With his specials revealed, Id like to see his normals. I’d also like to now the gameplan for Alex. Strong mixups? Throw/hit classic grappler? Mid range pokes with high damage potential? I can’t imagine him being defensive with his toolset, so maybe an aggressive form of Birdies gameplay?
Yea im not really sure why people are so suprised by his size in this game.
To me hes proportioned out well as Zangief is still roughly twice as dense in musculature…in this game every guy is extra roided. His relative size to Ryu is close to the same as it was in 3.
Note the vast difference in bulk…difference in height looks pretty much the same with Ryu looking slightly taller in V due to Alex squatting a bit lower on his right leg.
Wow seeing his old design there makes me see SFV design isnt great, is it? Ryu and most of the characters look good in the new game… Its not an ugly game per se.
Difference in design. Whereas Alex has a cartoonish pug nose, facepaint, bandana and somewhat undefined anime face, SFV alex looks like a wrestler with a fully detailed, semi realistic face. If they tried to emulate the 3s look he would probably look like a woman.
Perfect excuse for 2i voice tho.
I would say the jump in 2d sprite to 3d polygonal requires the designers to add much more definitive detail into the character models, which makes carrying over traditional sprite designs from sf2/sf3 quite hard without making it look retarded. Some changes or slight differences in the design are bound to happen in the switch, I’m pretty happy with how he looks, the jeans are a little weird though, I expected cargos or something.
Thats what I said. But I got about 30 disagrees. Including one from you. Theres no reason why he should be the only character in the game that looks like he belongs in the new killer instinct.
Tatsunoko vs Capcom is a thing that totally exists and he looks great in it.
Come on guys… if SF5 Alex were the original, we’d all be talking about how cool he looks. SF5 Alex looks great as his own design, straight up. There’s no need to make any excuses for him. If you just transposed his body proportions from 3S over to SF5 he’d look very out of place. 3S was very anime in it’s exaggeration whereas SF5 is more of a mix between western and anime design.
He’s fine…it’s just the hair and face that I can’t seem to get under. This is why we need to see it in motion. IMO birdie is the best in game model with the best animations when playing, but looks like ass in screenshots. Gotta get my final round alex trailer.
Eventho Alex was obviously buff in 3S, he looked more lean, and in turn a bit younger. Especially when looking at his official arts of 3S and Tasunoko. I’ve always pictured him having a gorilla/tarzan- like physique. You could tell just by looking at him that he was very strong while also mobile.
I’m not getting the same expression when looking at him in V, he looks slow, bulkier and aged.
But as a lot of you are saying, we need to see him in motion first, a lot of characters look better in motion.
I believe so. Part of the way they designed it is that you can get some “refund” out of purchasing characters with FM by doing their story mode/survival. Which would add up to uh…idk, 40k FM in total I think?
Please pass what you’re smoking. I could do with a chuckle.
I think I figured out the thing that I don’t like and it’s stupid. It’s the two locks of hair he has at the front. In SF3 they fell over the top of the bandanna and if SFV they’re under it.
I wish I was joking…

Alex should have a costume out on release, no? In the season pass it says each character comes with a premium costume. I assume the same costumes they talked about earlier costing $4 each in the shop.
