Alpha 3 Kawaks replays

Excellent stuff, I remember a V-Birdie winning a UK tournament a few years back, but still no one seemed to take Birdie seriously.

Here’s my replay against the comp, using Vega. I can’t even do half my tricks against the comp, so I have to resort to a nice poking game. The only thing to check out and really pay attention to is MY WAY OF BEATING ZANGIEF !!! :smiley: :smiley: :smiley: :lame:

Looks good Mantis, although it looks like you have some inexperience with the CPU patterns, the juggles are good.

I bet the other guys will tell you to start doing the infinite though LOL

i’m quite experienced to this game, can you tell me the exact timing or the motion you do for crouch cancel, I still can’t realize that and seeing the replays i see that it opens plenty of tricks

Rolento Combos?

Hi Chaps,

I just stumbled upon this thread and started viewing the various kawaks replays that everyone has added - theres some excellent combos etc!!!

The big thing at the moment seems to be infinites - and yes im trying to do them too! I can infinites with Ryu, Cody, & Sagat - however my problem is that all my setups rely on the opponent not hopping out at the end of the combo - once the cc’s connect thats it game over - but for the first hit to connect the opponent has to be sleeping or somit, hence they forget to hop out. I’ll record some of my combo’s for you guys to observe and post them up later and I’d be more than grateful if you could let me know where im going wrong…

Anyway, I was just wondering if there are any Rolento players out there!? I’ve been trying to find Rolento’s infinite but with no success. Infact I’d go as far to say that he hasnt got one - mainly because I dont think he has a crouch cancel (i,e, he does his super jump which I dont think is a cc). I’ve tried doing walk cancels but I have never got them to work (I assume its the same as a cc except as soon as you land you walk? If anyone has a kawaks reply I’d love to see how theyre done!). I’d love to see some Rolento replays so if anyone has the moves please post’em up.

Far as I can tell it wouldn’t be possible for Rolento to have an infinite that could keep going outside a VC, the super jump would come out everytime, and I’m not sure if super jumping outside of a VC induces a neutral state.

If it was possible it would possibly be a VC, then finish with a walk cancel into a standing JP cancelled into a the wall dive special into walk cancel into standing JP repeat?

That’s if it was possible, that’s the only way I can think of, unless you can crouch cancel into super jump? But I’ve never heard of it?

Rolento Combos?

I play rolento and rolento has cc’s like everybody else. Just not an infinte. he can do

  • counter hit jab in air --------> jumping fierce
  • counter hit jab in air ------> down fierce
  • counter hit jab —> activate v-ism repeated jumping strongs

also he has a walk cancel vc which goes like : Rk —.> superjump jab walk cancel Rk superjump jab etc.

I’ll see if I can find you a bas vis or make a replay

Mantis, I couldn’t beat cpu with V-vega, don’t know how you cope with that lame-ass damage vc. lol. you should learn that b+fierce, whiff jab roll into easy infinite. post a v-rolento replay for us ^^

bushin, your cody shows promise. learn a vc but you know that, here’s some cody shit for you:

Muskau / bushin187 thanks for the replies. bushin187 - the crouch cancels that you mention are basically the ones that I do - however I cant find any cc’s that can be used to create an infinite at an end of a custom combo.

I’ve just spent the last 15 mins trying to create 2 kawaks replays that show (a) my rolento VISM - trying to do an infinite, and (b) my ryu setup infinite.

First my disclaimer - my joypad is shite and im not gonna insult myself by showing you my lame (and I mean lame) gameplay on kawaks - so I just recorded my attempts at a couple of infinites.

sfa3.rc1 = RYU vism into an infinite. Basically when I do this combo on computer it works (i.e. CPU does not hop out) but on a human opponent they do. Im thinking that at the end of my combo if I do Ryu’s infinte setup - i.e. hop kick / cancel into cyclone then cc maybe that will work - I’ll try this at the weekend when im next at my local arcade (im not even gonna try kawaks cuz that pad of mine really does my head in!) sigh No doubt there is something fundamentally wrong with my combo - so please let me know what it is if you know.

sfa3.rc2 = Rolento vism into an attempted infinite. Basically the combo is shite but im hoping that my idea at the end of the combo is a possible infinite setup? Im trying to do walk cancel’s but whenever I try them they dont work - am I right in thinking that a walk cancel is the same as a cc except as soon as you land you pull left or right and then jump immediately? Well thats what im trying to do with Rolento - and it aint working. Also I tried doing walk cancels with my V-Ryu and it didnt work either so im convienced im doing somit wrong…

This is all a learning thing for me so please send me any ideas / hints / tips etc…

rolento has no infinite. ha can only pogo bounce for so long. only a few characters in the game even have infinites. karin, cody, 1p ryu, sagat, gen, chun, and vega

Also; Birdie, Sodom & someone that im forgeting, and maybe more…

no, they do not have infinites. they jsut have a long cc series. but definitely not an infinite

Birdie does have an infinite:

VC ends-> crouch cancelled pumping strong x n.

You can juggle the opponent till they have no life left or you can continue the crouch cancelled series till you get 50% of the super meter back, then re-activate.

eh, wasnt sure if you could do enough to get 50% meter back.

Here’s my V-Rolento against the computer! Unfortunately, it never quite worked out, because I die at level 4! :bluu: Anyway, you might like to observe my strategy, and give me some feedback… There’s really not much to it though, most of my stuff is displayed in those 4 matches…

I use an effective strategy against Blanka - that’s it really! I give up! Any feedback?

Spence, nice idea for an infinite setup! BTW, how far can you go against the CPU on expert, with V-Rolento? I can’t seem to get past Charlie… :mad:

Anyway, can you do the Birdie cc jumping strong until KO? I thought they’d drop eventually, so you have to re-activate to kill them? And it’s 1p only, right?

Just that, V-Birdie doing CC’s… 3 recs, 1 combo each.
In the 1st one i did; j. Jab(CH) CC VC1 j. Roundhouse till VC is 5%, then CC j. Strongs till KO…
And in the others 2, there r some posible VC setups for the infinite… Btw… if u need longer replays, just say it, is just that i suck with birdie and i cant do his grab with this broken joystick…

Yeah Chun-Li is a real pain, the only way to consistently beat her is either memorizing her patterns, or just finding a character with better ground pokes. Never jump on her or try to attack her on wakeup if she has super, she’ll use it. You can try walking towards her as she gets up then blocking, she’ll usually super then.

If you jump alot, she’ll tend to try and meet you in the air, stay near her on the ground(but not point blank), and she’ll start her ground poke pattern, when she gets to the cr. RK, jump-in and combo as she finishes it.

If she jumps backwards twice, jump after her but don’t get too close, if you do she’ll jump forward as you jump after her and attack. After jumping back twice she always throws a fireball, jump it and combo her.

V-ism Chun-Li always jumps after activating VC, bait a VC, then block her first attack, then nail her when she jumps. Actually, most of the characters will jump soon after activating VC, be ready for it.

Here’s my V-Honda on Expert, seriously he is just not good enough if you can’t do Hundred hands on demand, the five button presses don’t work for me, I always get one SP, and trying to buffer the 5 presses with SK doesn’t work either.

And also apparently it looks like the Japanese Honda players use the FP Hundred Hands version, which I have never been able to get anyway. :rolleyes:

I also miss alot of 360 attempts, and can’t do crouch cancelling on demand either, which he NEEDS to have to do decent damage at all.
