Okay I’m pretty sure Paul his Jab got nerfed -.-
I was committing jab pressure against chunli and I got stuffed by her cr. Lk right after my second jab. At first I thought well her cr.lk is 3 frames maybe I mistimed it or something. But then I got stuffed again against LAW and as far as I know he doesn’t has any fast light attacks.
So I’m guessing they nerfed his jabs with a couple of frames, it’s still positive on block but you can’t abuse it as easily as before >.>

UPDATE: I’ve been testing his jab in training mode. I’ve been spamming my record dummy with standing jab and I couldn’t reversal with a DP so I’m guessing it’s still +5 on block.
It would’ve been much better if capcom just showed us al the changes they did -.-

I’m sure we all will feel extremely unpleasant when you try mashing SRK after blocking HP Smasher in the training mode now.

Yes, i can punish it right now with a 3-4 frames moves even at max range, so another nerf ?

According to Japanese DLC info, it got nerfed from -5f on block to -9f on block :tdown:

And i noticed the pushback has been reduced… so even if your spacing is good, you’re not safe.

Any link about that japanese dlc info ?

I mean paul was clearly too strong dominating every aspect of the game, leading the tier charts and having abusable options throughout his movelist… oh wait.

edit: just tested it. it’s -10 now like his lp and mp version.

now he is bottom trash tier for real… well will drop this game with p4a anyway. still, makes me sad.

I simply thought that their moves were fast, like Kazuya his cr.MK or LK. Oh well guess I can’t spam phoenix smasher anymore, gotta stick with that mortar punch now, it’s a better option anyway so not THAT big of a deal tbh. But still I don’t think I’ll ever use Phoenix smasher again, I was already using his razor mountain in combos nyways.
Their last patch is their last hope of me playing that game, if that patch isn’t gonna fix what needs to be fixed, then I’m officially DONE !!!

It’s in Japanese btw, and there’s nothing much new other than Paul’s nerf, Poison’s glitch fix, and made Raven’s L version Base Field cancel into Shuriken impossible.

I’m sure it’s a placebo effect, but I feel Paul has a slightly better walk speed. I like to sway with my characters, and I feel Paul can kinda do it, lol. Ken’s walkspeed was definitely improved.

What was Poison’s glitch?
This all makes me very, very sad for Paul. But hey, I guess I had to drop a character eventually.

They didn’t really change him, his Phoenix Smasher was always punishable, now it is just punishable by EVERYONE ^^'
Maybe it was always their intention for making Phoenix Smasher unsafe and punishable on block.

The real gamechanging patch is still to come, you just gotta wait AT LEAST a whole month…

Well not drop. But as a terrible player, it is hard to play a character with such faults until my fundamentals improve. I will always use him, but now that dlc character is out my plan is to find the perfect partners for my other characters, Bob and Nina, and work with Paul later.
That beibg said, which dlc works best with paul? I am thinking a controlling point character with a reversal, great wall carry, and a lack of oki pressure. Lars?

When both sides shoot Aeolus Edge, there was a glitch where it sometimes didn’t erase each other but instead went through.

My team used to be Xiaoyu/Paul, and now I have Lei. I’m probably going to have to find another character for Paul, provided I’ll be playing more than 2 characters.

Capcom, lol. Nerfing one of the worst characters. I won’t be playing Paul until he gets buffed - I love the character but he’s just so awful.

So Ryan Hunter said there were no nerfs at all to Paul, and that we are just imagining things.

I’m not fool, his jab and his Smasher HP are not the same.

Capcom doesn’t lie when it comes to nerfs. I’ll test the jabs tmrw.

Like I said before, his Jab is the same. Test it out in training you’ll see, he still has a ridiculous amount of frame advantage on block.
And about his Phoenix Smasher I simply don’t know, it has always been punishable on block lol, and the only ones that punished my phoenix smashers so far were characters with fast and long normals like Kazuya and Ryu etc.

If his phoenix smasher really is -10 frames on block, then that means almost every character can punish it with super !!

Should have checked my frame data app, it has always been -10. Man, I should think before I speak: getting yelled at by my sfxt idol, feel like a dog getting kicked by its owner.

BTW the Brady Guide was wrong; HP Smasher was -5f pre-patch.
