It is always nice to see some game play no matter what. I am going to criticize by habit, but don’t take it bad. It is just my input on the matches.
OMG… you call that rusty??
He can’t even do a custom combo correctly until he played for the n times Charlie in V-ISM (check that Karin custom combo he does… it is incredible!! I never seen that before)
He got hit by a perfect during one Cody/Charlie game!!
He realized after losing at least 10 games that he is better off using A-ISM than V-ISM.
He keep on trying to do the flash kick at close range against a Cody, but miss(=dodge).
He cannot do “j.HP, c.MP, flash kick HK”, so he ends up replacing the flash kick by sonic boom.
Your Cody and Charlie are gods, but your Akuma and Gen are sooo horrible.
His Charlie seem to be the only character really worth watching. He seems to have some kind of strategy how to play Sakura and Karin too, but he keeps on missing every single custom combo. I think he was better off picking X-ISM or A-ISM.
I am really interested to see more of your matches in SFA3. Can you send me a link or a page where I can go and watch all your matches? Some of them are really good, but this one is just dumb. The only good thing about this one is to learn how to use Charlie.
Hey thanks for the comments they’re appreciated. I’m open to criticism especially when i can get something out of it.
yeah when i say rusty i mean 7 months out of practice rusty. Think thats why the customs were dodgy in places. I got stuck with a pad so i was making do, missing my c.forward > forward ruffian kick etc.
Haha yeah my akuma sucked in that replay but i tend only to mess around with the shotos. I got some VCs but usually end up dying trying to get them in. I thought my Gen was ok probably would have looked tigher if i had my chains supers 100% but yeah bit sloppy.
I’ll have a search around today see if i can put together a replay pack thats worth watching. Ive got some online matches of me playing vryu that are good.
Do you actually use winkawaks146 to play SFA3 online? I still don’t like much the keyboard handling compared to Nebula, but it doesn’t seem to be as bad as it used to be.
Yeah kawaks is the more popular choice in europe for sfa3. I think its down to how kawaks handles lag. I prefer the frameskip approach opposed to the slowing the game down.
I wouldn’t know about how each emulator handles keyboard input i use a magic box adapter + sc2 stick.
If you PM me your email address i have a zip of replays you might like watching.
Ok peoples. X-Chuck? I really think hes solid, his normals are just that damn good IMO. I know he prolly loses for free to certain chars(which is ok, sometimes you can overcome the odds) and that V- or A- Chuck are way more versatile and are the better isms for him. Im just wondering who? My guesses would be the usual suspects. (sim-v-akuma-vsak, general V-ism sillyness) but who else? Just wondering so i can judge if hes worth really pouring a lot of effort into and what to look out for. Keep in mind that ive played V-Chuck for a couple of years, so my Chuck is decent. Against people mind you, not the cpu >=)
I tried again Kawaks and got the last version 1.46. I must say the controls are getting much better somehow. I can finally pull an uppercut without too much hard time. I had to use macro to get auto fire (==>I don’t want to break my keyboard too fast).
I also tried to record a game, but it ends up messed up. Is there a way to fix it? If not, which version of Kawaks is stable for the recording part.
The latest version of kawaks is currently 1.47b and i’ve never had a problem recording replays with any version.
The only thing that ever messed me up was when we recorded those replays with the cpu clock wrong and you have to change it back to 15mhz or it will lose sync. Make sure you change your cpu frequency back to 11.8mhz and save settings to ini. Then recording / playback should be ok.
I want to know why so many people try to use keyboard to play SF on pc? Is it a preference thing? because i remember sf being played with a stick ^^ It’s such a good series of games, so perfectly emulated, with netplay possibilties. If you can afford a PC you can afford a cheap pad. Or better yet, an adapter that lets you use Jap saturn pads /playstation pads /sticks.
If Kawaks is giving you problems, recording on Final burn Alpha is easier as you can name your files.
