Meaty DF dive kick (huge combo) or DF throw will beat his duck, DF palm seems to whiff (maybe it’s a hitbox thing), but that can be option selected with sweep, SRK or even demon to beat the duck every time, so it pretty much loses to all of the DF options :P. His newer AE EX duck could be interesting, but it only has upper body invincibility so option selects should still beat that one clean.

Regarding AE: I’m pretty sure the update will be mandatory once it comes out. Thankfully it looks like we won’t have to change much with Gouki.

How do I do that cross up air fireball?

start at down, and do a fireball motion, but go to up forward, then hit punch

is it better to do far st.hk (double kicks)> cr.lk> lk.tatsu?
or is it better to do far st.hk> cr.mp> lk.tatsu?
i noticed cr.mp has farther range so why do i see so many people use the cr.lk?

Cr.lk has less push back. If you do cr.mp you’ll probably whiff the lk.tatsu, you’ll most definitely whiff the lk.tatsu if you’re at max range. It’s debatable if you’re get a deep st.hk.

No, because the hk tatsu will probably only hit twice from that range.

Especially against a character you can sweep after the tatsu, you should do cr. lk xx lk tatsu.

I see Tokido use c.mp hk tatsu alot. I assume only because they would be outside far s.jab, sweep range.

I tend to use c.jab alot. Less pushback but more damaging than c.lk.

Sup guys, is there a general all purpose move that will punish moves like Honda headbutt, Blanka roll etc? You know the kind of specials that push the user back a considerable distance when used.

I doubt i’ll be able to remember all the matchup info for each specific character, so I’m just curious if there’s something that decently that can punish these kind of moves? Not necessarily the best move to counter each specific character, just something that works decently all round. IF something like that exists.

^ Ahhh, fireball is too obviously and your best option till they have meter. Just don’t forget Blanka can slide under fireballs but if baited and blocked its big/free punish so he’ll think twice for sliding again.

Srk too but that’s purely for reaction situations. Thus fireball is your best bet.

Thanks, I tried this before and it got blocked; so I assumed it wasn’t quick enough. I only tried it the once though so my timing must have been off or something.

I’m pretty sure gyrosphere09 meant to counter those attacks preemptively with fireballs, they can’t be punished on block with fireballs.

Blanka balls can be punished if you blocked it while standing up (less pushback) with dash > sweep, but this is very hard to do (pretty sure there’s 1 frame window only), other than that you can just Ultra 1 his ass on block (I usually try to stuff the balls with cr. jab on reaction until I get U1).

As for Honda, I think it was mentioned either here or in the matchup thread that you can punish his fierce headbutt with walking up a bit then sweeping his recovery frames, I found it a bit hard to do, I don’t think his lp & EX headbutts can be punished with anything on block.

As for as blanka up ball goes, i just early palm, and most blankas will throw it out there anyways, and free sweep punish… any tricky rainbow balls can be focused

For honda, if they like to wakeup headbutt, or buttslam, a late df kick will beat out all headbutts, and butt slams, except for ex buttslam, which will usually wiff, and you’ll end up in a neutral position. otherwise, honda cant get over fierballs.

i have such a hard time trying to sweep after the lk tatsu. i get like 1/20 in training mode. any tip? lol

Plink it… when you hit the ground, go for it. I use the doube plink or what they call it. So i basicly piano HK~MK~LK really fast. I hope you not trying this on a character that you can’t sweep after a light tatsu X)

I have a question too:

I fought against a Gouken, and after i swept him, i did a TK air ex fireball on him and it seemed like it beated his wakeup ex counter clean. So Gouken was in a hit animaton within the focus absorb aura. I throwed him after that but i would love to know that if it’s a viable tactics against Gouken.
