Akuma General Discussion Thread: "I am the Master of the Fist!"

I’ve been thinking of how Akuma could be balanced while still retaining all of his tools. How about:

  1. V-skill is the demon flip, but it does not cover a ton of ground. Used to mix up dive kick, throw, and sweep.

  2. Air fireball covers lower ground like in Alpha 1-3. This way he can zone but not just throw it from full screen all the time, and can use it to setup offensive pressure.

  3. V-reversal shouldn’t be too good, especially if he has teleport. Way too many escape options.

He should be a mix of zoning and rush down while using v-skill demon flip to build trigger, then go shin mode.

What if he just straight up turns into Oni for his V trigger? lol

Shin Akuma for Vtrigger make it permanent like Necalli. I absolutely refuse to accept anything else.

I think his teleports will become two separate vreversals, like vega

Oni is an ugly ass demon that really isn’t Akuma anymore. Shin Akuma is better simply because it’s still Akuma. He’s just no longer holding-back and hits hard as fuck.

Either Capcom is not going to care about CC into SGS or they could make it so that its not combo-able, pushing the opponent during the CC state or they recover prior to SGS connecting.

Who knows…I dont see a problem with CC into SGS…probably will just scale.

Every character can combo super after CC, even freaking zangief can. I dont see why akuma shouldnt be able to

Because people assume SGS will do 600 damage and not ~350 like the other CAs.

It should do 400.

Akuma is that old ass nigga with low health and broken ass offense. Akuma has low health because he makes YOU feel like you have low health! That’s what he is, that’s what the fuck he does!!! I wish people would stop trying to change this man!

hey guys, I was just thinking about akumas specials and which ones are “no brainers” to include…

And I actually ended up with only three:
Air Hadoken and Shakunetsu Hadoken and demon flip

At this point, Im not even sure he’s going to have a tatsu or uppercut… Why? Because there are no two similiar moves (except inv reversals which ‘act’ the same) in the game yet. Ryu got the tatsu over fireballs, ken got the tatsu into uppercut extensions… what would they even give akuma to make his tatsu “unique”…? I could only think about a vertical tatsu, but thats goukens move… and they wouldnt give him one of goukens moves, would they?

So… what if we’re going to get an akuma without srk or tatsu…? Would that scare you off or would you still be curious…?
