I tend to not teleport at times where I should as well, but many times i will teleport out of ambigious crossup attempts…that is if it fucking teleports at all. Super annoying when i expect a teleport and instead nothing happens giving my opponent a free win.
That’s what happens to me, nothing comes out and I get pulverized lol. How do you guys do it? I don’t mash the thing, just plain DP motion (623).
I just mash it because I never know exactly when to do the DP motion because I’m a scrub lol.
Sometimes it doesn’t come out. Sometimes it goes the wrong way (this really pisses me off…). Lesson? Like FAZ said, learn to Block/Tech instead of mashing TP or DP…
That’s not the lesson I was looking for, there are scenarios where either you teleport or just give the opponent free pressure (or, like, just die from chip damage), it doesn’t have anything to do with abusing the move lol…
I know. I was just trying to relate my frustration with the notion of “mashing” TP to get out of a sticky situation… Hence, the “lesson” was more for me, than for you! :razzy:
On some ambiguous setups you’ll want to do the teleport like you’re doing an autocorrect DP, so you don’t end up getting a s.hp or an ex shaku, both of which can happen if you mess up the teleport.
If the connection isn’t lagging, I usually do the DP motion once and press the 3 buttons twice, works well for me.
Which… uh… how do you do that? I generally try to do the DP as late as possible, but lately I’ve been getting murdered for that lol.
You just do downback downforward a bunch and press the puttons at the right time, Mike Ross and Air go over it in the Air Ryu tutorial.
I’ll go take a look, thanks!
Okay laugh away but i actually went to training mode and practiced mashing teleport for 5 minutes. I think the problem with me is that i am really used to doing it from a crouching position with also tends to fuck up because instead a cr.hp comes out which also rapes me. I need to mash from a standing position and it always comes out.
Lol, down, down-forward/back and down again works from a crouching position and its really easy.
I believe what Air and Mike Ross teach is D/F > U/F because using normal down with ryu will get a super to come out if it’s stocked, it works and it stops you from getting a red fireball when you want regular DP, tough to learn that concept though.
Correction: D/F > U/F > D/F, need 3 inputs with 2 Forward inputs i believe for DP motion
Won’t up-forward cause a jump?
Quick question. I’m using akuma as a secondary and I remember hearing on stream once about tokido preferring to use close st.LK in his combos and/or blockstrings. I can’t remember why they said he started doing that. Could you guys fill me in on why exactly one would want to use close st.LK ?
- He can option select it with far standing roundhouse to catch backdashes
- It gives frame advantage +2 on block and +5 on hit, so it’s great for frame traps and hit-confirming into combos
- It puts the opponent in pretty much a perfect spot for Akuma’s kara throw
I was doing some reading on 3rthd strike just now on Akuma, They were talking about kara Demon. Can you do it in SSFT4
AE?
