AE Dudley Match-up Thread: Keeping It Classy

I can beat everyone except Honda, Cammy, and E.Ryu. Advice

Honda-punish neutral jump fierce with rolling thunder or ex duck upper on reaction. punish ex headbutt on block. os their wakeup with crouching lk,mp,hp target combo to defend against butstomp.

Cammy-turn off xbox

E.Ryu- grab his crouching mk with dudleys crouching medium kick. max punish everything. I don’t know that much about e.ryu but i play him like any other shoto. bait/punish and be slightly conservative/defensive on their wakeup.

hello everyone! I have been working on an android app that will give you a place to keep your matchup notes. It is a passion project for me and it would be awesome to see it helping people. If you have a chance, please check it out! Thanks =)

Ive attached a little video to show you how it works.

Dudley vs Guile

Are there any matchups that changed significantely on Ultra? Which are the universally agreed bad, unwinnable ones? Dhalsim, Vega, Elena come to mind (I have been having problem with Hugo and Hawk, but that’s probably me). Based on this, which secondary character best complements Dudley?

As I see it, most bad matchups for Dudley are low / bottom tier characters, so I think he is well positioned in this version without being Yun (or more correctly, what the pros say Yun supposedly is) tier.

I have been probably playing against bad Cammys but I don’t see the despair about her. Which buttons are the dreaded ones? Decapre gives me more trouble since her specials look harder to punish.

All the bad matchups you described are only slightly disadvantaged, especially offline when you’re actually whiff punishing with a 4f st.hi instead of a 7-8f st.hk. get in the habit of using ex jet upper for godlike jumpins like Vegas j hp, divekicks, and juris jumpins

With Hugo just whiff punish with st.hp, can hit him half screen away with it. Cr hk beats his jumpins. Anti gief and hawk with ex duck upper, follow up into appropriate juggles. Whiff punish condor spires with st.hp

Dhalsim feels literally impossible. It is so frustrating.

It’s far from impossible, if you practice the whiff punish game at full screen it will unlock the matchup. Watch eriken vs dhalsim here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMNR0r9JVyA

It’s really only bad if you’re unfamiliar with it, especially if you’re unfamiliar with playing against high level dhalsim. I prefer double ultra or just ultra 1, dhalsim players wanna get cute and put fireballs on the screen so you can’t buffer anything against them. Just lame it out and build your ultra meter by focusing their fireballs. Ultra the shit out of any projectile they want to throw out after to keep them honest, once you condition them to be scared to put fireballs on the screen then you can focus on experimenting with your footsie tools

still insanely hard. But at least I’ve seen my options. any DJ advice?

Same thing, if you’re up against a fireball happy deejay/poison/guile/chun then be patient by focus backdashing all of their fireballs and punishing them once you get enough ultra meter since ducking under them won’t really be viable. Practice whiff punishing deejay’s normal. His sobat can be counterhit on reaction (with an element of prediction mixed in, this is not a raw reaction!) with st.hk, his slide is also insanely whiff punishable with st.hk too. Punish ex sobat with ultra 1. Deejay players like getting cute with their dive kick(ish) knee that’s hard to anti air. You can low profile it with cr.hk and score big damage, it’s also in your best interest to practice reaction ex jet upper for that as well

Furthermore, STOP PLAYING JUST TO WIN. Who cares about online points, I was sitting at 4k pp but dropped down to 3000 from experimenting. Play to learn and get matchup experience

I guess that is something I have to work on I have problems using st.hk for whiff punishing because it does not exactly have the range of st.hp or f+mp. I will try to lab up some more stuff. I have been trying to form a video of match ups to learn from if anyone wants to contribute that would be great as well this what I have so far.

Also Hakan wtF?! I don’t even know what this guy is even doing. I don’t even understand his moves. I would ask for match up advice if you have it as well.

Pressure him until he is unoiled. Once unoiled you can keep him that way by punishing him everything he tries to oil up. If he isn’t metered you can pretty much do anything you want on him on wakeup. His ex grab is the only thing you have to look out for.

Whiff punishing is key. To get IN you have to make him whiff a cr.mk or preferably cr.mp in the footsie game Vega loves so much.

Buffer s.HK into EX.MGB. You might get hit by one or two setups from vega, but it’s nothing compared to the train wreck damage you get from a s.HK whiff punish. On wakeup, vega is free. I start with one normal safe jump setup then OS the next wake-up if he’s a backdasher.

Any Ken or Fei Long advice?

So far with Fei Long I have been standing outside his high rekka range and whiff punishing it with st.hk and it’s been effective so far and I’ve been doing the same with Kens step kick.

But I’m not as seasoned as you guys so I was wondering if you have specific tips for those two match ups?

Ken and Fei Long will always be a thorn in my ass so any help is necessary! Its a shame my two best friends use em too.

These guys arent crap either… very talented players too!

Hi there , I’m a ~1000pp - ~5000bp Guile player on PC and I’m having a really hard time against any Dudley I meet up I really need to learn this matchup, if anyone is willing to do some endless sessions so I can learn it would be great, steam: plamatonto.

Err… this could be buried but please Rose? Is it me or is this MU impossible? She completely outclasses Dudley in pokes… shit feels impossible yo… anyway to lessen the pain? Any MU tips?
