AE Makoto to 3S Makoto support thread

you have to superjump cancel in 3s, and just regular jump cancel in AE. so that explains the input discrepancy.

You cancel the hit, much like canceling a normal with a special.

Can’t kara st.hk for the life of me. Is there some kind of trick I’m missing?

edit: Wait, I think I got it. She’s supposed to move backwards, right?

If anyone else if having trouble with it, what I did was I do the motion then return the stick to neutral and hit hk + whatever punch button almost like I’m plinking them.

Exactly. If you move forward, you Kara’d with f+HK accidentally.

Ever since 3SOE released, youtube has been cluttered with Third Strike gameplay. Who are the top players you follow in regards to 3S Makoto? The ones I know are Boss, J, and Mimora.

J is the best man … no contest … i personally think its impossible to double perfect kokujin in this game man … seriously

J is to Makoto as Fujiwara is to Dudley and Namijin is to Ryu: all three of them are legendary with their characters.

But I’d say Boss is definitely the best now, while Mimora is at a not-too-far second.

P.S.- To be fair though, Kokujin didn’t start getting REALLY good at 3S until 2005-2006. That’s a pretty old video.

Man, I haven’t seen Ino play since 2008, but I’ll agree that he’s a beast too. I hate Shiro Itachi so I didn’t bring him up out of pure bias against him. haha

You know s.HP xx SA2 only works on your side of the screen, right?

Oh, Lost Fragment, I’d just like to thank you a thousand fold for that 23623+K Super short-cut. Aiming for 3+K as the end-point is so much more consistent, that I went from 70% to 90% consistent. Thank you.

I found that out after playing that match, yes. Thankfully for me that Q didn’t know how to block anything.

Momichi is a beast with EVERY character. I remember, he was actually the inspiration for me to pick up Makoto.

A good way Ive seen and I use ex oroshi is cr. lk the ex Oroshi. its a blazing fast overhead

It doesn’t combo. It’s just a way to play low and high at the same time, in the hopes of forcing a high-blocker to block low immediately.

Just don’t do like I did today and start losing AE matches you should’ve won because you’re trying to use 3S shortcuts for your ultra. For that reason, I’m trying to get st.hp xx sa2 down without using that shortcut.

I’ve been thinking of switching to SA1. I keep chasing people to their side of the screen, far away from the s.HP xx SA2 range; very rarely do the stars align and SA2 is applicable in the situation, unless I stun the opponent, or cross them up and land Karakusa.

Does that sound logical? I’m trying to look at it as more meter vs. SA1 capabilities.

SA1 is really good because it makes her meaties and pokes that much scarier. Her gameplan doesn’t really change that much from playing SA2(go on the offense with her crazy fast mixups), but if you’re really set on wanting to use that Super, then some meter management will come into play.

I wouldn’t drop SA2 entirely because its damage and stun potential is so good it’s worth using, but SA1 can really help her out against certain matchups(Chun being the best example).

My sentiments too. Even if you don’t land the ultra, you can spend the meter on various EX moves. Wish I could land it with more consistency, but I have a hard time executing ultras on 1p side :sad:.
