At the moment I have 8 360’s and 8 tv’s setup for street fighter 4
For TvC I have 1 TV setup 3 Wii’s ATM
For Tekken 6 there is 1 TV 1 PS3 setup ATM
Brawl and Melee have more then enough setups (possibly with some to spare) ATM and don’t seem to need anything from me.
Of course having more consoles/tv setups will help things run more smooth. Part of the reason our last SF4 tournament ran slow was because we used the PC version and have to restart it many times, because of computer crashing.
Also there will be Paul and myself running SF4. Any help is more than appreciated. Brawl won’t require our help what so ever. But tekken and TvC could need help being run. I trust I can leave AudioCG to run his HDR tournament. If anyone wants to run a game that is not one of the 4 main game,s they would be responsible for getting their own equipment for their desired game.
I also feel that Kyle is more than competent in running Tekken, as he did last year.
Good stuff to know, alright, if it comes down to a lack of consoles and/or displays I can do the BB and MVC 2 on my 360, they seem to have smallish numbers and shouldent be too bad time wise to run, the only issue with doing it that way is obviously they would have to run one after the other (or split across the 2 days)
If however, in the “later” tourney we could snag a couple of displays from SF4 (I suggest from the “team” SF4 time frame as I personally will not be involved with that) say when that tourney is nearing its end (final 8?) we could most likely have one of these smaller side tourneys end at the same time. (with the extra 360/displays, I am thinking 2 on top of mine)
It would go something like this:
We run MvC2, huzzah good times, that ends at what I am guessing would be the halfway point of the “teams” SF4 tourney, at that point there should be a couple of “free” 360s becoming available (maybe 1 hour downtime, would give me time to organize the brackets anyways). Then we snag say 2 360/displays and run BB, both BB and SF4 should end pretty close to one another…
Doing it this way would also allow more time for the proposed CvS2, whatevah PC emulated, casuals, etc type stuff on each day. (once again, are we going to “burn the midnight oil” at this location, or is there a specific, “get the heck outta here foo” time frame?)
Anyhoo, I imagine another 360/PS3/Display or two might get added to the list before this goes down, but as it stands, what do you think?
Anyone here know about Greyhound? If I end up coming to this and I can’t get a ride, I’ll take the Greyhound. Which depot would be closest to the tournament location? There is “Edmonton, Edmonton West, and Edmonton South.”
you wan the one going down town, if your going to come make sure you do it Asap so you can get the month in advance fair. there should be a greyhound down town. trust me paying far in advance i best advance .
Housing eh? That’d be sweet. The hotels I was looking at wanted $278.xx for a two night stay! That’s some expensive shit. I’ll talk to a few people and see what’s going down, then shoot you a PM.
Alrighty, if you going to get a hotel or w/e try the easglan inn, its about a 5 minite bus ride from the train station and its pretty cheap. almost 100 or w/e last time i checked.
Awesome, ok, that means we have lots of time for casuals and such.
I have another little bit of fun news, I have a friend (a young budding game journalist) who will be in town for when this goes down, he is interested in participating AND covering the event (he has had like 12 “front page” articles on Bitmob over the last couple of months). I figure you having a stream and me bringing in a journalist can only mean good things for your tourney.
It may be worth looking into renting displays if needed, we shall keep an eye on the stock, it looks pretty good so far with what you already have.
Get HYPE.
(Now all I need to do is actually learn how to play SF4 then im good to go, lol.)
I have a question… How long does it take to drive from Vancouver to Edmonton? does anyone here know? Me and a group of people from Vancouver are trying to decide how to get there…
It takes 12 or 13 hours to drive between Vancouver and Edmonton, so one could make it in one day.
Vancouver to Hope - 2 hours
Hope to Kamloops - 2 hours
Kamloops to Jasper - 5 hours
Jasper to Edmonton - 3 hours
