Akuma FAQs: Quick questions & answers!

So I’m sort of a scrub. I just want some basic tips on how to improve my akuma game. I have to b&b down. I know the vortex inside out but i still find myself losing more than half of my matches. Is there any basic tips for ssf4 ae or just gain expirence to get better. Any help would be nice thank you.

What’s the timing for lk.tatsu > c.hk? Sometime it works, sometime it doesn’t on the same character.

Few frames after akuma lands i think.Practice till you get it down. Plinking is your friend.jiz

Yeah ok i wrote that just to give him an idea of what the window is. A more correct example would be, tatsu->c.mk is 1f link on Ryu.
Anyways, that :stuck_out_tongue:

People always ask about tatsu to sweep lol. It’s easiest if you plink and just practice the timing in Training Mode. Try it first on Balrog and Dhalsim to get the general timing down. I’d say those 2 characters are easiest to tatsu > sweep. Then after you can hit it consistently on them, focus on what point of their fall you are hitting sweep and apply that to the other characters.

On another note, anyone noticed anything peculiar in Ranked Match? I’ve started playing it for the first time since getting this time and been getting huge win streaks (I think I’ve only lost like 2 matches out of 25 or something like that) but yeah, I got to ~2150PP today. So I logged on again at night and decided to play some more Ranked matches when all of a sudden I realised I had 1800PP. I was like WTF? Because I specifically remember trying to get past 2100PP before I went off. So I’m just wondering where my points went? Kinda irrelevant to this forum but I was just wondering if anyone had the same problem.

Is there by any chance possible at all to use the exploding heart setup to throw in Zankus to stuff shoryus? Its interesting because i recently saw JR beat ryu shoryus on normal jumps trying to protect his landing.

Faz, yesterday I quit a super laggy match (before any fighting and there were like 5sec pauses), and when i logged in again i was down by about 100ish pp. Something weird happened, dunno if its the same thing that happened to you. Im on PSN in uk…

If you quit the game before it finished saving or anything of the sort, you get penalized and lose points. It happened to me once. Won a match and had to go real quick. I thought it finished saving but when I logged on, I lost points (as in, I lost the points I had gained and then some). Maybe that happened to you?

You lose about 150 BP/PP if you quit the game either by disconnecting or turning off your console before the match is over. And yes, the End of Match screen where it tallies up the points is part of the match (for some reason)!! This was meant as a deterent against “Rage Quitters” who would quickly see their points drop if they kept quitting matches they couldn’t win: rather than lose 150 points by quitting, might as well lose 70 or even 80 points by losing the match.

Are you serious? That’s what happened, I got an invite after my match finished so I quickly joined. Well that’s annoying, I quickly made them back though. I’m yet to face a tough opponent on Ranked match though, maybe if I get past 3k points I’ll get some better opponents. Right now I’d rather play Endless though and face tougher opponents.

Yeah it does suck.

You could always set your search to players above your level for harder matches

You know when you do a c.MK xx Gohado; will the speed that the Gohado comes out depend on the punch version you used? or is it all the same regardless?

They all have the same start-up I believe. But the fireballs travel at different speeds depending on the punch button you used. EX fireballs all travel at the same speed though.

So if I’m just on the peak of c.MK range, it’s best for me to cancel into HP Gohado for a better chance of connecting?

peak cr.mk xx hp.GoHado will never be a true block string, though depending on the opponent it will connect on hit of cr.mk

CR MK xx fireball is never a true block string with Akuma, no matter how close.

s.HP > Hado is a block string. c.MK will always have a gap.

It has to do with the amount of block stun a move generates. It needs to generate at least 16+ frames of block stun in order to make a fireball a true block string. 16 is a best case scenario when it comes to how far away the target is. MK generates about what? 13-14 frames of block stun? So there will always be a gap. Now s.HP generates about 17-18 depending on if I did my math correctly and is always point blank. So for the most part

This is probably the result of online play but does anyone find that despite mashing teleport sometimes nothing comes out. Its fucking stupid and I can’t count how many times i’ve lost matches because i eat a crossup rather than teleporting…sigh

Not really, you’re probably not mashing hard enough, I always mash it when I want to do it and it comes out 100% of the time. I also find I NEVER teleport with Akuma. Like seriously, I go matches when I won’t teleport once and just block. Although I have to say my blocking and teching has got much better as a result of this. Maybe I should start teleporting more