X-chuck is solid i think his solid footsie game combined with 120% damage is harsh. Crouch cancelled J.fierce X 2, c.strong, somersualt justice (corner) + cps chain. He lacks a few things but makes up for them in other ways. would probably really struggle more against a good V player as opposed to a good A player.
jab, short is perfect timing for pre-charge boom btw so if you’re in fireball fight whiff those 2 moves and you know you have boom ready.
yeah but i would imagine you dash better on a keyboard cuz you use kkk and ppp buttons to eliminate all human error right? granted i know most keyboards and only handle a couple keys pressed at the same time, but using buttons such as ppp is considered cheating on my end since now you can never mess up a triangle dash and such, eliminating mistakes that the opponent can take advantage of. thats one reason why i hate playing online. everyone uses shortcut keys to work around their weaknesses. just an opinion
i admit i have to use shortcut keys for activations and 3p 3ks simply because…they won’t come out otherwise. i never found 3p or 3k button presses to be a problem even on stick, but given that i only have kb, i have to use what’s available. also, whenever i’ve had problems tri-dashing its almost always due to the fact that the diagonals were shady on the cabinet not because i have fat fingers that cna’t hit the buttons correctly
ryu: yeah man, i understand using shortcut buttons on keyboards. but i think its bullshit on a 6button face pad or on a stick. now its become cheating. might as well just program combo macros so you dont mess those up to. you know what im saying? since its the same thing. but i do understand why some people use it for. but for those with 6-button face pads and sticks are fucking scrubs with it IMO
I mainly use 2 shortcuts: 3P and 3K… and rarely 360. I used to be able to do the latter without a shortcut, but that tends to destroy my hand and the keyboard… doing a 720 is doable but way harder and more painful.
However there are cases where I believe people need a shortcut for half-circle because somehow it is HARD to pull on Kawaks!! On nebula, I can pull all of these moves, and even a 360 without too much problem.
But yeah!! You are right about 3P and 3K: It does help a lot. I keep on mess-up my Gen in the arcade because I am not used to press all 3 punches/kick and end up doing something else, but I cannot miss something like that on PC (well actually I still can, but that’s a different issue). That’s why my arcade gaming style is fairly defensive, whereas my PC gaming style is extremely offensive.
However the result is about the same!! When I play survival mode, I still cannot win in the arcade because I mess up the combos, and I cannot win on PC because I am a little over too offensive… and when I do, the computer get nutz and start to do all kind of weird shit I never seen it do before.
BTW, would you be interested to see my current best recorded game of survival on PC expert mode with Gen(my main character)? I got killed by Akuma, huge thanks to fucking ryu.
Maybe you could give me some advice how to play better to actually win…
Anyhow, I would be very interested to see some of you guys recorded kawaks games like Sabre, Temujin, TS, mondu_the_fat, bushin187 and Muskau… just to name a few
Would be glad to post matches somewhere if i had them. The PC I have is from like 1996, and uses Windows 3.1, so no post-16-bit emulators for me. I can’t even uses it to get online, because it doesn’t have a modem. I use the DC for that. thank god I got that keyboard…
as far as survival mode, the only character I can really beat it with is Ryu. it always turns out to be more of a patience thing than anything else anyway, but yeah, since gen doensn’t have such an easy and ridiculous redizzy, or a VC that the CPU will always get hit by, I’ll give some nonspecific advice.
Just basic stuff… The more points you earn, the more life you get back. So finishing wth supers is really, really good. Especially considering you get less and less health back as you go. Keep an eye on the timer for the same reason. And memorize CPU patterns. That can get hard with characters you don’t play often (ie Rog), but if you know when Ryu is gonna throw that fireball, that’s obviosly gona help you a lot. Sometimes characters like Akuma or Cammy stat acting all smart randomly, but if you can land your combos or pokes, or however your character gets damage, you’ll usually be fine, even if it takes forver.
uh yeah, that advice sorta sucked…as a matter of fact, just play A-Ryu.
