They should change this thread to: Air Dash Nerf. Let’s cry about it. Im still gonna abuse airdases like it does chip damage. I like the change, it makes matchups more diverse. It makes more sense. What if you could block while ground dashing? Yep, it would be stupid and its even stupider to be able to do it in the air. We have all exploited this broken mechanic at some point, but the day when this stops is Nov 15. So if you want a game that lets you airdash from fullscreen and get in for free just stay in your comfort zone and keep playin Vanilla.
Have you even played this game? Only 7 characters in the game with normal ground dashes cannot cancel them into a block from the first frame of the dash. And as far as I’m aware, one of those 7 can jump cancel from any frame of his dash into up back. 4 of them can block after they reach the halfway point of the dash frames.
But you’re not blocking during the dash. You’re cancelling it into something else.
I could be wrong, but isn’t there three frames first because you have to jump back, and you;re vulnerable for three pre-jump frames unless you’re MODOK?
I’m pretty sure you have that backwards (as in MODOK is the only one who can’t block during his “hover” start up), but either way, that still leaves 30 characters in the game that can just push back and block from the first frame of their ground dash which was my point.

The thing is, It only affects those with two way airdashes, that are also slow, or 8 way airdashes that are REALLY slow. Take a look at those it affects most… No, its not everyone who has an airdash (even though it affects them)

Might be missing some people but whatever. the point is that blocking during airdashing helped primarily lower tier and lesser played characters who had little other ways of getting in. We’ll take Viewtiful Joe or Morrigan for example. They both like to zone with fireballs, then try to get in with an airdash because their ground dashes suck(or are non existent) Joe can also use Red Hot Kicks, which work well to an extent but they have pretty bad end recovery) Now V.Joe only has 2 risky options while Morrigan only has 1. So you see, its a huge nerf, and its to the wrong people They shoulda made 8 way airdashes way slower if they were trying to nerf the best, not no blocking during all dashes.
Cept Amaterasu’s dash. Fuck dat option selecting bitch.

What I was saying is that MODOK’s “jump” HAS no startup. He can attack or move on the first frame after pressing up. BUT, he cannot block for a few frames after he gets into the air, because of the lack of startup.
And I thought that characters ground dashing had to do up-back and had three vulnerable frames before they could block.

You have options even though random airdash is no longer one of them.
Any character that can cancel their airdash into a move can be made more safe.
Airdash canceled into :l: and block.
Airdash canceled into a special and block/attack.
Airdash canceled into super and attack.
Airdash with an assist and continue forward movement.
Airdash canceled into a teleport either up or down or behind your opponent when they try to punish your airdash.
All I’m saying is you guys should stop overreacting. If your character can only airdash to get in, I would advise picking a new character.
Magneto / Storm / Doom / Morrigan / Iron Man / Omega Red / etc. sure did have awful MvC2 rushdown, being unable to block out of airdashes.
Also, flight sure is terrible across the board! I mean, you can’t block. Gasp!
MvC3 Wolvie / Phoenix / Wesker / Magneto / Dante / Doom / etc. etc. sure did rush down a lot with airdash into their face > block. Oh, wait.
Much ado about nothing. Also, Morrigan is fine. So you can’t parabola dash from fullscreen. That wasn’t actually a good idea before, either?
Vanilla MvC3 is the outlier in this case. Ultimate is just returning airdashes to how they should function. Reactionary thread remains reactionary.
I agree with bmckay. Even the characters with the slow long AD’s like Spider-man won’t suffer that much. We just need to adapt and call assists while air dashing and we shouldn’t be screwed over. I must admit even though i love spidey, the way he blocked in an air dash was kinda ridiculous. I crossed people up while using my assists over and over again and they could not even hit me or grab me.
Haven’t you heard? Having to adapt is dumbing the game down.
Oh, I’ve been around since SF2, people whining or lacking perspective is nothing new, and just about everyone starts from that position. But Internet culture sure seems to encourage false feelings of entitlement.

Morrigan’s ground dash is an air dash. That’s kind of the point of all of my posts in here. She can’t dash at all with setting herself up for beam hypers. Her only safe method of approach is walk forward now. In Marvel 3. You know, the game with the ass walk speeds and ridiculously large stages? She has to get in like Arthur. Except, she walks slower than Arthur, and well, most of her game plan is about getting in, unlike Arthur’s. It’s a severe nerf to an already middle of the pack at best character.
Airdash flight cancels?
I am well aware. She is still improved from vanilla. I like this incarnation much more. The solution is not to ground dash with Morrigan. I pretend like it isn’t there.
She’s the single worst character in the game to unfly and block with, because she’s the only character with a flight mode that has recovery. It’s only a single frame, but add it to reaction time, and input time on the QCB, and she will get hit with things that Magneto/Storm/Etc would not have. With her actual in air air dash you’ll be able to block in about the same time frame but just letting go of forward if you’re already in her extended dash. She can shield herself with her own projectile sure, but Soul Fist only has 5 durability. Her flight mode also ends up being far more like Sentinel’s than Magneto’s in the end, because she can’t attack immediately out of an air dash, and can’t 8-way dash.
A minor damage increase she can only take advantage of after she gets in is not an improvement when she can no longer approach. She didn’t get any damage buffs to Soul Fist that we know of, leaving it at one of the lowest damage (70k for Soul Fist, Ryu’s Hadouken is 100k, Akuma’s is 90k, and Wesker’s gun shot is 80k) projectiles in the game. She can no longer rush the dedicated keep away characters that she also can’t out zone. Astral Vision is still too slow to not get beamed on reaction.
Basically, none of her good match ups changed, all of her bad match ups got worse, and most of her neutral went to bad.
