AE v3 (2013?) Dudley buff request/discussion thread

if i hit a cross counter and i die from the damage but the damage i would have done would kill the enemy. I’d like a double K.O. That’d be pretty sweet

Sometimes I think I just want to be knocked up into the next tier of forward walk speed and that’d solve all my grievances with Dudley.

Doesn’t Dudley have the second fastest walk speed available? I don’t think that would help him with anything that’s bothering his match ups since I haven’t seen anyone say that Dudley can’t get from one side of the screen to the other fast enough. It might make him feel more “comfortable” as a character but I don’t think it would be significant in improving him as a character.

He’s 3rd tier and it’s just my personal thing. I can see myself getting higher mileage out of my normals for sure.

Yeah cliff i seen some footage hes looking godlike and for some reason ssb is good in that game lol.i also heard he cant combo his overhead

he’s +5 on overhead, +7 on s.mp/c.mp, MGB (all of them apparently) are 0 on block, m.ju is strike invincible, h.ju is 3f.
s.hp and c.mk have CLEAN hitboxes but a lot of recovery and reach a lot farther (amazing vs dhalsim and rolento and for whiff punishing)
ducking is back to the way it was in 3s but no character has anything CLOSE to AE guile recovery on fireballs (omg dud RAPES guile free. 7-3 easily)
j.rh always creates a ground bounce so dud doesn’t have to worry much about scouting for counter hits. A2A j.rh is hella fast too and only really loses to while rising jumping attacks (as far as i’ve seen)

only bad thing about dud imo is the range on his close normals. they’re smaller than they are in AE some stuff that’s unsafe on block can’t be punished as easily by him. also SSB kinda sucks now cause most DPs move far horizontally and roll is still an option.

SFxT dud has more going for him in terms of creating offense and keeping it rather than hoping your opponent fucks up or putting all your eggs in the s.rh buffer basket. his footsie game is rewarding because even though in most cases he’s still outmatched, it’s not as dominant over him as it is in AE and being smart pays off in dividends.

Only thing about mgb is that they can alpha counter it. But if they don’t have the meter, HP mgb tag cancel into sick mixup.

hey guys, so Capcom officially announced AE v2013 @ PAX East 2013 in the capcom panel. They’re want players to recommend balance changes all characters (10 characters per week). So far Dudley is in week #1 starting today, they’re taking suggestions from us. I see some great suggestions in this thread so hopefully we can incorporate some of the changes on here to the official Capcom Unity website (cause we all know Dudley needs buffs!). I’ll link the vid where Combofiend talks about v2013 and also the forms where our voices get heard about Dud. Thanks

Did anyone else look at what people were suggesting and then seriously re-examine their choices in life? I just saw someone suggest armour on EX MGB.

Dudley does not need armored machine gun blows, that would be silly.
He lack a good reversal and a solid armor breaker.

I think two good changes would be:

  1. Have the individual hit boxes of machine gun blow spawn dive-kicking Wolverines. This way they would be 2 in 1s and break armor more reliably.
  2. Make Thunderbolt a motion command, -2 on block, and give mid-air control equivalent to Rainbow Balls.

Armor is not a problem, nor a solution, learn to mechanics.
Dudley has great defense by this game’s standards.

Just give me bigger, more brain-dead, hit boxes and arbitrary frame data improvement.

Please someone put together a nice presentation of changes for Dudley. The people on the forums are saying the stupidest things! I would do it myself but I feel like I wouldn’t do it right.
All I want are the extended hit boxes and ssb to armor break. Faster walk speed would be nice but I don’t think its really needed. here is the link to the Capcom unity forum:
