Alpha Anthology *Capcom for the motherfucking WIN*

Chicken Blocking/ Airblock

Was playing with some friends last night and noticed you can attack after airblock. I can’t remember what IZM but it was a new IZM. I think in DS and Shin/Marvel IZM. Anyone found any good uses for it yet?

How do her unblockables in A2 work ? Like in A3, where they can’t block the shadows on wakeup ?
A2 Rose = SICK damage :wow:

Probably sounds a a bit naive, but wouldnt the CE chars be stopped by the 3S Ism characters? I mean, they do have a lot of damage, but their mix up is nowhere near as complex and what 3S/CvS2 parrying characters have to deal with. There are no overheads, supers, unblockables, hit confirms, etc. Yeah, it is a gamble to parry, but having the number of stuff to look out for go down in number might make the CE chars a bit of parry bait.

Green S-Ism > Sagat

a2 rose still cant do much vs ce bison.

if rose tries to chip him during soul illusion, she eats a free psycho crusher and if the soul spiral during soul illusion doesnt knock bison down, she eats another free psycho crusher

I think HSFA is like HSF. Much like you couldn’t tech hit the WW-Super characters if you have had select Super Turbo the same applies here. The rules change when u put an A3 character atleast when I play in A-ism, they don’t get juggle they hit the ground. Now since I don’t play V-ism I don’t know how that works with the couch cancels. But what about the air throws of a3 characters against certain characters? Bison may not need to jump his head stomp goes higher then most of the casts jumps. Then with the knee press and psycho crusher he doesn’t need to jump, he can play a safe ground game.

That’s in DS mode

He’s right. And parries wouuldn’t work that well neither I assume, gotta watch out for tick throw setups

I agree with you for the most part. I played CE Sagat yesterday he is REDICULOUS! However, I played against Z1 Adon a few times and got a run for my money. Z1 Dan is also rediculous I see what yall are talking about. I’m also liking Red-IZM Charlie a lot, seems really solid. Also if Z2 CC’s chip CE characters as much as they say that might be good as well. Red-IZM Ken is the greatest turtle ever

Im obviously missing something cuz I dont remember dan being all that hot in a1. Sure he was radicaly different then he was in games after. But still… I mean what was… so good about him? His sweep and alpha counter knocked you like full screen which, say if you were ryu or something would be good. But umm not like he has a full screen fireball to exploit that kinda sweep. His hurricane kick comboed better I think, so I guess thats good. His beat em up super looked more random and cool, and did a shit load of damage. And he had the funky roundhouse…

But yea umm yea I guess im missing something cuz I still dont remmeber dan being all that hot and shit.

He has like no recovery on most stuff, chain into RH hurricane takes CE-like damage, and a good DP + shoto jumping Fierce. Actually his AC knocks you like about a little out of sweep range and you can attempt crossover chain after that if I remember correctly.

If i remember correctly, yes he didn’t have many moves and what not including a full fireball in A1…but what did have was power in hits, his normal hits did more damage than any other character in the game.

I found this video that showcases some of the Alpha 3 glitches in one of the arcade versions of A3 (the video shows the version number at the beginning, but I can’t really make it out). These would be some good glitches to test for on Anthology.

Those videos really helped me with my V-ism game - I’m lovin it!

I can understand it being DS-ISM, because in Vampire Savior/DS3 at least (not sure about Hunter/DS2), you aren’t bound to the usual “one action per jump” rule of most Street Fighter games. If you threw out an attack early enough when you jumped, you could throw out another one after the first finished, all before you landed again.

nice vid. anyone know where i can download it?

A1 Dan was horrible. IIRC his only chain combo was something like low jab->low roundhouse.

I’m not sure how A1 Dan was “good” considering he was probably the worst character in the game.

Edit: In pre-ST SF games you will never hear an SRK come out and have it be thrown. It just doesn’t happen. In ST it may be possible, I don’t know.

In the Alpha games it is very possible. Birdie is a good person to try with because it seems that his throw can grab people a bit out of the air (or something like that). In A1 it was quite common to hear the SRK sound effect, see Ryu start to rise off the ground then get sucked into Birdie’s special throw. It’s not uncommon at all.

In pre-ST games SRKs are invincible from the moment they start to their peak. They cannot be hit or thrown, period. If it actually comes out (allowing for the edge case where SPD and SRK are done on exactly the same frame) it will rise all the way to the peak, every time, without fail.

I’ve forgotten how bad it is to have a great game “sneak” up on you.

SFAA’s release date almost slipped my mind until I checked Gamespot yesterday. Now June 13th is a light year away.

Just a theory, but could it be possible sun burned Sakura was an example of the colour edit?

Ummmm no. Read my post above. crossover Forward, low Jab->low Fierce into RH hurricane takes like %40 I think. And he has good normals. RH is stupid good. Good DP and no recover on supers. Jab DP has ok recovery as well.
