LOL for those that have not seen it:

THE ULTIMATE TROLL HAS SPOKEN!!!

Why does SRK, one of the forums probably most in need of an Ignore Function, not have an Ignore Function that… Functions? When some idiot with a pony avatar is typing in all caps and calling you a troll, you know you’re in desperate need of one.

You’re crazy!
Next thing you’re going to tell me, that Smash Bros is a fighting game? Pfft!

The two didn’t get lost, as I understand it, they were looking for stuff to take back. Dude was a biologist and an idiot that’s why he touched something that fascinated him. David from the start WAS JUST LIKE ASH? FROM ALIEN. Did you not get the creepy vibe from him the whole time?

I thought that was explained? Weyland wanted to meet his maker.

For the rest, sounds like you just need to invoke a little imagination.

I get the surgery thing is crazy, but if people can be ok with the space travel of the movie, rapid genetic mutation on a second by second interval, and life like androids, then you should be able to let this go.

i didnt want a prequel for answers to the first movie. i wanted a prequel that added to the mythos in a more significant way then the generic afterthought of the tie in in promethues. that is what my problem is. if they decided to actually do a prequel who says you even needed to answer questions about the first movie at all?

i want alien 5, do it cameron.

im outi

Roberth

Dumb Stuff in movie.

  1. Map guy getting lost
  2. Why did Charlize even come?
  3. Why didn’t Dragon Tattoo kill the Alien that came out of her stomach?
  4. Why didn’t anyone notice/care about the entire Alien in her stomach scenario.
  5. Biology guy (and basically everyone in the damn movie) being like “Hey lets just touch all this foreign life we know nothing about”

That is about it. Movie was good. I’d give it an 7.5 because it was beautifully shot but wasn’t anything new or genre breaking. I was really enjoying the 2001 vibe at the beginning. It would have been quite hilarious if he jumped off the bike and dunked it.

I was kinda sad it became a “let’s explore this place, oh no bad things are happening” movie after the 2001 stuff.

QE - Just quick skimmed the last couple pages, Goody is right, the post surgery Dragon Tattoo parts were pretty silly. And to say “Well it’s Sci Fi, who cares” is very lazy. (I know it’s a summer movie, but it kinda depresses me that people just don’t care about logical stuff, like A LOT, now a days, Goody, never go to the Avatar thread or you will pull out all of your hair) They could have easily given her the preposed muscle growth gel, but didn’t and it came out dumb.

The scene with the surgery was great though. I was like “Ewwwwwww” and then “Oh man”

[spoiler=]
Thats what I thought… When Shaw and Holloway brief the crew on the objectives of the expedition they mention images they’d seen at excavation sites (around the world) that depict humans worshipping giant blue people pointing to the stars.
When Weyland and the crew came face to face with the Space Jockey it probably realised they had no intention of worshpping it.

I doubt the space Jockey cared whether david was an android or not. Maybe it thought the humans were not worthy enough to even communicate with.

Am I really the only person who saw images of the xenomorph on the mural?

[spoiler=spoiler]Physically, maybe. Emotionally, and psychologically? Hell no. This is the character who at an extremely vulnerable and intimate point, reaveld to the audience she cannot give birth. It is physically impossible for her to do so. After self-aborting an alien growing inside her, she has no psychological scarring/torment for the rest of the film?

The simple fact of the matter is the writers didn’t handle this issue properly in any way shape or form.

Why would she have psychologically cared in that scenario? She was trying to survive.

I’ll say it slower this time: She stated she could not give birth…she then gives birth to a god-damn alien.

They probably did, but had to cut it all out =/

BA DA CHING!

Furious One has jokes and jokes and jokes and jokes.

Potentially, but as is the issue is handled terribly. They might as well have cut that entire character plot out completely because it leads nowhere. If they wanted to show her vulnerability (to add drama etc) they could have done it in plenty of other ways. Like say mourn for one of the many recent fallen comrades…

They clearly state “were going back to the ship”. When the group returns to the ship the captain asks them where the 2 idiots went, “Oh we thought the went back to the ship”. They are clearly lost.

David was not like Ash. Ash was clearly trying to preserve the alien for study. He only attacked the crew when they got in the way of that objective. David’s motives were never clear. Was he performing tests by infecting Dr Dumbshit? Did he betray everyone when he spoke to the engineer? Was he trying to kill Weyland so he could be free of him? WTF?

Not only was her gaping hole in her stomach held together with some fucking staples rather implausible, why didn’t anyone check on her? What happened to those idiots trying to put her in cryosleep? Did they just have amnesia after she KOed them? Why didn’t they go after her and try and stop her? Why didn’t anyone try and find out what the fuck come out of her uterus?

When a movie requires so much imagination to fill all of the gaps you might as well write your own goddamn movie. These fuckers were lazy as fuck.

No ash and david were a lot alike, ulterior motives most of the time and didn’t bishop say the old models were flawed?

We weren’t supposed to know what he said to the engineer, that’s the fucking point.

I just think some of you would rather complain then enjoy the movie. Crazy stuff aside, its a movie.

I’m more interested in the possible directors cut adding so much additional footage.

I figured they were going the rogue intelligence angle with David, but didn’t really carry it out well.

I didn’t know Lindelhof was the big lost guy, that is probably the big reason that a lot of the questions the movie brings up weren’t answered in any way. He is a bad writer. I still don’t understand why people like Lost. That show is an enormous waste of time. You can only take the “LETS NOT SHOW ANYTHING, SUSPENSE!” strategy to far.

Usually when a fanbase needs to create an entire subculture of theories to explain many things about whatever they are fans of it’s because something wasn’t written well.

I think I read on that timeline of events that when Weyland created the David model he was tinkering with giving them emotions. I’m of the belief that David said something to the Engineer along the lines of his own personal motives disregarding what Weyland had intended.

I definitely agree that the psychological aspect was handled badly. I was fine with the physical portrayal.

No they were not alike. How the fuck were they alike aside from the fact that they were both androids? Ash didn’t go around doing random shit for no goddamn reason. Everything he did there was a plausible explanation. There was no explanation for what David was doing. What were his motives? Be a random asshole?
