i might head out tomorrow. looks like i have no plans as of now. i can bring the dc. i have an extra stick for it so if people wanna play marvel but i wouldnt want to lug everything if nobodys gonna play.
Those guys play everything but Marvel…which isn’t really their faults, but none of us [Marvel players] go to CAD.

Ok…Mr. “I’m-gonna-shit-on-anyone-and-anything-that-even-mentions-Nickels” is calling me the snob…riiiiighttt…
Anyways, first off, outside of Frankie, if you ask any one of those guys if they even consider themselves a Marvel player, they’ll probably flat out tell you “HAHA. Hell no.” So I don’t think I offended anyone of those guys. Which, if I did, I do apologize for.
Knowing tiers and the buttons and knowing how to play the game are 2 totally different things. That’s like me calling myself a CvS2 player, which I stopped playing along time ago. Do I know the buttons…sure; which characters/grooves are good…yeah; certain character’s CC’s…for the most part, yeah; but calling myself a CvS2 player would be an insult to CvS2 players everywhere. Or and even better example, a GG player. I mean, I used to play w/ the GG guys all the time, and I know and get along w/ most of the locals great. But if I even tried to call myself GG player around here, I’d get slapped.
Next, I can think of a couple reasons why us, “Marvel-concentrated” (which BTW, I phrased it that way so I wouldn’t press your buttons again…since I apparently, and inadvertently, did the first time) players don’t go to CAD.:
1.) Too far. Algonquin is really far from the rest of the Chicago-land area…and for the most part, us “Marvel-concentrated” folk are poor/always broke, lazy, live further spread apart, or all of the above. Shit, Nickels is already too far for most of us. Let alone in the middle of bu’fu that Algonquin is.
2.) Comp-wise, not worth it. Which, ironically, is a never ending loop of, “if no one goes, then there’ll be no comp to play against.” In combination w/ point #1, can’t really be helped. And unfortunately, most local “Marvel-concentrated” players only play Marvel. So while some may be able to play other games for a little while, boredom’ll only be held off for so long.
and most importantly…
3.) Don’t wanna be eyeballed all night. This goes out to you more than anyone, Kenny. It’d be fine if we can play it peace, but having you come up and bad-mouth Marvel and it’s tiers/strategies while we play isn’t something we’re gonna drive all the way out there for. You seriously did that shit the whole night at Jim’s b-day party. I mean, we were using your DC, which we appreciated, but c’mon man, you need to chill w/ the Marvel hate every time you start to watch a match.
To sum up all the above…why drive 1-3+ hrs. for something we can do for cheaper and of better quality closer-by to where we are.
Also, this “super-defensiveness” thing you have about CAD is starting to get old/annoying. I can sorta see what you’re trying to do here, and I’m all for that. I mean, starting a regular gathering place and time for us to gather, while trying to promote new people to show up, is a good idea. But getting all defensive and replying to anyone who even mentions not coming out to CAD is not gonna wanna make people come.
Note: I’m not speaking for all the local “Marvel-concentrated” players. This is my opinion.
