After School Beatdown (SSFIV 2 vs 2 Team Tourny 10-30-10)

Okay for those of you who live north of vancouver and south of seattle

a1 v b1 a1w
a2 v b2 b2w
a1 v b2 a1w team a advances

a1 v b1 b1w
a2 v b2 b2w team b advances

a1 v b1 b1w
a2 v b2 a2w
a2 v b1 a2w team a advances

all these games should be set for each player so

a1 v b1 (game 1 2/3 rounds 1 game)
a2 v b2 (game 2 2/3 rounds 1 game)
a1 v b2 (game 3 2/3 rounds 1 game)

this would be 1 set or the normal 2/3

the way i believe it is that the only that can be changed is your order for game 1 and 2

and yes i wrote in caps so you can understand what i’m saying angel

Weird my caps didn’t show up, wack.

Mackinzie…Grand Finals…3…out…of…5…

I understand how the 2 out of 3 sets work.

Wedge sounds right but we need to make sure.

Its an SRK thing…

To be lazy and edit Mackinzie’s post, a 2 of 3 match in 2v2 teams works like this.

a1 v b1 a1w
a2 v b2 b2w
a1 v b2 a1w team a 1 point

a1 v b1 b1w
a2 v b2 b2w team b 1 point

a1 v b1 b1w
a2 v b2 a2w
a2 v b1 a2w team a 1 point

Team A Wins

If you want to do that as best of 5, just expand as needed. Now you may just want to do single sets for the tourney, and then 2 of 3 GF, or something, I dunno how to actually this stuff is normally done in tournaments, I’m just saying this is how you score best of 3 or 5 or any sets in teams.

^This makes sense. We would just do single sets until grand finals which would be 2 out of 3 then. Otherwise this tourny would take forever. Thanks Wedge.

Im in need of a teammate…

10 dolla a person for single set matches is pretty high imo…thats 10 McChickens

Do 5 dollar per person, and pot goes 100% to winning team? Doing a tiered pot would be weird for a team setup since they’re going to be to be splitting those winnings too. You generally have lower fees/total pot in a team tourney I think.

Yeah…no. It it was a dollar entry, that would make sense, but once pots go into the 100+ range and its teams, 100% to winner gets a bit ridiculous IMO

Be sure to turn into next episode when simple and great ideas get more difficult for NO REASON AT ALL in " Focus Attack Portland "…

Because I like to derail EVERYTHING http://shoryuken.com/f22/pdx-tournaments-thread-next-tournament-tilt-9-25-1pm-250216/ move chat to there.

Simon kind of has a good point with the number of games you get to play, of course I trust in whoever Im playing with and my own skill to not worry about it, too much. But playing 2 out of 3 team tournament shouldn’t be too bad, but it might take much longer, if a1, wins and a2 loses, then a1 and b2s match will be two out of three as well. Because if that happens your adding about 1 extra person to the bracket everytime. If it happens every game you’d be doubling the bracket…(my math may be off) so I guess thats just something to consider if time is an issue. 3 out 5 would take a longggggg time.

Time isn’t an issue if you guys really wanna do 2 out of 3 sets. But ths could potentially take twice as long. Less entry fee or more sets? Post up.

I’ll try to break it down.

Team 1 – Ross/Sam Y
Team 2 – Jetay/Sam B

Ross vs Jetay 1 game (2/3 rounds) Ross Wins
Ross vs Sam B 1 game (2/3 rounds) Sam B Wins
Sam Y vs Sam B 1 game (2/3 rounds) Sam Y Wins.

Ross/Sam Y’s team takes the first point in the 2/3 team set.

Rinse.

Repeat.

Make more sense?

any further questions should be refered to the above post… its not that hard. keep the fees the same and just go with it.

Only thing i would suggest is NOT to due character locks. Blind select takes care of all worries counter picking. and lets be honest with

ourselves here PDX, only a handfull of us can play multiple characters above a decent level.

anyone really down for the bomberman…If we can get another couple controllers I can make this happen im sure.

game?

Character lock is standard for team tourneys since you can’t have two people play the same character on a team, its just the way it goes, and it makes sense at least to me. I think everyone understands the format, I just think are people sure they want to do 2 out of 3, thats going to take some extra time as I said. I don’t think we need to change the entry fee no matter what.

Well when I said 2/3 I mean that its 2/3 sets…not 2/3 games in each 1v1 of each 2v2 team for a 2/3 format…
