You’re making it so hard for me to not go into “IN MY DAY/DAMN KIDS ON MY LAWN ARE SO SPOILED!” mode.
How did the air dash nerf thread turn into this any way? LOL.
Hah, I can’t even begin to know. I tried reading back a few times and… it still doesn’t make sense.
I’m pretty sure it just means everyone got over the air dash nerf.
There’s only one reason why threads turn out like this. MvC2 purists who don’t GAF about MvC3 apparently yet are in every single thread on the MvC3 boards.
Quite baffling.
After seeing their Good Games thread, I’m not surprised. All they do is bicker and fight with each other, then try to call it “hype”.
I’ve been puzzled by this sort of thing for a while. It’s like when the Parents Television Council (look it up) gets their panties all in a bunch over offensive content on television and one is left wondering why there are people watching TV that they’re pretty sure they’re not going to like or relate to just to see how offensive it is to them. Also the MvC2 purists remind me of these guys:
I’ll just leave this here
I honestly think that more people would give SG a chance if they could get past the aesthetics.
Lettuce be reality.
Its not gonna be as bad as u guys think. everyone acting like ur gonna be flying around tri dashing like mario in super mario world 2. its only getting a minor speed decreased. probably wont even be that bad
ITT: People need to look up “scrub” in the Internet Dictionary.
You’re jumping the gun here - your complaints about that part definitely echo mine about another maligned genre, the MMORPG. I’m pretty sure there’s other genres that have the same kind of tutorial problems. RTSes, for one.
We do have those problems, don’t get me wrong but stating that every other genre does this well… I can think of a few examples but pretty much nobody got this right when it comes to multiplayer games.
Dude, I spent like, five minutes on that melodramatic piece of crap and all you can think of is your lawn?
Fuck your lawn.
I seriously wanted to say ‘when nobody knew how to beat Jump Kick/Sweep we just put in another quarter!’
I spent like 5 bucks trying to beat SF2 with 'sim one afternoon. It makes it hard to accept ‘they get frustrated and give up!’ Somebody that gets pissy and stops playing when something is hard, a nice tutorial isn’t gonna save.
According to youtube vids people are definitely getting over it. Plus…the game has a lot of more masculine innuendos and stuff guys can relate to. A lot of the female characters do a lot of tomboyish or generally guyish/macho stuff any way.
You’d be surprised. Plus…it’s also for the people who generally would like to learn but learn with something more interactive than watching vids on youtube and reading shit on SRK. Not everybody can just translate tutorial stuff into fights quickly or even have the basics down enough to start doing that. There’s no better way to teach someone to play than teach the through what they paid for and teach them in real time situations. There’s just no reason not to have something in the game that catches people up with the game sooner than later after they get blown up without knowing any basics. There’s just no reason not to do it. It literally can only make the fighting game scene better and is worth doing for every fighter.
To be fair, it’s kind of hard not to get discouraged when some random online beats you from pillar to post like their name is Ike Turner. No tutorial can prepare you for that.
Good to hear. Let’s see how the community receives it.
I get that, and a lot of other people get that, but frankly there’s a big chunk of players who, simply because the game engine mystifies them, give up at that point after they waste a few bucks trying to figure it out. Keep in mind this is often reinforced by a skill gap between the new player and the person raping their shit, at least to some degree. The new player just doesn’t now how to approach because they literally don’t understand anything.
Like I said, there’ll always be some players who don’t want to learn and will be useless piles of crap no matter what anyone does to try do otherwise, but there’s a distinction between scrubbiness borne out of a willful refusal to adapt or learn, and scrubbiness borne out of misunderstanding and ignorance for the way the game works.
Sho’nuff: Hell, in my day we didn’t get discouraged when people shoved us off the machine or punched us!!!
… altho that usually meant we were winning.
Edit@IH8M Maybe I’ve been at it too long, but I just can’t accept that something like MvC or SF4 is that mystifying unless you’re playing against somebody WAY out of your league.
It really doesnt  u mad bro?
In hindsight its not THAT bad, just unnecessary.
Yeah the game was too braindead, but at the same time Capcom stay trying to “fix” shit but then its not all across the board ie: how fixing should be. They discriminate between characters, when the main problem with this game was the system.
What you do…buff keepaway. Keepaway wasnt weak in Vanilla. Dios X pretty much proved that by himself.
Then they add every teleporting character you can possibly thing of, then take away instant block during forward airdash. THe dev team is severly misinformed, and I’m lead to believe FG companies don’t really lurk SRK to appease the needs to the competitive community. The same community that will more or less play these fighters after the casuals have traded it back in.
