AEMAKOTO Guide and Q&A: Ask all your questions here!

I would play Makoto in a heartbeat. I recently bought 3s for my new PS3, and Mak frustrates me. Her 3s karakusa is sooooo slooooow. I don’t know when i can punch already. Lol.

Anyways, yeah, I agree the Tsurugi combo would be better overall, but what changed from AE to 2012 that made the juggle impossible now? Did they change her u1 hitbox, or did her buffed dash have something to do with it?

oh HELL yeah. that’s what i’m waiting for! Imagine where a game where Makoto has to worry about only 10% of the jumping! These tekken ass mofos better watch out!

And no lame ass zoners

It’s actually a 2 frame punish. You can attack immediately on frame 1 of recovery, so something that’s -X can be punished by a move with X start-up (permitting spacing allows it, of course).

that cross over was a bad idea…

so it IS possible. I like that A LOT.

Midscreen:
f+throw > crossup U2.
Works vs LOT of characters. Sometimes, they need to be crouching.

Ahh…err, wow. Gotta hit the training mode for this when I get home.

You mean to jump crossover MK, then do it? If that’s the case does this work:

Blocked junp in, blocked MK Tsurugi, (perfect range for XU jMK), XU U2

? On my way home but if someone can test…

Think it is if they hold downback after throw, just do forward throw then U2. Thought i would save someone having to type it up

Works:
Ryu
Ken
Cammy
Guile
Ibuki
Makoto
Gen
Dan
Sakura
Guy
DeeJay
Bison
Viper
Dhalsim
Chun
Juri
E.Ryu
Blanka
Rufus
Fuerte
Vega
Adon
Rose

Doesnt work:
Gief
T.Hawk
Honda
Dudley
Seth
Gouken
Akuma
Oni
Yang
Hakan
Cody
Sagat
Abel
Yun
Barlog
Fei Long

Interesting note, the only character from starting positions that Mak cant catch with dash grab is Deejay.

At 50s Vryu does a cross-up Tsurugi. What reversals can beat this?

For Ibuki? Lol nothing. Sorry you’re gonna gave to FA dash that to get out. I know is dangerous and you best believe that someone like VRYU is ready and waiting for that with fukikusa or dash back throw to start over or some other OS depending on how he is feeling (why hasnt capcom nerfed vryu yet??? Lol) but… Well you see what happened if you don’t…

Got it. So now we just need to find a way to make them crouch block after the throw. Also, combined with the XU U2 setup from XU JMK we should have XU setups on the whole cast… Nice. To the lab!

Lol, No, I meant what reversals would beat cross-up Tsurugi on wake-up? Would most shoryukens whiff? It looks like spinning bird kick might beat it. I want to know who I need to be wary of doing it against (like Bison).

Also, sometimes I see Vryu use f.lk instead of f.mp in the middle of a pressure string. They both have the same start-up and f.mp leaves you at neutral compared to -4 for f.lk. Is there any reason to use one over the other or did he just mess up a karakarakusa?

I guess it will work until people learn to block standing? Seems far more likely to hit Guile and DeeJay I think, reflexive downbacking.

I’ve been a long time shoto and want to pick up makoto, because she’s so much fun, even when my face is being smeared across the ground.

I cant find any decent pokes or hit confirms with her by myself. do things tend to start from sLP, cLP?
I’ve seen ppl do 2x sMP and follow that with Hayate

is there a basic BNB combo that can start from something light?
best I could find was 3x LP > dash punch etc

and is moving all about focus dashing through things with her? it’s so hard to cross the screen with this bitch

c.lp, s.lp, s.mp xx mp.hayate/ex.oroshi/ex.hayate (if they block it is an opening for c.lp, s.lp s.lk karakusa setup)
c.lp, c.lp, c.lk xx exhayate
s.mp, s.mp xx mp.hayate/ex.oroshi/ex.hayate

moving is a combo of command normals (f.mp being the best, s.lk being riskier, f.mk being dangerous) and walk + occasional dash + Instant Air tsurugi

pokes: s.mp, c.lk, s.mp, c.mp, s.mp, s.hk, s.mk, s.mp, s.mp.
S.mp, c.mp, c.lk s.mk can be hayate buffered.
