i forgot 34 already made a character matchup thread here.
but he stopped updating probably because it wasn’t worth his time since this board is dead and no one plays dudley. not to mention that his tutorials cover pretty much most of dudley’s options so it’s not hard to figure out how to play the against certain characters if you just hit the training mode and spend some time there. so to him it would be kind of like spoon feeding people (beginners) and encouraging them to play a “fixed playstyle” which he doesn’t want because they won’t get much better if they don’t explore. i don’t know that’s just my guess.

so yeah cliffside if you’re really up for it then you might as well make one (but i still don’t recommend it because again board is dead etc / won’t be worth your time).
you could pick this kind of matchup format and reserve posts to make it organized.
see now. it’s not just gonna be my thing. i’ll take the initiative to start the thread but i’m hoping we can all work together to get some solid information in there. trust me it’s worth the effort because i’ll also be using this information too. plus keeping it updated will encourage more people to talk about match ups and stuff. unlike this dead thread.

I don’t think there’s been a single instance of a successful up-to-date matchup thread in these forums. Just some that have some discussion here and there with a first post full of stuff like THIS GUY HAS A HARD TIME UP CLOSE SO USE YOUR JAB. I honestly don’t think they work in the form people always try to make them in.
that’s because there is only 1-2 people doing it. 1-2 people aren’t going to finish it because they’re not able to, or just don’t know. I’m always down to help, but reason I don’t help is cuz i hate doing alone work.“this guy has a hard time up close so use your jab” - Theoryfighter, and not training moder / knowledgeable tester.

the whole point of a community is for people to work together on this stuff in the first place. it’s never supposed to be 1 person doing everything and that’s what east was trying to do with the rose garden but everyone was either talking shit or waiting for him to research all on his own without helping him. i can help you with the punishes. and i can help with pretty much w.e.
I have always wondered very few character boards have a separate thread for each matchup. Sure that would mean 35 threads, maybe all of them stickied, which could be annoying until people get used to it. Personally I find it much more annoying to go into a matchup thread with a question that I am positive has been asked many times before and be referred to a previous response in that thread from 3 months ago or whatever. Not annoying because I am entitled to know RIGHT NAOW, but more because it means less of a continuity of ideas about matchups. Like I may be a completely average Dudley player (and I am) but I have access to some character specialists that other players may not (and vice versa), so in that light almost any continuation of info and swapping of knowledge is helpful IMO.
It is nice to have discussions, but when all matchups are in the same thread without necessarily being religiously updated by topic creator it kind of devolves into these 1-2 page bursts of great conversation about specific matchups that get buried by new posts within 2-3 days. So sure, there is a wealth of information but only if you can sift through many many many posts.
May seem like clutter, but with a wiki or separate character threads you can also see how matchups evolve with new tech and new approaches; which is really great for someone new to a character who may have trouble jumping directly from step 2 to step 35 in learning a matchup.
We actually attempted separate character threads in this forum and it went over the same as one large thread. People were active on it for the first few weeks and then they slowly dropped off in activity.
You can have admins or whatever revert troll edits or blatantly bad information on most wikis I think.
the problem wasn’t really the threads. for the most part, as long as the topic creator stayed to keep the thread updated and moving, things were active. once the TCs left, people tried to keep talking but it wasn’t really for anything since the information wouldn’t be updated and would get lost in the midst of posts. every thread started was by people who don’t even play the character or the game anymore or simply didn’t care to keep doing it. i wanna do it (i am doing it) because i know i’ll be dedicated to keeping it as up to date as possible and for as long as possible.
