X-Rose’s super beats it I believe.
airthrows:
Vega’s KK airthrow is pretty good afaik.
I hate Gen counters. When I used it (and I do a lot), it sometimes hits and sometimes does not work against the same move. It doesn’t matter what style I am using, both style counters seem completely unrealiable.
Personally I would add Gen to the super list, but I dunno much about the other character supers beside Gen. The supers of Chun Li A-ISM and Adon X-ISM are also pretty good.
WTF??
http://www2.capcom.co.jp/zero3m/zenkoku/arcade_rank/index.html
Gen in Z-ISM?? Is he really that good in Z-ISM?
I agree with everything except for the airtrhow. How is charlie shoulderdrop better than sim airthrow ? I never had any trouble with it. I guess I should have included honda and vega too, but I think sim’s airthrow is ridiculous ( so abusable). Plz explain.
And most of the c.fierce char where there because there fierce is horizontal.
Off question:
Akuma does his custom combo against Ken (for example). Ken is in the corner, just got up and doesn’t have any super bar (=cannot counter or super). What is the best way to screw up or reduce the damage of Akuma’s custom combo?
Hit your opponent over the head. Tire irons do well.
Seriously, which combo would you be trying to defend against? If it’s the corner crusher, then simply try to jump. If you’re opponent is the type who can pull off the crusher flawlessly, then you won’t be able to jump (it also means there’s nothing you can do anyway). If your opponent makes a small mistake in the combo, then you’ll be able to jump up, hopefully screwing up his timing even if you manage to get hit.
How about letting yourself getting hit in the air or crunching, after Akuma does some particular move that supposed to always come up?
i like charlies punch throw as well good air rest, i dont see how much more abusable sims air throw is from sagats air thorw they both chunk u at the distance where they both can operate from the best…
i also like gens c.hp in both styles but thats just me. the crane can be a good anti vc as iv seen if people miss time.
ps i also like adons, punch air throw, i dunno why >_<;;
Best anti-air is prolly Gens waterfall kick, or Karins standing FP
1.Gen Soryuu: High priority poke that also doubles as an anti air
2.Sagat(His best normal)
3.Sim(both versions are extremely useful)/ Rolento(great reach and good patterns)
I pretty much agree with this. But not necessarily in that order.
cody (stone trajectory)
ryu ( fast fireball  )
charlie ( fast recovery )
1.Akuma
2.Dhalsim
3.Sakura
Very few characters have bad cross ups in A3 and the majority of the cast can land deep and hard to block cross ups. I would rank cross up effectiveness on what the character can do upon landing one.
In no particular Order:
Sakura: she can set up a deadly cross up loop(cross up forward-> low shorts-> fierce dp x n) that’s very difficult to escape. She can often win matches by using this alone.
Ken: He has a similar loop(cross up forward-> stand fierce-> strong dp x n)
Karin: Ditto(cross up forward-> low shorts-> rekkas-> slide x n), but with the added bonus that the opponent
doesn’t have a chance to roll AND she can continue into a VC.
Ken’s strong dp: enables him to go into the aformentioned cross up loop.
Gen’s dp+k: Options galore
Rose’s Level 3 Aura Soul Throw: Okay, the damage can be reduced slightly, but its range and speed are incredible.
Chun’s Level 3 Senretsu Kyaku: Great anti-fb and easy to combo.
Balrog’s 3 Level Crazy buffalo: Massive frame eater, extremely quick great for punishing seemingly-safe-when-blocked moves. Its only disadvantage is a lack of invincible frames making traveling through fireballs at a far distance(Ala A3 Chun or ST Balrog )difficult.
A-Bison: a guaranteed low forward(more damage than than all other ACs). I also think it may be possible to combo from said low forward.
A-Balrog: Slightly more damage than regular ACs, good dizzy points.
V-Ken/V-Blanka: Standard AC but with excellent reach.
V-Akuma
Rolento
Dhalsim.
can someone please explain your nominations for air grabs…
sim air grab. jumpback airthrow is almost perfect antiair. you can even throw akuma out of divekick with it on reaction and throw shotos out of the hopkick. very deadly. some other characters can do it similarly but sims success rate is MUCH higher
Sure.
Basically, these characters have the largest grab area fofrtheir air throws. In the All About Zero3 book the actual grab area is Illustrated.
The grab area for the average character’s air throw looks something like this:
Character: Air throw contact box:
O __
[K [_ ]
\
Okay, now in the actual game, the location of contact box varies from each in relation to the actual sprite. Charlie’s pp airthrow for example the contact area for the throw is located on his head while Mika’s kk airthrow is located just in front of her.
Rose’s airthrow looks something like this:
O
K []
\
Birdie’s airthrow:
For Dhalsim, Akuma and Sakura their contact box looks something like this:
__
O | |
[K | |
\ |__|
This area as you can see is the entire length of the character making it very easy to throw stuff like hopkicks and hk immediately from the ground.
If you’d like, I can try and get some scans of the actual book.
Bushin: I placed Akuma’s airthrow ahead of Dhalsim’s despite being very similar in range,(I’ve forgotten the exact range in dots) simply because of Akuma’s playing style which allows him to use his airthrow more frequently I guess.
Hmmn, my ascii art didn’t turn out as expected. I also don’t have my scanner or the actual All About Zero3 book.
This will have to do for now…
'sim’s airthrow is GOD
thanks that clears alot of things up. never ever knew that stuff but it makes sense.
if u can do scan some of that book…
also
who has the fastest wiff throw animation on the arcade version?
Could someone make a list of exactly whats in the all about sfz3 book? Most of the descriptions I’ve seen have been vague :bluu:
thats asking for a WHOLE lot. you realize how big this book is? its literally like the size of a bible lol
