Akishop PS360+ & the PlayStation 2

Hi everyone.

I’ve heard that the PS360+ PCB can work with the PS2 via the RJ45-PS2 cable that can connect directly to the PCB. Has anyone verified this? I’m interested in getting one when they’re back in stock so that I can mod my SSF4 Tournament S Stick with it.

Ya. I’m wondering if there some special setting on ps360+ because I plugged in ps2 rj45 cable into it but I couldn’t get it to work with my ps2. I know the PCB works because it works on Xbox and ps3

No It works. You just have a bad cable :frowning:

There was a recent problem with one of the firmware versions, but TRNG said that had been fixed now.

If you’re running V1.1 and still having problems, then try forcing PS2 mode by holding down 1K (LK)

Ill try this

So I tried forcing the PS2 mode and it didn’t work…so it does appear that my cable manufacturer was either drinking or sleep deprived when he made it :stuck_out_tongue:

You need to make sure it is definitely the cable at fault. Test for continuity of the pins and look at the RJ45 plug to make sure the wires have been crimped in the correct places. Ideally you would test your existing cable out on a Kitty or MCC+IMPv2…

I’ve had a couple of problems with detecting PS2 mode using a PS360+ though the cables themselves have been fine.

I am having this same problem. The person who did my stick modding for me said he tested the cable and it worked on his PS2. However, it will not work with my PS2, even after updating the firmware and holding down X to force PSx mode. I only have one older fatty PS2 to test this with so unfortunately I’m not sure exactly what the problem is.

Is it possible that this PCB does not support all PS2s, or should I look into getting a new cable or PCB?

other info:
Firmware update to 1.1 would not work following akishop-customs’s documentation, however I was able to sucesfully update to 1.1VA which should be equivalent minus the R3/L3 macros.

Stick works perfectly fine on PS3 and PC with all configuration settings working properly. Do not own a 360 to test.

update to my issue:

the ps360+ seems to be picky about what ethernet > ps2 cables it will work with, the one i was provided with didn’t work but when i ordered the one off of focus attack it worked properly (only by using forced ps2 mode by holding down X)

i don’t believe that this pcb properly recognizes most PS2s, at least it doesn’t with the ones that i have tried it on, just use the forced mode though, no big deal

does this board work with xbox1 and if no, then why not doe? gotta support them modded xbox1’s doe

The latest firmware update (v1.3) for the PS360+ PCB now supports the original Xbox.

I got my PS360+ today and I’m enjoying it with a couple of PS2 fighting games. I just wish it worked with tekken 5 though (for some reason, I can’t play tekken 5 or TTT1 on the ps2 with it even in forced mode). I even upgraded it to the latest firmware. Can anyone fix this?

Side note: In addition, since I haven’t soldered my my TE’s USB cable wires to the solder points on the PCB yet, I hoped that a USB/PS2 adapter would do the job on the PS3 but unfortunately, nothing worked. When I used the PSX forces mode upon plugging in the cable, the x button clicks onto a submenu, but upon letting go, none of the inputs work. And also, since I have no RJ45 to Xbox1 cable, I hoped that an old PSX to Xbox/GC adapter would help me use my PS360+ TE on the original Xbox. Sadly, this didn’t go through either (not even on Xbox forced mode).

Upgraded to Firmware 1.31. Still no good on some PS2 games.

Acurate PS2 function is one from the most awaited feature. What’s the purpose of 1.31 then? Oh, great…fix macros.

The PS360+ doesn’t work with Dodonpachi Daiou Jou on the PS2, even forcing the PS1/2 mode, I tried plugging and unplugging the cable holding X while doing so, I tried several times just to make sure, it doesn’t work.

i had recently problems with this shitty pcb, when starting CvS2 i had to disconnect and reconnect the ps360+ :frowning: in my beautiful mccthulhu that didn’t happen in late firmwares

Issues on Compatibility with PS2 titles on the PS3 is fault of Sony, not Akishop. It gotten worst since firmware 4.50. It ishow the PS2 emulation handling the electronic handshake with Wired USB controllers and a game that designed for a PS2 controller port.
Mad Catz and (some) Hori controllers as well as the Cerberus, Paewang and even Toodles PCB are having the exacte same issues

What I found worked with CVS2 and other PS2 titles on the PS3 is this

1 Start the game with a Sony Six Axis or Dual Shock 3
2 pause the game and hit the home button to go into PS3 controller setting menu
3 assigned the controller to 2/2A and made sure it was analog
4 plug in your arcade stick of choice
5 have fun

Curious, where did he mention running the software on a ps3? In fact, he specifically mentions trying to force it into the PS1/PS2 mode.

Hey is that my laundry calling, bye… (Runs off)

here’s my experience with PS360+ with ACTUAL PS2 FAT and SLIM hardware.

PS2 FAT with FMCB and HDLoader/OpL:

  • turn on ps2 with ps360+ stick plugged in = no work
  • turn on ps2 THEN plug ps360+ stick after bios has booted = works

-load any app/elf with stick plugged in = no work, needs to be replugged

-Open game from HD Loader with stick plugged in = no work until replug
-Open game from OpL with stick Plugged in = no work until replug

-Game has booted and begins loading after launch from HDL/OpL = no work until replug

so basically the process was: BIOS/FMCB menu -> apps like HDL/OpL -> Game itself

each time one of these items loads, it seems to refresh the ps360+'s connection, basically, you’d need to make replug the stick to activate auto-detect on each of the steps underlined above.

As for PS2 slim, unmodded one, it works just fine, but similarly, you have to plug in the stick when the actual game loads, or else you’d seem to need to do the reconnect process.

I can confirm that seems like some games just dont like PS360+, notably, the CAVE shmups. I personally have tried it on DDP DOJ, Espgaluda, Ibara and Mushihimesama, with ESPGaluda being a legit copy of the game running on NTSC-J PS2 slim. All of those games doesn’t read the PS360+

gave up and just ran ps1 padhacks, sucks, but yeah.

So it all boils down to the electronic handshake, the controller disconnects intermittently due to software forcing the reboot, and the PS360+ goes back to its default mode.
