Main Event

Edmonton vs Calgary 5 vs 5

Onsite Fee: $10 for access to the building for the weekend. This will be used to cover expenses and bolster pot size. Participants are responsible for keeping the sticker given to them for both days as proof of payment.

Tournament Fee: $10 singles, $20 teams (2 people x $10).

We will have access to the hall at 5pm on Friday, March 5th to set up the equipment. Casuals may occur when we are finished

General Tournament Format and Rules:

-DO NOT BE LATE. We cannot accept entries for a tournament after it has already begun. We’ll start accepting entries 1 hour before the tournament is scheduled to begin.
-If you are not present for a tournament match within 3 minutes of being called, you are disqualified. Exceptions include playing a match in another tournament (NOT CASUALS) and taking an emergency dump in the washroom.

-If you behave in a manner that threatens the safety of other players, you will be removed without refund.
-If you are caught stealing sticks or other equipment, you will be banned for life and called out publicly.

-Players will be seeded by region. This includes non-Alberta provinces, Calgary, Hobbema, and “factions” within Edmonton. Otherwise, placements will be random (meaning people from the same city will be seeded away from each other so they don’t play one another first)
-Double Elimination, best-of-3 sets, best-of-5 bracket finals, best-of-7 grand finals.
-The winner of a match must retain his/her character/team in the following match.
-Players may opt for blind select before entering the select screen.
-Players are responsible for configuring their inputs before beginning a match/set. If reconfiguration at the beginning of Round 1 is necessary, the players will reset to the select screen and pick the same characters.
-In-game button-mapping is permitted (PPP is okay, but autofire or special move macros are not)
-Pot distribution will be 60/30/10. Winners of singles tournaments also receive a trophy!

-Rules for Capcom games will be consistent with Evolution. l.

-Rules for other non-Capcom games will follow tournament standards set throughout the continent.

Team tournament rules

  • Each team is made up of two players
  • A team cannot have two of the same character
  • Players must stick with their characters throughout the tournament
  • In a match, player 1 from Team A plays player 1 from Team B. Then player 2 from Team A plays player 2 from Team B. If one team wins both games, the match is over. If players from different teams win, then the winners of each of the previous two games play, and the winner of that game wins the match.

Basically best of 1 match with 2/3 rounds

Each region is appointed a team captain that will pick the team. Captains must report their teams to Shiro420 or Jinrai before 5 on 5.

I can bring a 360 if needed, and I dont know if I could help run it, seeing as I would very much like to compete. (However, if no one has an issue with me doing both, I would be more then happy to.) If we have enough interested people that would be very, very awesome.

Alrighty then, it is worth mentioning that my 360 (if needed) can double duty for Blaz and MVC 2 and SF4 (I have all of them). As long as there are no time conflicts I can assist in those events as well, just let me know. (you guys need an old fuck like me involved anyways ;p)

how many different types of game tournaments are you planning to have steve? im just asking because it seems like alot considering the last sf tourny took a very very long time and it was only sf4. Its good to aim big but remember at the same time you don’t want it to be disorganized.

Very true, I am willing to put in the hours needed to make an HDR tourney work, and will add my 360 to the MVC2 and BB and SF4 tourneys (one more box makes for faster tourneys) it depends on just how many displays and concurrent tourneys are running.

The real time eaters will be the big 3, the others arent looking to bad so far (1-2 hours if we have multiple displays)

Shiro, please keep me up to date with times and display counts as that info becomes available, I will do my best to assist you in making this happen.
