Re: Alex vs Yun
getting overwhelmed by dive kicks is not something that should happen…they’re very easy to see coming and parry. if he whiffs it, yun has nothing outside of a SA1/2 or EX Rising Kick to counter a throw. If you parry their divekicks, and are able to retaliate, a s. strong xx EX Rising Knee will hurt plenty that they stop jacking around with Dive Kicks. Not to mention even worse things like parry, then s. strong xx strong SGH. Can u say 60% life gone?
Re: Re: Alex vs Yun
that doesnt combo. Or close to combo
SGH doesn’t combo in anything outside of stun. I still think it’s a good super though. I usually use it when someone tries to trip me, or I make em’ whiff a normal or special move that has a lot of frames with SGH.
Re: Re: Re: Alex vs Yun
i know it doesn’t. i said how u can parry a divekick, then do s. strong xx EX Knee. THen I said there are worse things (off a parried dive kick) such as (anti-air) s. strong xx strong SGH. The s. strong resets them, and they land and get caught in the SGH. In this case, this usually lands (on Yun) because he doesn’t have a good dash, a good anti-air (excluding EX Dive Kick which is still kinda weak), or a super with startup invincibility (such as his SA2 i believe).
also, SGH DOES combo.
fierce Flash Chop xx jab SGH is a combo.
yes it does combo
fierce flash chop ->jab Stun Gun or
if you do the Elbow Slash and hit the opponent out of the air you can connect a strong Stun Gun. After hiting them alex can catch them out of the air. (remember the opponent has to be hit while he is in the air) and yes this combo works.
especial on air fireball whore akuma players.
to get out of the STun Gun with anyone you can pretty much just jab it out or do a jumping jab.
which is why tourny peeps use SA2.
who’s going to rely on a gimmicky SA, anyways?
sure, it’s fun and all, but try landing that shit in a tournament full of good players.
yeah, thought so.
SGH is a gimmick super, just like Ryu’s SA3.
sure, it’s neato, but it’s going to be a tough win, compared to his other SA’s.
i wouldn’t say a tough win, i hardly use my supers for any of them,
maybe for ex meter when i need to
but alex gives out damage like crazy. mostly powerbomb, ddt, and stomp set ups is my game.
The reason SGH is a good super is cause it has short meter, huge damage, and easy to land. There are so many ways to land the SGH, that your opponent should be scared of what he does (second-guessing himself) all the time.
Stun Gun is my favorite super to use for fun. but it is not easy to land. explain how easy it is.
SGH, IMO, while a good super, it’s almost useless vs people with DPs or just fast dashes. I’d rather just stick to Boomerang Raid and use a lot of EXs.
oh it’s easy…i’ll give u a few examples.
-against a jumpin, gauranteed against a lot of characters
-after a UOH, baitout jab SGH
-after parry a jumpin, gauranteed
-hit low jump d+fierce, jab SGH
-against fireballs
-after a baitout stomp
-after blockstun Elbow or hit Elbow
-after blockstun Flash Chop or hit FC
-after a baitout dashin
-baitout a throw (j. jab is one example)
-after they tech roll after a throw
-combos from a fierce FC (can bait them into getting hit with FC)
-anti-air Elbow xx SGH (combo as mentioned)
-baitout a parry, then cancel to jab SGH
-baitout throw using whiffing jumpins, jab SGH
-baitout using short DDT (make em block s. forward xx short DDT, jab SGH)
Man there are so many possibilites…this super is crazy.
none of those are guaranteed. (all tricks) i use more than half listed, a good ken player will always get out or makato will dash under them. i even had urien dash under :bluu: ugh!
but some of them i haven’t done so thanks for the info.
np man…the thing is, i always tell ppl alex is the most gimmicky player in the game haha. the bitch has got so many dirty tricks. but the beautiful thing about alex is that even if he had none of his tricks/gimmicks, he would still be solid as hell.
and speaking of this, here’s my recommendation:
-if u wanna a solid, tournament alex, then use SA2
-if u wanna deal with certain bad matchups, use SA1/3
-if u wanna deal with shotos, DEFINETLY pick SA2
-if u wanna win by surprising ur opponent, pick SA1/3
-if u wanna have lotta fun, use SA3 (IMO)
yea i agree alex is a dirty fighter. people get mad when i powerbomb them five times in row.
I’ve started playing Alex a lot and cannot figure out what his weaknesses are. I checked tier threads and he’s pretty low but no one ever discusses him. Does he have some huge weak point or does no one play him so no one knows? Watching ksk play sure makes him look good.
for one he has to be up close to win. his stomp helps you get it but after awhile a good player will predict it coming. you have to do a lot of mix ups with the ddt, stomp, power bomb and set them up
weakness is his speed. his pokes aren’t that great either, the exceptional ones are crouching strong, and far standing foward.
he isn’t the best character because he has no long range fighing, but he isn’t the worst because when alex gets close it can destroy the opponent pretty fast.
Alex = stun whore
I TOTALLY disagree with u on this. Alex’s EX moves provide an easy way in. EX Elbow is one of the fastest (and BEST) EX moves in the game. I don’t see how anyone could disagree with this. It gets Alex in very easily, and it’s incredibly fast…AND it combos into SA2. His EX Stomp tracks, knocks down, and is quite fast.
Then again, blocked EX Elbow = free super for Ken and Chun.
What are some uses for the ddt? I use it very rarely for a surprise. Does it have any really good set-ups or does it set-up for anytihng else?
