Why are you guys so shocked speedruns used glitches and exploits? It has literally been that way forever and how else do you think they shave off massive amounts of time usually (besides optimization/management/enemy patterns)? Especially for long ass rpg’s
Why do you think anyone was shocked? It’s isn’t shocking, it’s just boring when it’s the same glitch all the time and not a show of skill in most cases
I mean, it’s impressive someone found that kind of stuff and I recognize that routing takes thought and planning, but runs that are only that and don’t show off executional skill just aren’t interesting to watch for some people, myself included
So the BOTW donation was met! Will be after Majora’s Mask.
mis-executed? That was top tier.
BOTW coming up next. Tune in!
That’s a trap on the right? Just thought that’s a really ugly chick.
remember when dude blew up his “Girl’s” spot talking about a 1 year transition? wow that was awkward…
Horse RNG kicks in, but Orcastraw saves the day! (almost)
Sorry, I just wasn’t watching with 100% attention, so I didn’t see him mouth into his headset “oh borders, not brothers”.
So I just looked up when he tapped his headset like he was listening to something. I was thoroughly confused.
By the way, about that last run.
Granted that the community is stupid for trying to “optimize the game”, but this dude is kinda an ass for pretty much taking anyone else’s future chance at AGDQ. Let alone when there are runners with better times that didn’t submit their runs to wait. Anything 4 da followers.
lol it’s an open submissions process, you can’t dictate shit even if most of the community is behind it.
Lol fuck the community, that’s like all the top Tekken 7 players agreeing not to turn up to EVO this year because they aren’t ready and want to make it look good and then getting mad when some random Akuma beats some random guy who doesn’t know you can step fireballs for the championship.
Those guys are straight bitches’ bitches.
And it’s finished. Raised about 1.8 million dollars this year
I honestly think it’s kinda foul to wait for the last second to submit just so that no one else could do it, knowing they wouldn’t because of their dumb agreement. But it’s another case of speedrunners being weird as fuck, nothing new.
Reminds me of:
Just white people things.
Nah your hypothetical doesn’t really align. They might not allow BotW at agdq now. A time where better skips and times would have been made. It does make sense and was snakey on the dude/dudette’s part
Eh, if all these old ass snes games keep getting redone BoTW will, if it’s good enough.
Fuck all this community agreement shit, what a person decides to enter or not isn’t a fucking democracy, it’s fucking ridiculous that these fuckboys thought they could force every other person in the world who might want to speedrun BoTW to not run it at this event and now they got egg all over their goddamn faces.
And hell even if they don’t get to play BoTW at agdq or whatever they’ve had enough time playing themselves instead.
It’s like Smashboards and Smogen loosers, it’s like the wannabe commanders in Overwatch pickup games, they only have any fucking power where you listen to their dumb asses and yesterday it was just slammed in their faces that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBGWtVOKTkM
And it is delicious.
Fuck all those guys and the authority they thought they had which turned out to be fucking nothing, I don’t care if they could have done better with half a year, they missed their chance because they tried to make themselves out as kings of that game decreeing what the rest could do with it and one guy went “fuck that” and did his own thing, tough shit.
Eh, if all these old ass snes games keep getting redone BoTW will, if it’s good enough.
Fuck all this community agreement shit
That’s a pretty foolish statement considering that while speedruns are performed by one person, they aren’t cracked by only one person. The end result of a speedrun is usually hundreds of hours done by a dedicated group of people. So when that dude went in there to do a run, he was technically showing off all the stuff that scene had done to crack the game.
Sure, you can say that its silly they didn’t want to do it at all. Its a brand new game, if they could get it down to 50 minutes, that’s a good start for getting everybody’s feet wet. On the other hand, keep in mind that a lot of these guys take great pride in showing off all the stuff that’s been figured out for the game. So to them its as much about showing off the collective hard work they’ve done than necessarily showing off. A lot of these guys get a huge kick of out the little things they’ve figured out.
Notice what they highlight on commentary. A lot of stuff they have to point out because it isn’t really special to outsiders. This is a frame perfect here, this is a tight window there, in the Super Panga World run the dude had been told by another guy what to do for one section. The runner didn’t figure it out by himself, that’s a community thing.
Really, fuck you if you think that it should ever be a fuck the community situation. That’s not how the end product gets to you and its beyond foolish to besmirch the people that are doing that. They put a lot of emotion into their speed runs. Its a huge labor of love.
I agree, unless it’s one of those twenty minute, out of bounds glitch-fests… The whole community can go fuck themselves on those.
