I’m like 99% sure the SRK follow up isn’t a 1 frame link against any character, almost everyone (if not all) can be reset by cr.mk after lk.tatsu which is a 5 frame normal (SRK is 3 so there seems to be plenty of time to combo it). So IMO double tapping SRK is unnecessary for a pretty easy link you can get down in no time with some muscle memory (excluding online lag issues of course).
I always plink sweep though just to have a higher success rate when I need it against those that are hard to sweep.
Pretty sure the window for sweep is 2 frames. If it were anymore then Evil Ryu would be able to sweep a larger portion of the cast.
For sweep you should not only plink :hk:~:mk: but the whole kick set :hk:~:mk:~:lk:
As far as you cleanly input :hk: FIRST, this trick add another chance to plink if you missed the first :mk:
That’s what I see with -6, Tokido and Infiltration, pretty sure it’s a standard for any char anyway.

been playing akuma for a bit now and i’d like to incorporate more shit into my game. specifically, dp (1 hit) fadc combos. dp fadc cl.mp dp/tatsu sweep is a good 260ish. cr.lp > cl.hp provides much more damage potential however. the problem is dp fadc is +3 on hit
i see daigo plinks jab with select (lol). however, it almost feels like there’s some sort of buffer window at the end of the dash that makes the link a 2-framer. on the other hand, it could be that, having played sf4 a lot and therefore having pressed buttons immediately after a forward dash many times, muscle memory could be kicking in and making the link easier than it seems. thoughts?
is there a final list stating all the enemies we can tatsu sweep?

Only Oni and E.Ryu aren’t included, tatsu > sweep works on Oni but doesn’t on E.Ryu.
A good thing to help you remember is that you can’t tatsu sweep anyone from 3rd strike

Hello folks, newbie here. Playing Ryu atm, seems nice enough, simple, solid and versatile. Tried Akuma, the feel is great (dat movespeed. Plus I love sweep kicks). A bit frustrated by the change in toolset from small amount of versatile ones to a ton of more narrow ones and the feel of the tatsu, but hey, I think I can deal with that.
The question: I hate srk fadc ultra, which seems to be pretty key to Ryu’s game. So goddamn many inputs with qcf on square gate and all
I think I can bear through timing stuff like dive kicks, flip options, air fireballs and the like, but how reliant is Akuma on fadc wonkery?
Akuma has some FADC combos, they’re pretty easy overall but still very necessary to make up for his stun and damage nerfs throughout the series (i.e s.hp xx fireball FADC s.hp xx lk.tatsu, SRK or sweep) is a staple BnB punish combo when you have meter.
IMO if FADC > U1 can be frustrating for you with Ryu which you can get down in no time with some practice (using shortcut with U1 makes it even easier), Akuma’s tight setup timing requirements, normals that are generally harder to use than Ryu’s who has great active frames and hitboxes and of course low stun/health will be a lot more frustrating
without FADC you’ll be soon short on range to confirm an opening with damage. And you won’t open a guard at point blank that often.
Hm? Tried googling the shortcut thing, haven’t found a thing. There’s a shortcut for double qcf? Been playing more Akuma and practicing the Ryu combo in the meantime, both seem nice. The air fireballs are addictive as hell though, as is the fact that ultra demon is actually usable outside hitconfirm combos and the like.

You basically don’t have to use the forward motion in the first QCF.
will the “daigo option select” (jHK os srk) work for akuma?
Almost any option select works in this game given the right circumstances. Yes Akuma’s DP works as an OS DP.
