Okay, the cross-up tatsu. Any tips for it? It requires different timing for different characters, no? A lot of the time, I think Iām positioned properly, but I completely end up whiffing and I just get thrown or punished when I land.
Uhhhh, thereās really no way that I can describe the timing for a crossup tatsu. Best thing I can tell you is go to the lab and go through some of the cast that it seems to whiff the most on and see what you need to fix.

Is Akumaās ground fireball useless? Says on EventHubs under weaknesses āGround fireball is not suited for zoningā.
You can zone with ground fireballs pretty easily if you use jab fireballs.
Bait the jump-in, punish with Mp.SRK/Demon/fs.Hp.
Other than that, itās⦠okay for zoning. Not the best, but okay.
Not really as fast as Ryu/Sagat/Guile, startup too is longer, while recovery is about 1 frame shorter than Ryuās but still large: you gotta know the distance or youāll lose from 1/3 to 1/2 health from a jump in.
āNot suited for zoningā is simply wrong though (especially give Akumaās antiair tools), itās just that as far as fireballs go, theyāre pretty average if not sub par.
I understand links ( for the most part) and Iāve been trying to learn some hit confirms with akuma and ive even got a few down ( c.LK-c.LP, c.MP and few others). What I dont understand is how to avoid reversals when going in for links. Im newish to SF ( I play tekken) but I understand getting in is all about experience and reacting to things etcā¦im almost reluctant to attempt my links because I know Ill be DPād out of them.
Any advice?
You basically hit confirm with your chains (ex. c.lp x2). If they get hit finish that link for a combo and if they block your chain do a short pause, if they are mashing DP you will block it and punish, if they didnt mash you can proceed with frame traps (ex. a c.mp after your chain) or a throw. Common sense right? Although if u get a hit and fail to finish the link and get DPed it means only one thing, more training for you so you dont drop your links
Thanks. That confirms what i already knew, I guess its all in this application, Im finding as soon as I stick a limb out, DP. must be an execution/timing problem, right? My shit just isnt tight enough?
They canāt mash during tight chain attacks (i.e cr.lp chained into another cr.lp) on block, but you will eat a DP if you went from cr.lp into cr.mp because thatās not a chain. Also no matter how Godly is your execution offline in training mode (or vs a friend), if youāre playing online vs someone with high latency or getting lag spikes, you will still be vulnerable to dropped combos even if your execution was on point.
How do you combo with Akumaās U2, I lost patience, put my pride aside and I am asking for help.
I saw Tokido do it, c.LP.MP+Ashura Senku + U2. And of course there is marvelous DESK who combo with U2 with anything he feels likeā¦he disgust me( he makes it look so easy)

I love doing double dash mk df kick after a forward throw on shotos and stuffing DP. Lately though itās been trading with Ryu (non Ex). My timing isnāt off what gives? Does it only stuff lp and hp srk?
Does it say āReversalā when they DP or not? Because if they delay their SRK (non-reversal) they can beat your dive kick if itās right at them because itāll still be invincible.
I personally donāt like stuffing SRKs that are airborne on the first frame after the invincibility frames are over (Ryuās mp & hp DPs) because itāll just give you an air reset and lousy damage, itās been a while since I used forward throw x2 dashes into mk DF dive kick so Iām not really sure what the results should be, I usually aim for the SRK to whiff entirely to get a nice full punish.
Or it could just be really good porn, or in the case of Desk, a simply sick combo video
x2 dash mk DF kick trades with Ryu indeed. They best thing to do but also really hard to produce is dash, take a small step, rh DF, small delay and dive kick.
Change that up to fwd throw, 2 x dash, x-up tatsu or fwd throw 1 x dash, HK DF Dive Kick once in a while to mess with his timing. Lately Iāve been trying to land the x-up tatsu and then continuing to do it. I was able to land 3 x-up tatsu/sweep on a Ryu last week before he finally stopped trying to mash throw hoping to catch me whiffing the tatsu and blockā¦
