Air Dash Nerf. Lets talk about it

Who does this utterly DESTROY right off the bat?

Who should it affect but doesnt because they TECHNICALLY have command airdashes?
-Spencer
-Spiderman
-Zero

Again, Capcom with the WTF factor. In making characters with true airdashes weak, there are still some characters who can slip through the cracks and remain strong while the bulk of the cast gets nerfed. Not to mention teleport characters will be immune to this “universal airdash nerf.”

I’m expecting to see a shitload of DHC’s into instant supers on full-screen airdashing. Is this really necessarily or is this really unnecessary?

I just dont get Capcom anymore. You want to put more emphasis on zoning, ok we get it.

Also, I can’t possibly fathom how Thor’s airdash will be any slower.

It will definitely hurt Viewtiful Joe. Airdash>:s: was one of his major tools to getting in on that ass. He has plink airdashing as well.

It sucks, it was completely unnecessary, and it was stupid.

I’m fine with it, makes it more technical. I’m all for anything that makes you think or have a reason to be cautious. There were very few risks associated with rushdown in Vanilla.

Um unless I missed something the front page says that the d/b air dash was slowed down. It doesn’t say anything about the other directions speed wise

considering that they want to make the zoning game stronger (and from what i heard the dominant gameplay style) im not surprised with this move

We should wait and see exactly “how” nerfed airdashes are before passing judgement IMO. For all we know, slower speeds could be barely noticeable.

Well it’s going to be interesting that’s for sure as to my knowledge this change will make UMvC3 the first air dash fighter that didn’t allow for air blocking during dashes. IMO a better way to balance the strength that such mobility grants those who posses it is to allow for blocking during air dashes (or more specifically cancelling air dashes into blocking) but to give characters move that are air unblockable. The more I see of UMvC3 the more I think that the game will still be fun (I was losing faith in the game ~1 month ago) but that those who are making it lack direction.

The air dash changes were NOT new… not sure why people are only noticing them now? They been around as long as UMvC3 has been playable?

On the topic of Amaterasu, not being able to block has been public news since UMvC3 first had details as well. Which is somewhat understandable as her blockable forward dash in the air created some problematic matchups.

But honestly, people are making too much of a big deal of the changes. UMvC3 has been around for months now and you don’t see people dropping Magneto/Doom/etc because of air dash nerfs… and Amaterasu has some new tricks to replace the lost air dash blocking… not to mention morrigan got increased damage as well as other upgrades and is much stronger than she used to be.

It said characters with 8 way air dash are getting nerf. I don’t think they mean if you have an air dash period.
