AE Matchup Discussion: Dee Jay, Dhalsim, Dudley, El Fuerte, E. Honda

The problem with st.hp is that it is much slower than cr.lp, and at the right range will still lose to cr.lp. All it takes is for honda to shimmy back for 2 frames or whatever and hit cr.jab.

You have to hit st.hp/cr.hp to win but you’re not favored in the damage race or with hitboxes.

Like I wrote above… s.HP/c.HP is only second choice when it comes to beating c.LP…

s.MP is the ideal move

st.mp shoulda been slashed in there. the problem is still that you have to walk into st.mp range, which opens you up to st.hk, and cr.lp xx hands still does way more damage than st.mp does. You have to hit honda 2-2.5x as much to win the footsie battle and it’s just not practical.

you have to work way harder for positioning and he’s just hitting cr.lp/st.hk

s.MP range > honda’s c.LP…
first of all… so you should be hitting him out of it pretty much most of the time… if you’re using it right… not that it makes too much difference… but… on far range… hands shouldn’t fully connect… it will still hit… but by far much less damage… i forgot to test if Honda can still link his s.HK in the end which i guess will make a lot of difference… but for discussion sake… lets just assume Honda can connect fully (expect the worst)

if he’s gonna start using s.HK as well… then that’s why the other options are there…

as for why i didn’t put on the list…
maybe i should make it even more clear…

basically if you look at it… i put 4 different ‘tiers’ of moves to use against Honda’s c.LP… s.MP is at the top… others are below…

heck… technically if you are even expecting s.HK coming out… you can even jump in on Honda…

which is something I’ve been doing against other characters who wanna play footsie with slow moves with big range… even if i can’t get it to connect i’ll be inside with major frame advantage from j.HK… and i can use that to do electricity or tick throws/other mixups.

i cant win against deejay. just came out of 15:1 ass whopping.

So please enlighten me what i need to do to beat this character. i have no clue at all. i didn’t jump because his upkicks will get me. his upkicks also beat my ex-upballs. i was helpless and i felt the other guy laughing his ass off, because he could do what ever he wanted :frowning:

You can jump at deejay, just wait for him to break his charge. Slide fireballs, meaty short/electricity and all your buttons beat all of his. If he’s upkicking your ex upballs you are being so predictable that it’s ridculous.

match is same in ultra except it’s even easier to footsie with sweep and cr.mk now and lk sobat is harder to punish, and deejay can never punish combos on hit.

This match is like Blanka 101, and you get a mixup on every hard knocdown.

as for the upball… i only did them twice after hop. yet he beat them. i tried to be cautious. i guess my knowledge against deejay is so low and he knew it. so he turned this match into 9:1 in his favor :wink:

it was frustrating as hell. i guess i will add him and get my ass whooped more to be better in this match up.

Electricity beats upkicks as does cr.short, why take the risk?

Hell mashed EX Elec beats backdash and focus backdash.
