Are you foward dashing before inputing the motion ?

yea

I swear I remember seeing a tutorial video where HP oroshi beats ryu’s shoryuken on wake-up. Can someone please re post or send me the link

It’s a page back, Mcgowan.

Let me clarify on Fukikusa, since it’s such a common question. It’s an OS where you dash a little before an opponent is waking up or after a Hayate, and you input 63214+HP+HK. You input the 63214 near the end of dash so you’re done just as Makoto recovers. Fukikusa only works if you have crossed up an opponent by going under them and haven’t inputted the 214 section of Fukikusa by that point.

Ah ok, thanks for clearing it up.

Yeah, the st.mp after hayate cancel is pretty tricky. Still practicing it in training.

Though I gotta admit, karakusa, st.mp, hayate cancel, karakusa works quite well on people. They don’t seem to expect it. Not a game changer or anything, but a little extra stun/damage is always welcome.

That’s a 1 frame link. Plink the s.MP. It will make doing it so much easier.

Heh thx for the help robo. Now I just need to find those characters online  seriously it’s just abels and seths online lol. Question for the cross-up tsurugi on Abel. I got it after practicing the hc>mk set up but if I left my stick at neutral or walked forward she would miss. I’ve also been having trouble with the mk height. Is it a straight jump or forward?

Question on the backthrow->tsurugi cross-up:

Lately, I’ve been getting hit out of the air by shotos who are using c.HP. Assuming I’ve done the set-up correctly, is my Tsurugi supposed to win? My execution is still off with this tech, so I’ve been unable to find an answer on my own in training mode.

I apologize Robo but…its a page back…on this forum? I didnt see it and I remember this as something I saw months ago. I checked vryu youtube page and didnt see it, and it wasnt in the match up thread.

I havent tested it but (theory fighter) I think 2HP will always win, only because when I was practicing the cross ups, I noticed that the opponent can just crouch block and the tsurgi will wiff. Soooo crouch and attack should win. Maybe if MK tsurgi was switched to HK

Also looks like PC will get 2012 later then XBL and PSN so I’ll get to compare my whippings side by side!

No, cHP will not come out if you time tsurugi right. Some characters can crouch, while for some it doesnt’ matter. It just really depends on the timing. this shit is getting really difficult the more characters i try it on. Think its time for me to hit that gym…

Thx Mossad. It’s practically the only set-up I’m using right now because I want to nail the execution but I still get knocked out of the air more often than I like. Guess I need to spend more time in the lab.

EDIT: Is Backthrow-> HC, MK, MK Tsurugi the only set-up for the twins?

Hahhahahaha
Setup safe jump LP -> mk tsurugi crossup (if crouch guard).
Seems to work on lot of chars (shoto, makoto…)

If I’m reading this right, this crosses up on crouching opponents? If so, that would be so sick.

yes (ask zakbg xD)

That’s dirty. I’m lovin’ it. It’s not IA, right? I’m assuming the Tsurugi has to be done a bit higher?

Yep , higher … where it hurts lol

I don’t know if this was already known, but I’ve been using backthrow -> wait a few frames -> whiff s.lk -> nj.mk as a safejump against Oni. It seems to work like the distance-based safejump started off of EX Oroshi, whiff s.HK, etc… But I could be wrong.

It doesnt seem to work on any other shoto with a 3f dp though, sadly. Also, the waiting a few frames makes the setup a turnoff. Of course, there are much better options off of backthrow these days too… I guess it can be used for mixup?

OAR where are you with your magical list of amazing setups? I need stolen technology… :frowning:

I’ve been trying to practice blockusa and hitkusa (I think that’s what I saw them be called; far s.lk xx hk karakusa). Are you actually supposed to special cancel the s.lk, or are you using the s.lk for a tick throw?

On block I think its a tick throw. At least that would be my description of it. Because i find it works if you complete the motion and press kick just as her leg is returning from the short. Actually she isn’t finished short animation but i assume that she will be when I’m pressing round house (in slow so i always try to press things earlier to compensate)
Plus you cannot perform the blockakusa with the same motion speed that you use for kara kara. Because of that i say tick throw…of course…I could be wrong

Btw I can perform the blockakusa 90% of the time from three different set ups so I’m pretty sure I’m describing it right. At least for my personal timing
