teleports/ EX PC/HK and EX Scissors/ it covers almost his whole moveset once you get ultra 1.
Talking about Scissors… is there a trick to determine if he did LK/MK/HK (of course the distance the move travels, but beside that)?
I can tell by looking at how fast he flipped.
Just a few Cody tips: on his wake up if you suspect either back dash or zonk use f.mk,ultra 2/jetupper option select, he will get hit if he does either of those.
On your wake up if he jumps in or walks up and is doing grab/ex zonk shenanigans (trying to bait you into crouch teching, then using ex zonk to hit) do lp. jet upper. If he grabs, the jet upper will hit him. If he ex zonks, the jet upper will whiff but still recover before he does so you can punish him with s.hk>blah after you land
I am convinced that Seth is Dudley’s worst matchup. I just played the #1 ranked Seth on AE PC like 20 times and his mix ups are too good for Dudley.
Mix up your wakeup.
Quick Rise
Delay Quick Rise
Normal Rise
and then
Block (use this a lot)
Backdash
FA Backdash
Reversal SSB (beats SPD)
Also, just so people know, whenever a Seth player hits you with lightning legs midscreen, they will almost always follow up with a boom into teleport into command grab setup. Near as I can tell from my massive amount of time playing against my local seth players, you can always neutral jump before the boom hits and land on him with the elbow for a combo.
Seth is definitely a winnable match up, but if you don’t know how to be patient and space safely around fp/booms/tandems then it can be rough.
A high level Seth will do the following.
Combo into Lightning legs
> LP sonic boom
(During the sonic boom confirm a tech or not)
If tech instant teleport back or inplace if he’s already full screen due to lightning legs)
if no tech teleport for a 50-50 unjumpable mixup
> block
(by now the boom hits you or you hit them if you EX DPd (can not duck) (can probably ultra)
If they go for an FADC sonic boom mix up you cant reversal those if you tech. you’ll get dp’d if you jump over the fireball, hit out of duck or duck into him, and your DP/Ultra will get hit by the sonic boom since seth isnt visable if you tech and reversa.
Also Seths that play my Dudley wall jump (if full screen and dive kick down for a safe way to close the distance (after LP sonic boom) if you dont tech they confirm and go for a safe jump with wall jump HK (not sure if it’s always a safe jump since sometimes I can hit him and sometiems i cant) probably stage position/timing dependent.
Not saying you dont play High Level seths btw.
Just saying Seth has true mix ups post Lightning legs tech or no tech (although the teched legs is usually just a feint)
Poongko’s been known to teleport behind people that tech and command grab before the sonic boom even connects. (lol cant backdash due to sonic boom behind you( well you can if you thnk taking the sonic boom knockdown is better than the command grab possibilty)
Seth vs Dud is 5-5
Pretty much don’t let seth get a** free jump in** on you, or your getting fucked up for the rest of the match. If seth jumps then anti air the shit outta him. You can out footsie him it’s just dudleys tend to struggle with seth once he gets the jump in on you, destroy his jump game and seth is destroyed. That’s how I go about things.
Why Don’t we have up to date info on match-ups. I swear the Dudley forums are garbage for info.
Tell that to the OP of this thread. lol apparently the Dudley forums doesn’t even have an up to date anything.
I was looking for tips on fighting Honda. With his headbutt he is able to keep me away and his HHS makes it difficult to stay close to him.
This forums has gotten to me, i can hardly find any good info on Dudley besides 34 tut. This is sad in my opinion, the only information I can honestly get so far with in the last month from this board is how bad Dudley is. I don’t care anymore how bad Dudley is, i would like some info so i can honestly advance my Dudley against people who can keep me out very well.
Every version of headbutt is punishable with reversal U1 and EX duck straight, though the latter is not all that recommended because the damage is low, the cost is high and it’s pretty tricky to pull off. Best to just hit him with a st.HP before he reaches you.
Cool… I usually use Ultra II, so I’ll hit up training and get the timing for st.HP
How would I update the first post when there’s no data about match ups coming in?
And it’s collectively everyone’s fault for being too lazy to point out GOOD info when is does appear so I can put it into the first post.
Ask for the info you seek, participate in a discussion about the match up. Are you really blaming people here when you don’t bother asking for help?
Saying “people who can keep me out very well” isn’t specific, what character/s are giving you trouble?
You mean to tell me… you don’t know anything info about any matchup?
Nope. I would’ve written a write up if I did.
I made this thread because I would be around to** manage** it, but there’s nothing to manage since there’s no info and no effort from anyone to produce any good information. Everyone either doesn’t know or doesn’t care to share, so it’s basically ask what you want to know and hopefully you get an answer on the match up or whatever you need info on.
And if any good info does show up, no one is pointing it out as good info (liking it or quoting it or anything to point out that this is great advice/info) so I’m assuming it’s all crap. Maybe I’ll put a note in the first that says point out the good advice and information and I’ll add it under the character for easy reference.
Sad to say, but this is pretty true. I used to do long write ups of match ups to the best of my understanding, but the character threads always went off topic because people would insult other people’s viewpoints rather than try to correct them. Not to say my knowledge of match ups are complete, far from it, but I noticed people would only write up very simple overviews (use this button, block more, etc) which would not really help people get a real sense for the subtleties involved. So I would try to write as detailed as I could, since it could maybe help others and others could maybe help me if they got a sense of the subtle aspects that I failed to grasp in my write ups. But once the Yun match up thread turned into the Fei match up thread via bickering, I realized that too many people here care more about condescending against other Dudleys rather than helping them.
I still do long write ups, but mostly its when I get asked privately for help.
Also when the forums deleted a bunch of the match up threads, it made it hard to care enough to rewrite some of them.
Anyway, keeping in line with this thread. Does anyone have good Rose info? I still tend to struggle with this match up more than most and Devastation is this weekend. I am hoping to not get caught with my pants down against a random Rose player. Specific punishes and option selects are what I am looking for most, but any overview info is welcome to me.
The only advice I can really give about Rose is that I have a lot of success counter-poking the slide with crouch short over everything else. Quicker startup than crouch forward and active for 4 frames. If they’re in good slide range I buffer jab mgb with crouch short. Whether this success is due to me playing bad Rose players or not I have no idea since I don’t pIay many of them and there aren’t many of them to being with. A bit of warning though I can’t possibly know anything about anything because 34 filtered me and his word is law.
