, being shocked to see the rare characters. I played a great Gen and he owned me, taunted me through out the match. I didn’t mind, good for him, Gen is a tough character to master. I played a Sakura user who was pretty good too, friended them, then played a few more matches against them because they were good battles.
I main Blanka, but I picked up Rose for my secondary. She is very fun to play as, similar game to the shotos but has some really cool moves. I Picked her up just for the variety and it turns out I like using her.
This is exactly my point. Thank you for backing me up.
Except for Ken does suck. Well not suck, but he’s pretty down there on the tier list. His ultra is useless unless you FADC into it, or psychic a really bad move by your opponent. Ken is great as a rushdown character though, I’ll give him that much at least. But bottom line he just doenst have the weapons that Ryu/Sagat/Akuma does in this game.
I main Rufus and usually, in CM, I fight mostly Ken, then Ryu/Sagat, followed by Akuma. In the past few weeks I’ve noticed a lot more Balrogs, Guiles, and Blankas. Blanka being the most used of the three.
^^ ditto, and u know them Blanka’s are a pain in the a** for us.
Lol no. That Ken vs Ken match in the first video second game is hilarious to me. poking from sweep range, dping jump ins, kara tick, combo into fierce dp… ugh. Sure Edma is really fucking good but Ken as a character just seems so old hat. Sure it’s a useful and fancy hat, but Kens been around forever.
What is it with all the bitching about Sagat? Now I don’t really play SFIV but from the bit I have and the videos I’ve seen I’d say that Super Turbo O.Sagat and CvS2 Sagat are a lot better than this one. Sagat may be kinda cheesy but it’s nothing new and this version of him isn’t his best by any means.
Regarding Sagat:
It would be a stupid thing to say that Sagat doesn’t take skill. Despite his “god tierness” you still have to learn how to FADC -> Ultra consistently, learn how to zone with him correctly, etc.
I’m going to sound like a broken record, but I just do not have the same respect for a Sagat player as I do for other characters in the game. It’s pretty much fact that Sagat has EVERYTHING working for him and little to possibly nothing against him. He’s not weak in any area of the game and doesn’t have one bad match-up.
Now do I bitch and complain when a Sagat player whoops my ass? No, because despite them being a pro Sagat or a scrubby Sagat, a loss is a loss no matter what.
Now does it irk me just a little bit inside when I see a Sagat player win in a tourney or brag about his skills? Yeah…it definitely does I have to admit. :bgrin:
CvS2 Sagat cr.Fierce = DESTROYED! I still play cvs2…
True enough, but it’s also true that he only really needs to get two or three combos in and boom you’ve practically won the match.
Im not saying he’s OP, Im merely stating facts. Some people like using characters like Sagat because of the high damage output and difficult links. Other people like using lower tier characters and like trying twice as hard just to pull out a win. I know I know, play to win. But some people like feeling like they earned their win by using lower tier characters instead of picking the best character and winning
then there’s me, who finds a character who he likes using then he finds out he sucks ass because the characters he loathes have that many better tools (those characters being guile, rose, and vega, but i gave up that dream a long time ago for bison)
:bgrin: he touched a nerve! you know why that is right?
I’ve played you a few times in CE, heh.
His mixups sir. I wasn’t askin for critque of the way the players were playing but good job missing the point.
Wow you’re an idiot.
I basically inferred that Ken was boring, you showed me some videos basically saying “OMG BUT THE MIXUPS”
Fuck Kens mixups. I’d rather see abel canned mixups. There, I addressed your non-point. P.s. everyone can mixup that’s what crouches are for.
Thank you. The Sagats that don’t win these tournaments are usually the ones that complicate the great formula that Capcom has provided them. There entire offense should consist of Tiger, Tiger, F+RH, Tiger Uppercut FADC, Ultra, and fuck it TIGER EVERYTHING. That’s pretty much how every match goes. Granted he is slow as hell, and he does have difficult links (or so I’ve heard), and a poor crossup. But, allow me to respond to those. Sagat only needs to move forward during Tiger Knee, no other time. Any other time, let the Tiger at the Roundhouse reach them for you. The only “link” Sagat needs to worry about is Tiger Uppercut, FADC, Ultra. Fuck the cr.lk and cr.lp. If it start with TIGER, he don’t need to be starting a combo with it. And lastly, why would Sagat need a good crossup when he don’t need to jump. All the fights I see with Sagat, the opponent goes to him. Like I said, pretty simple formula. Pro or scrub, anybody who deviates from this formula is inviting a loss. If you lose with Sagat, it’s something that you’re doing wrong because it damn sure ain’t Sagat’s fault.
In addition to the “popular character” issue, there is also the “character pattern” a lot of people take when you keep beating them:
Ryu/Ken > Akuma > Sagat
It makes me chuckle when someone I’m beating badly online resorts to Sagat as a last ditch attempt to get a win off me. It’s fine if they actually know how to use him, but when it’s someone who generally sucks, they somehow think Mr. S-Tier is going to magically lead them to victory despite not having any skills. =)
i was surprised to fight rose twice in a row in championship mode today! i’ve once fought 8 ryu’s in a row… that was lame.
Lol it really tickles me when a player gets so defensive about Sagat.
Hasn’t this been talked about for ages? I find it really retarded to “justify” Sagat.
Accept it. Sagat is freaking great, he has mad tools, he has mad life points.
Noone is denying that it takes skill to win. Its rather stupid to argue this point.
OF COURSE it takes skill to win. It just takes significantly LESS skill to win with Sagat.
Most people who use Sagat just lacks the creativity to experiment with something else other than the tried and true. Same goes for the usual suspects i.e Ryu and what not.
I’ve already come to accept his superiority in this game. If a Sagat does win me, I just don’t respect him as much as when any other character wins me. (well, maybe except the 3P russian) Maybe if Capcom just reduced Sagats life points, people might not complain that much.
