it’s possible for Yang to attempt a safe jump/empty jump across you follow by OS into U2/ex rolling kick to beat your ex rainbow
:(… found that out today the hard way… then realize i should start using ex upball more because it’s not exactly easy to safe jump blanka… then beat him back… when he attempted the same set up again.
It’s advantage Blanka IMO, but not by a huge amount. One of the biggest issues is that you have to play perfect and make a lot of right decisions, far more than gief. Those decisions are weighted in your favor though.
Yeah the Gief matchup is tougher in AE, but it’s still slightly in Blanka’s favor.
The protector of russian skies can be a bitch but I think one just needs to get used to it, and then make sure to punish it with hop > U1.
I actually find Gief’s U1 a bigger threat.
I have to say I agree with Ves. I feel the hitbox capabilities of the beginning of an active elec are generally better than the continuation. Even though I have no evidence, I would even argue that the continuation hitbox is somehow smaller than the beginning hitbox of elec.
There are deffinately wierd subtle differences between the beginning of an elec, and when u keep mashing buttons to continue the elec. Wierd game.
And after a jab xx elec HP blocked, for example, if i do a crouch MK, this is a true blockstring or it also depends on the distance where the elec is blocked ?
I kinda feel it’s close to this as well maybe blanka have the tiniest advantage still because it’s not easy for gief to take initiative without risking to get hurt… It’s however a bit easier for you… I just hope ultra david doesn’t come in this room because he’ll claim his cornered zangief is invincible against blanka…
On the otherhand the extended range of his spd is really a pain in the ass to deal with… Gief should definitely use u2 in this matchup and u2 is also a bitch to deal with … It nearly ensures that if he’s got u2 getting out of the corner is now from pretty tough to very tough… Playing footsie when you’re in the corner against gief with u2 and extended spd makes me kinda wanna cry I have to be ultra patient and observant to get out of this mess
ultra david was actually correct. If Blanka can’t take a chipped ex greenhand and gief has roughly half life, blanka can’t win really. I knew I lost that round once he hunkered down.
Giefs normals have not changed from super to AE, least as far as i know.
His specials keep getting tweaked.
Blanka doesnt need upball to anti air gief, he has a million other options.
Its a 5-5, largely depending on whether or not gief gets lucky jump ins, and who knows the footsie game better. If gief gets a large life lead, I’d say its over for blanka, but vice versa, if blanka gets the large life lead, and knows how to footsie and stay away, gief has to take more obvious risks to get in, which are easily punished.
I was testing blanka jump mp against gief. As others have said, I’m kinda shocked that it beats the begeezus outta the lariat.
Don’t know about you, but I had spacing down for j.mp lariet-stuff back in super… almost, although now in AE it seems a bit wonky. Hitbox on lariet change at all…?
Practiced the j mp in training mode the other day. Aim for the top of his head if he’s standing. Aim a foot directly above his head if he’s crouching. Don’t drop the combo!!! Also standing HP and HK beat lariat clean.
