Akuma Set-up Thread: AE 2012 Specific

I think I also found a setup against Bison that works in the corner. Actually, it’s Sol’s “Classic” Corner unblockable so Dash x 1, cr.MP, j.HK (meaty). Stuffed EX PC if i’m looking at the inputs correctly. Actually, and I haven’t done this in a while. I’ll post up vids of my matches on youtube tonight against Blanka and Bison so that you guys can analyse it and see if it’s legit/worth it.

Well, it’s still not completely 100% sure, but it’s a start. I also had some good results with this setup on Dee Jay: dash x 2, HK DF Palm whiff - causes reversal LK, MK, HK upkicks to whiff (EX reversal beats it). Reversal Super/Ultra get blocked.

This is really good. I don’t know if anyone posted this info or not, sorry if they have. This setup VS Yun:

F.throw > fs.hk whiff > hk DFK (delayed) (Beats lk, mk, hk, ex dp) *** Confirmed

Not only beats all of his reversals, but can’t be blocked low as whatever direction the Yun is holding to block while crouching is the side it hits on. This is especially good since people now know that “all demon flip endings can be blocked low” they will think they are safe to just low block. It even catches his backdash.

His only way out (besides blocking normally) is to hold forward on wakeup (like trying to block crossup) which makes this setup whiff. Then he can hit your landing frames.

Good shit on the corner 50/50s you are finding Sol.

yep up to date with every set up I have found. I made it for my iPod for tournements.

Ok found a usable set up in the corner against Honda. This one is a little different, but still very usable and hard to block.

Throw > Back Dash > Hold Foward

Now to visualize the spacing you need training mode. If you are as close to the corner as possible the back dash should put you behind the line on the floor. If your front foot crosses the line when you jump it is a cross up. If not it is a standard air attack that also acts as a safe jump.

I actually wouldn’t be shocked if there was an unblockable set up from this.

Against Gen

Throw > Dash > s.MP

j.LK = Fake Cross up that also beats neutral
j.MK = Fake Cross up that whiffs on neutral
Late j.MK = True Cross up that whiffs on neutral.

The overhead is a little too fast. So my predicted frame perfect set up is 38 frames.

In addition DJ’s reversals whiff.

Edit: Dash c.MK with perfect timing works.

Also, it works like a pseudo-crossup vs Fuerte (not fake crossup) with jump MK:

If he’s neutral: Crossup
If he’s blocking back: Crossup
If he’s blocking forward: He blocks a normal jump MK, Gouki finish in front of him instead of behind unlike the other guard.

If Sol keeps this up he’ll have everyone in the tier list discussion thread thinking akuma’s broken.

I’ve also gotten the DJ unblockable to work with dash, cl.mp. Seemed more consistent for me then dash, cr.mk but maybe it’s just me.

For those having problems with the DeeJay unblockable you need to kick him so that Akuma knee from the MK hit him in the head. If you fall behind him and kick for the back/shoulders the setup will not be unblockable.

That’s problem I’ve been having. It feels like you have to press mk a bit earlier but sometimes it ends up whiffing for me because of its crappy active frames.

When you press the MK does make a huge difference. Since DJ is really tall you want to press it a little earlier than you would think.

Tokidos f.throw > fs.hp > tk air fb in the corner is a pseudo cross up and by either doing the hp as soon as possible or slightly delayed will cause akuma to land either behind or in front.

I actually got an unblockable air fb on Ryu off a similar corner setup but I’m trying to dial in the timing.
