Atleast you don’t main Cody and sub Dee Jay…
I could play Ken and sub Guile, but no, I had to pick characters Capcom don’t give a f*ck.
I think we gotta just accept what we got and make it work… By switching characters. Deejay as a sub can work against certain matchups but against some others… Nah.
Let’s look at the positives though.
Safe sobat, Knee shot against Sagat will be able to convert into real damage, exMGU might not beat lows, but you’ll be able to use it as a way to beat throws + dash ultra will be even more free to hit. … And we got 10 extra damage on his cr.mk ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I hope they didn’t take away the U1 buff… That would’ve been a waste of time to take out smh
You never know the exact details when you read translated Japanese notes.
Ex.MCB only gets stuffed for me when a shoto uses cr.mp on wakeup, in other situations I am just accustomed to blocking.
Sometimes l wonder why the roster is as large as it currently is. The running theme of Ultra was “balance” and we have seen some from nerfs to other characters but some of the holes in our character has been overlooked. lt would only take someone one tournament with Dee Jay to really see how much we are lacking in many many different areas.
Even if you aren’t able to go to tournaments on the regular it is still very obvious that Dee Jay has basic problems. Situational anti airs, bad combo scaling, an unreliable and often gimmicky knee shot that good players WlLL react to and punish, bad throw range even with kara throw, no wake up and the one that l personally can’t stand is no pressure owing to really crappy normals.
l’m going to NCR this year and hopefully l’ll be able to speak with Combofiend about Dee Jay. Last year he said something along the lines of “we want every character to have a chance”. l just hope we get that chance.
l don’t even care if it looks like all the Dee Jay players are crying about our changes being bad; we know what would give us a chance and like many other people here have said, Capcom doesn’t know our character as well as we do.
I’ve been drinking thinking. With the hitbox buff and start up buff on exMGU, could you possibly punish an attack like Akuma’s sweep with exMGU into ultra?
Please talk to Combo for us at NCR. Tell him…by taking out some of his invincibility on EX MG(2 frames?!)…do they realize that they actually made EX MG more hittable from his opponents? People will be able to stuff it on the ground more than they actually are able to now? And trading is not an option. We wanted that move better 2 iterations ago…not worse.
Thanks Revive in advance.
that would be pretty sweet. it’s gonna depend on the hitbox.
The pushback on Akuma’s sweep is pretty big, so it may have to be a point blank one.
More notes on who GamerBee feels is top tier in USF4:
All of Deejay’s buffs are useful. Now he got better defense and jump-in, and I saw people doing EX 28P (EX Machine Gun Upper) - UC2 very easily. I think he is top tier.

Good day Dee Jay players i’ve recently decided to pick up Dee Jay ,even with the near release of ultra where Rose my main got noticeable buffs (Well one buff is somewhat a nerf,ex spiral having no throw invisibility 0.o) I do believe given new game mechanics she’s gonna go up the tier a little . After being salty about the ex drill buff/nerf i went on a search for a character who can do everything (rush down, zone ,frame trap etc) Like Rose, Dee Jay is a jack of trades but i believe he’s better. He has ways to get in ,annoying ,good pressure ,safe jumps off a lot,a mini vortex,a kara throw (very short) good fireball ,zoning,ANTI AIRS (Don’t jump) . I view Dee Jay as a solid character . My problems thus ar are his special and normals don’t have good priority and he lacks a get off me move. With him you have to really be patience and learn to block. (Low beat all up up kicks )
Now seeing new changes i think you guys should be a little happier ,ex machine gun is now 6 frames start up (i see this as a viable wake up/get off me move) and its now focus cancel-able. Think thats a good buff but its -8 on block ,i guess reason they made it fadc-able (Coming from Rose this won’t be anything new to me ,3 meters to fend off pressure) imagine doing a get of me ex machine gun to a dash ultra XD sweet.
I agree that some of the buff are not needed or called for " knee shot?
All in all he’s a solid character ,i may have not been playing him long enough but from vids i’ve watched i can say he’s good. Believe he’s underrated and under played. Until someone comes out dishing out the BEAT Dee Jay will remain in the shadow. See the dudley community now? A player stepped up and boom oooooooohhhhh Dudley this Dudley that. Smug is representing .
Reading all your comments and can see the disappointment but from the looks of it he’ll be better. Look on the bright side he’s better in ultra than this version
Lmao at all the people who barely play/don’t play Dee Jay at all who are telling us, people who have been playing Dee Jay for a long time, that Dee Jay is good, and we just aren’t trying hard enough.
LMAO at your translation but take it how you please. I’m for sure ain’t saying that. But given we on the topic i remember a while back i visited the Sagat forum and all you would read are cries about the character . In my opinion Sagat is a good character top 10 maybe . A well calculated Sagat playing beyond the match up will always do well. If im to say you guys ain’t trying hard enough then i should say the same for us Rose players.
Hitcher i take it you believe Dee Jay is shit bottom of the food chain?
It all starts in your mind ,if you believe he is shit tier then your mind won’t allow you to play beyond what you see or believe.
I don’t think Dee Jay is so bad that he cannot be played competitively, it’s the fact that you have to work so hard and make so many reads to get damage, and then when you get knocked down, you have no reliable way to get out of pressure, and the fact that the keep away game is not that strong, since our AA normals are at best mediocre. In addition, don’t forget that our normals used for footsies are pretty whack too.
So while Dudley has a poor wake up game, he sure as hell has huge mix ups and damage/stun.
Sagat on the other hand is MADE to keep away, and he does it very well, but can still apply pressure when he wants.
Unfortunately for us Dee Jays, we have no strong points, and are around below average in every department in the game.
If you think that all Dee Jay players have some sort of mental block that is keeping Dee Jay from being top tier, go play footsies with Bison, try to rush down Guile, try to keep away Yun. And when you finally get that elusive knockdown or combo, look at the minimal amount of damage you’ve done and cry inside. For this is the life of a Dee Jay player.
I very much understand,i clearly see all you points.
Footsies with Bison ,rush down Guile ,learned it the hard way)
DJ is bottom tier.
All these ppl coming from the woodwork. I’m glad we started the secret chat. Vultures man.
make ex mgu beat at least mids. i want one get off me move. shit even give him a new move if they don’t want reversal into ultra, but Rog has ex headbutt into ultra. . .so what’s the big deal?
ex headbutt can be low profiled.
if it’s low profile like sim/blanka slide, then i attribute it to those moves being extremely low.
If it’s shoto cr. mk then hold that.
in most scenarios tho, with a half decent read it will work where you want it to.
those slides might be able to get beat with ex straight depending on the timing of the slide.
Man don’t shit on these people who say Dee Jay’s good. Trick them into learning the character so they become as jaded as we are.
