DevilJin going in and goin hardddd on the new games
Also, there’s the ‘the easier it is to do things the more good people will figure out to do!’
Which is the real thing with MvC2 actually. It’s SUPER easy and friendly to new players, but that means it was just all the easier to take apart and figure out crazy-ass high level things for.
Air dash nerf seems to have killed Chun since now she has no real way of getting in, already she had a hard time getting in <.<
I would not expect any less from this game.
I don’t know how alive Chun was in the first place. She could’ve be dead enough to be Hsien-Ko’s long-lost cousin.
For a lot of people, scrub friendly is as you say: a blanket for anything they don’t like.
However, in the case of MvC3 and its engine, it really is scrub friendly. There are too many things changed in this game to literally make it easier for people to pick up and play. That was one of the primary goals of Niitsuma and his team.
Universal launcher.
X-Factor.
Button Layout.
Single-button Character switch.
(Up until now) Blocking during Airdash.
And others.
The game was made SPECIFICALLY to be scrub-friendly, while still being deep enough for the true players who wanted to take the game to where it needed to be.
Referenced this in a post after your quote, so was MvC2. Its exactly the same ethic at work, but with more ‘hey we should actually put thought into this game’.
MVC2 was made to be easier to play but there were no mechanics in MVC2 where you press buttons and kill people off or get moves that give 15 second hit confirms into easy, can’t drop combos that rape your life. You didn’t have to fear losing your entire team to them doing randomness with Wesker or Wolverine in XF. You didn’t have to worry about them mashing on Haggar and Tron assist which come out even if you make a good read on them and hit them. You hit the scrub? Oh well he was mashing on Tron/Haggar first so you don’t get rewarded. Thankfully at least the Tron/Haggar thing is getting fixed.
They shouldn’t have anything in a game that like shuts down creative play (Vanilla Haggar/Tron assists) or things that just allow you to hit confirm without actually hit confirming or just generally have a chance to kill off teams with 4 buttons. Like even having the CHANCE to kill off an entire team with just XF alone (killing them before it expires) is absurd.
Ultimate MVC3 like Vanilla SFIV to Super SFIV is fixing a lot of these things but until tutorials become a regular part of Capcom fighters…it won’t do any good for finding more competent people online. Not much incentive for people to build off of reactions and gameplans. Just spam the easy and when it gets shut down, put in Dark Souls or Uncharted 3.
I hate how fast these threads in this section move.
Thanks for letting me know.
I sincerely wish people would learn what the definition of scrub is. Every new or casual player is not a scrub.

Dude, people are complaining that there aren’t totally invincible GTFO! assists in the game now, as specifically compared to marvel 2.
Wesker/Wolverine were a clear balance/testing problem, I’ll grant you that.
Haggar definitely approves of these changes. :nunchuck:
That’s absolutely true. But I’m not talking about new players who wanted to learn and “take the game to where it needed to be”. I’m talking about players who get the game, take it home, unwrap that shit, swallow a few beers and just mash buttons thinking they’re great and actually lucking out wins against people. People who have no interest in really learning the game, but will just stick with the simple little shit they know and never make any attempt at progression. Those are the scrubs. And they can win in MvC3.
*Edit: So what if I started a sentence with ‘but’ and ‘and’…
Noah confirmed for top 8 in UMVC3 at Evo 2012…
It’s really more of a mentality than anything. The two concepts often get meshed into the same word, though. (ninja’d by bmckay)
Sorry for being so cynical in my last post. It’s so easy to be that way, but it’s what makes a community irritable. No reason not to be disappointed, though.
Can someone please explain to me why forcing players to think more about their approaches is considered dumbing down the game and giving in to scrubs? So apparently thinking is something that only scrubs do?
They can win… against people like you who spend more time bitching and moaning rather than learning how to beat those “simple little shit”. The rest who have actually bothered to learn the game has no problems against those scrubs at all.

I think it’s for the better of the game honestly I think it will force people to get better at marvel based footsies.
i.e. More use of backwards wave dashes instead of airdash down back for spacing and smarter jump ins
Congrads shoryuken is now an viable AA!!!
THIS. Removing safe airdash is exactly the opposite to the “scrub-friendliness” that many games are being designed toward. Being forced to commit to things is a feature that fighting games designers seem to feel was a bug.
well I tend to think that airdashes in general are too scrub-friendly so…
then why aren’t you playing sf4? why does every game need to be casual friendly? there are casual friendly games for you, play those. Versus series has been the defnite technical franchise for 15 years so why should casual players have a say to change it? I choose mvc2 over st\cvs2\3s because it took more technical skill. If I wanted to just be casual about it, 3s\st were much easier games to get into by comparison. I didn’t say well 3s sucks it should be more technical!! I simply choose another game that was more technical. There is a big fundamental difference here. Casual players demand w\e they like to be casual where as I picked the game based on the technicality.
and if your schedule is so dense you don’t have time to play, maybe you should find something else to do with your time.
