It really sucks that ECC is on the 23rd and my last day of class is the 24th :T.
Maybe next year? I’d really like to play more people in a3. Oh well…
In CvS2 you’ve got to work a lot harder if you have trouble sitting and waiting. So much easier to avoid or get out of the corner on this game and so much easier to avoid fighting. Bigger stages, smaller characters, rolls, counter rolls, alpha counters, jd, parry, 3 jumps, run dash…etc. Cornering means little. I find(even by watching vids of the best play) that you’re doing much less and much more slowly than any other SF. Hella long, boring, simplistic game. Next time you play, just avoid fighting and just be passively aggressive. I mean, you COULD actually fight, but I’ve been all over and ppl usually don’t. Just watch the top vids. The one attacking is the one that’s losing. HELLA flawed game. The one processing thoughts and being creative at a rapid rate loses to one that’s merely playing reactionary or running away(which is easier on cvs2 than ANY other sf EVER). So, I completely disagree with the working harder comment. Working harder makes you lose, lol.
Man I wish A3 came out AFTER cvs2. I have a feeling that CvS2 will kill a lot of sf. Ppl get the wrong idea like SF is about not fighting. Kinda like how Hsien’s style of play killed 3s here for a year or more.
Aside from a great game that capcom had to WORK to fuck up(cvs2), I’m hella looking forward to some serious fighting gaming again. CvS2 is like a fighting game that’s a break from fighting. Wierd.
I feel so dead when it comes to SF lately I’m really looking to ECC to ignite the flame again.

well i wont make it to ecc, but im almost definite that im gonna hit up midwest for some a3 action since it aint far. got some vacation time to use. you know a3 there will be extra nice.
man 3s and ggxx go on apex, yet no a3, so shitty. gonna be even harder to get people to play the game now as opposed to those games

Damn sure does. This game has JFL-types written all over it. Turtle divas unite! It’s no secret I disliked it for months and months. The original CvS wasn’t winning too many awards either, but I jumped quicker into playing that more consistently compared to the sequel. Can’t disagree with ya on the flaws, but I accepted it as just being unable to adapt or try something new. The main reason why I finally got into it more 'round the time Xbox Live came through.
When ya put it that way…you’re right - working harder makes ya lose. That’s been the maxim of SF for years though has it not? 
I wish the game never died. It was the only game that I consistently enjoyed playing. I got into A2 hella late and wasn’t all that great to begin with. Its era is long gone, but it’s cool to see there’s still player interest sprinkled about throughout the U.S. (and overseas). I got the “wrong idea” a number of times over the years too. I’d like to think that clarity has finally been realized [by me] as to what it’s all about…
True. It never quite clicked with me. Blame it on a high addiction to A3 I guess. Would be nice to see the fighting genre itself revitalized. GGXX is a nice example, but Capcom needs to step it up.

Heh. Yeah, however the scene here is uh…barren.com. 'least for A3 that is. Interest is far and wide. I am fortunate enough that there actually are a few players here just for the sake of playing (for playing CvS2, hell will freeze the day I am HCVB’ing wit Cable, lol). And not to disrespect any of them, it’s just not the same like when I was in NY. For the sake of competition - I really do miss CF.

damn. Sorry to break up the thread with something so retarded, but has anyone else noticed that sometimes your high score/# of wins won’t show up? Like today I got like 13 wins with Gen (because he’s GOD, and because comp is scarce), and I look at the little ranking thing for A-ISM that plays after the intro, and Gen wasn’t there…it was some A-Ken player. Booo. Same thing happened to me on my Saturn when I would get the high score with Chun Li…she would never bump of Rose, who I had as #1.
never noticed that TS. then again, never bothered to look since the ranks get deleted after you power off which sucks. i wish it saved win streaks. i think it would be cooler. something to strive for, for the hell of it. but oh well
I wish the win records were all mixed together, instead of one for X, one for A, and one for V. Would make more sense, and also look prettier. 
I don’t know if anyone’s hosting those Bas A3 vids, and I don’t have direct connect or ftp or anything on hand, so how do you do sagat’s 2p infinite? is it just jumping strong, then jumping Forward to cross up, then jump back strong, and continue with strongs like regular? I remember messing around with it a few weeks back, but having trouble.

and to apoc- A-groove is my main groove now. my avatar team is pretty solid IMO. the only problem is that i don’t have much comp to practice with, considering we don’t even have a cvs2 arcade anywhere in KY or OH. most of my comp comes from random console get-togethers and console tournies. and the lag with xbox live kills any hope of playing A-groove consistently, and adds more frustration that good experience. if i come, i’ll be sure to introduce myself and i can get owned a few times:D

TS: just jump straight up with j.strong. you can crossunder tho if you want, but its recommended to crossunder with j.short and not j.forward. it has a better hitbox for the crossunder

regarding otgs and ccs
I’m not sure if this is old news or not but…
If you otg an opponent from a move that you can roll from but not flip from e.g birdie’s jab bullhead or sodom’s fierce jigoku scrape, the rest of the combo will be inescapable . So, a combo such as: p2 birdie’s counter hit jump rh-> cc j rh-> low strong-> bullhorn(it doesn’t have to be the final version, any will do as long as they can’t flip)-> activate vc-> otg bandit chain x 3 will be inescapable provided that the opponent does not roll after the bullhorn.
Also…
normally, r.mika’s daydream headlock(360+k) is escapable once she’s completed the move. However, if you do a cc combo, say for instance (corner) air counter hit splash-> cc jump fierce-> low jab-> stand jab-> qcb+strong-> activate vc, otg 360+k, the opponent WILL NOT be able to flip after the 360+k. so you can get fancy and do: (corner) counter hit splash-> cc jump fierce-> low fierce-> qcb+strong-> vc, otg 360+short-> fierce paradise hold-> whiff low rh-> 360+rh for a nice combo.
The same goes for Sodom. any corner cc combo ending with a scrape(i’m not sure which versions allow you to flip once the move is finished)-> activate vc-> 360+p x 3
So, if they’re not gonna roll, you have a chance to get some big damage otg style.

No. He has a fake infinite. Its Crouch cancel j.strong (not j.short nibor) and you can do it about 20 times before they get too low…its pretty hard to do.
A-Gen is generally better overall because of his high priority moves plus A-ism extra damage allow you to get some really good damage off major counter hits. He also has a lot of cross up tricks with his air super and wall bounce and, IMO, 3 meters for supers and alpha counters is more useful for Gen than 50% and 100% meter with a mediocre VC.
