Dude the fight money isn’t all that easy to get. I cleared story, easy and and normal survival plus 3 characters on hard and all I have is 472,550. Survival gives you a huge chunk but you can only do it once with each character and it’s quite a pain in the ass. The only other way to gain money is fighting online and you get only 50 per win…
-There will be 6 characters at the end of the year thats 600,000
-It cost 40,000 for each costume from story mode. 16 characters 640,000
-They plan to release stages and other colors for an undisclosed amount…
Do the math… I’d rather support Capcom for the characters and use the rest of my fight money for other stuff.
And another thing about the season pass is that all 6 characters will come with premium costumes you can’t buy with fight money. So yeah…
I mean I’m a completest when it comes to my games. I want to able to have everything. If you just want the 6 characters more power to you.
This would be the best thing. Of course have to put regulations, dont want fixed matches earning people a but load of fm. Maybe have capcom pro tour integrated? Be able to bet at the start of each match.
Uhm, pretty sure Smash has an in-game currency betting system. Fight money might be slightly more dubious since it can be used to buy things you can also buy with real money, but is that really enough to push it over the edge?
EA a while back said that even though players often asked for a “Coin betting” system on FIFA, they couldn’t do it due to ERSA ratings. I just use the same thought track for any game, I suppose it depends on the context of the betting?
Always a pleasure to start a discussion about state, and international gambling laws, and where they do, and do not apply in a street fighter thread!
Also I wanted to point out, at least now we know what caused the delay, and why Capcom was so silent about it. It was the Zenny. They had to decide wether to release a buggy and unfinished real money currency, delay the march update indefinitely till they could fix it, or release the March update WITHOUT a way to purchase the characters/costumes outside of fight money. Delaying paid DLC options is something that effects their bottom line and their core business model, dealing with that must have been a sh*tstorm internally. There would have been a lot of corporate interests (especially considering the sale numbers) and too much uncertainty for the development team to give us a straight answer until the big wigs made their decision.
I would like to say though, that Capcom made the right decision. Kudos to them for that. Giving everyone free access to the characters until they get their garbage together is great, and giving everyone two free story costumes permanently is a good gesture as well.
Considering Capcom’s less than stellar PR record I’m legitimately surprised they didn’t screw this up further.
So do you guys still want an Alex trailer now that he’s coming out in 5 days? I feel like they should show one, and use it to do a big marketing push for the game. There are a lot of people still waiting for more content before they bite, and they really need to keep pushing sales.
Honestly they should probably tease the next character in said trailer as well. Guile showing up and sonic booming in the last few seconds would have people throwing their money at the screen. He’s a big deal to casual SF fans especially.
I feel like we might get one at NCR, even though they’ve now revealed the release date for him. Dig the idea at teasing the next character too, might as well!
I’d love to see him in motion ASAP, so a trailer would be nice. Maybe do a last second character tease for the new one in the trailer like they did with Nash.
