I’ve been assuming that V-Skill won’t build any meter due to the counter hit properties it gives your buttons since Crush Counters build v-gauge.
Bigger worry I have at the moment is how we’re going to chase without stomp or elbow. I hope he has at least one normal that moves him forward and is not awful.
I have a feeling that Headbutt isn’t going to be as good as Birdie’s dive.
Now the question I have about Alex’s V-Skill is what happens on a stun. V-skill forces a counterhit so does that mean he can stun>Armcrank > HP(CC) > Hp chop >Powerbomb.
If so that is obscene in and of itself.
Alex’s V-skill is either going to be absolutely nuts or completely useless.
Clothesline is obviously the elbow replacement for getting in cross screen, but it’s V-trigger only, and they said he has multiple options for closing quickly so I’m wondering what the others are. It’d be interesting if you had a f.HP that moved forward like Laura’s, and was almost like a proto-slash elbow, like a normal version of slash elbow. Alternatively, If headbutt could go full screen on EX it’d be pretty nuts.
And I’m with GenUser on the dash, without a fast, scary dash, Alex is hardly Alex at all.

Exactly! This is exactly the possible combo I was bringing up before, except with HK since we know that’s a crush. This would be so disgusting, but it would definitely give him a reason to push for stun.
Worth noting, they only said you waste the V-skill powerup on a whiff, or if you’re blocked, they never said anything about when you’re hit. Meaning that, unlike Mika, Alex probably get’s his counter hit even if he’s jabbed first.
for sure. It’s hard to criticize at the moment, none of us has had a shot at playing the SFV iteration of Alex… hell, we haven’t even seen anything save for a write-up and a few screenshots. I’m thirsty af for more information or the trailer and it’s killing my will to play anyone else in this game in the meantime.
Eh right not my biggest concern/curiosity is his v-trigger. I’m just trying to think of it in terms of how it can be applied. For ryu and his denjin you can threaten someone from full screen and mid screen, but for alex you’ll be comitted to the move from the getgo and can only use it once. I can’t really say if we don’t even have a trailer, but unless he’s got some legit way of preventing you from just jumping over it, then idk. Maybe it just happens to have one of those extremely tall hitboxes liek zangief headbutt that will also punish jumpers and perhaps do a huge chunk of damage.
How do they QA the DLC characters for balance? The potential of a future DLC character to release and be absolutely nuts is pretty high, every DLC-per-timeframe fighting game I’ve ever played has had issues with balancing the new characters and they’ve needed a patch after release.
Think that’ll happen if he’s truly broken or do we get to keep broken Alex until v2017
I need this trailer so badly. Its really starting to get to me not seeing him in action. I want to know if turned certain moves like elbow into a normal. I want to see the range v trigger has, how fast is vskill. They really dodnt tell us anything about the character, we know te shell of the character but nothing about his inner workings.
