I thought that was Kingdom of Heaven (Eva Green)

But yeah every single thing about that character was horrible, not just Bloom’s mis-casting.

alien and aliens are pretty overrated though. so many lame plot devices

e.g. the cat in one and the kid in two who assumed the same exact role as the cat

i dont know why there is so much hate for alien 3, i actually thought it was quite good. not better than 1 and 2, but still good and not as bad as everyone complains about. i mean it is fincher who directed it, that doesnt give the movie a free pass but the dude knows what he is doing and it shows.

im outi

Roberth

I never hated Bloom until I saw Troy…

I enjoy Alien 3…it’s not without it’s problems, but I like it’s grim nature, I like how Fincher shot it using so many low angles, and it’s great looking movie. Eliot Goldenthal’s score has some great moments, and I love the concept of the Alien being “a freight train with teeth”. The steadicam Alien POV chase shots were fucking sweet too.
Hicks and Newt was a slap in the face at first…but it doesn’t really bother me that much anymore. In the context of Ripley’s character arc, it was a bit more interesting to see her resolved that her fate was going to be intertwined with the aliens to the very end than have her replay her role from Alien and Aliens.
The absolute main problem I have with the movie is the damn egg on the Sulaco in the opening. The logic part of me can['t stand it. The Director’s Cut introduces the Super Face Hugger, but it’s never really touched upon, and there’s only one shot of it from about twenty feet away. But the concept of an armored face hugger that clings to the Queen’s body while she’s on the move would have played much better if it had been developed further. Would have made sense, the egg doesn’t.

There’s also a handful of effects shots where the transition between the puppet alien and the full size alien don’t match at all, particularly the power shot in the medical bay where it walks up to Ripley in full view. Just looked *too *thin at times.

I still enjoy the movie every time I watch it though. The documentaries on it were more interesting than the other ones, even though Fox did cut all footage and interviews with Fincher before it was released because he was particularly blunt on camera about the production problems and his animosity with Jon Landau and the Fox brass.
All the documentaries have titles, “Wreckage and Rape” was changed to “The Making of Alien 3” and the documentary director removed his name from the credits over the Fincher’s interviews being cut.

Man, sorry if I’m rambling, but I’m a serious Alien nut. Best. Monster. Ever.

Oh, anybody check out Gearbox’s latest stuff on the Colonial Marines game? Saw a lengthy vid of it on the XBox Dashboard in the Inside Xbox section. Looks halfway decent.

3 gets a lot of hate but not as much as 4

I spent about 3hrs last night looking for that autopsy scene… damn.

The wooden planet concept would’ve been interesting to see.

I can barely remember 4, I remember the main bad guy from The Crow got killed off really early in the movie and that pissed me off.

There were a couple of memorable tracks on the Alien 3 OST, Lento being my favourite

Resurrection…I dunno, I remember reading Joss Whedon’s script and thought it had promise, but the final movie…just had the wrong tone completely. Nothing against Jean Pierre Jeunet, as I like all his other stuff…but he just felt like the wrong choice for it. It pretty much lost me when the guy gets the Alien Kiss in the back of his head and he reaches into his own wound and pulls out brain matter or some shit. Went campy. Didn’t care for the Pumpkinhead special appearance either, though the Newborn’s eyes still creep me out. The film does have some nice qualities to it, but it just plays so cheeseball during the action scenes, and aside from Ripley, the characters were mostly dead weight. It’s more a comic bookish movie, where the first 3 operate more in hard science fiction territory(which Prometheus looks to be returning to).
I used to blame Whedon for it’s failings due to his script, but he’s made no secret that he thought the final film was completely the opposite of what he was aiming for and hated it.

Danny Boyle(28 Days Later, Trainspotting) was at the top of list for directors for Resurrection, but he passed because it was treading too much familiar territory. That would have been an interesting movie.

EDIT:
Oh, watch this too: Original Aliens Teaser from '86. Amazing trailer, get hype!

I think Alien 4 is easily the worst of the four movies. Nothing in that movie makes sense. I’m not even sure what genius saw the script and thought that it would be a good movie. Movie just makes my brain hurt.

Prometheus looks to have potential. At least on wiki, it was said that the movie isn’t really supposed to be about Xenomorphs and focus on the background of the space jockey race found in the first Alien movie. I don’t really think we’ll see much, or any, Xenomorphs… which is fine by me.

Not for me because it means 5 more years till they make another movie

Personally, I don’t really need to know about the space jockey’s origin and backstory. I enjoy a bit of mystique when it comes to something like Alien.

To be honest, I think it’s better this way. Alien and Aliens are among my favorite movies ever, but Alien 4, and to a lesser extent, 3, has ruined the franchise. The AvP movies didn’t help either. It would be hard to reboot the franchise into the success that the first two movies were. It’s possible… but it’d be really hard and would require an immense amount of acting, directing, and writing talent. I don’t know if studios are going to want to spend the money or take that risk. Then again… another Resident Evil movie is being made, so I guess anything is possible.

See above paragraph, more or less. I think at this point, Prometheus being about the space jockeys is better than being about xenomorphs.

Just downloaded all the Aliens comics and damn I’m impressed with the quality. I thought the story was gonna be cheesy but it’s actually good. I’ve started with Book One and so far the art has been amazing. Can’t believe this is from 20 years ago. Someone needs to adapt this

can you send me a link to the downloads?

There should be enough seeders. If not, holla at me and check the amazon link for chronological reference
