You don’t go to Evo cause you make more than them? What does making a ton of money in one weekend have to do with how much you make? For playing a game you love and supposedly dominate. Poor excuse. You even make so much money you should be able to afford Vegas for a weekend. All those money matches you could dominate with your flip set ups that just need to be blocked.

Popcorn for what? I didn’t come here to argue stupid shit, I came to talk about Gouken and clearly that’s not getting accomplished cause these two don’t want to think. They just want to proclaim how amazing they are with gflip setups that have no real threat cause all you need to do is block. I’m not sure how you guys put up with this shit all day every day.
What threat is a flip when you are knocked down? Honestly? Think about it. None. Go through the options and what results you have.
Hard knock down -> options?
Safe dive flip kick or air throw
Air throw -> 150 damage or whatever into… nothing. You lose momentum to anyone with an auto correct reversal. You can’t safe jump and the cross up gets hit by anyone who knows how to autocorrect their reversals.
Blocked dive kick -> You now have to deal with standard pressure of a frame trap (Gouken has ok frame traps), throw (back throw shin sho, which is once a round), or wait a block string out that relieves the pressure.
Honestly, the best option is just to block if you can’t tell the difference between the throw or the safe dive kick (a good player can tell).
I’m sorry it’s just not that scary cause success does not lead to a repeat or loop of the pressure.
It’s not like Gouken is the only character in this game with canned safe jump set ups. This is not unique to him. Safe jump set ups do NOT make him good, everyone has them.
I originally though making his air parry unbreakable to reversals would help a lot, but then I realized after thinking it through that it wouldn’t help at ALL cause there is no real need to reversal when you can just deal with his shitty up close game after blocking a dive kick, taking a throw, or punishing an air parry.

I never once tried to question anyones SKILL or EVO Level or whatever with Gouken b/c it’s very few of us who even use the character… less alone very few of us who are good with him and can vortex properly.

Yes. Gouken’s have problem with keeping up pressure. As soon as one of his combo or throw land, his pressure pretty much ends. He need more safe jump timing options for sure, and I agree having faster recovery after a successful flip throw is a good addition. It is really a relatively small buff. The only reason Akuma got his forward throw nerfed was because of unblockable, not because of his safe jumps. Long as Gouken won’t get any unblockable off it, it will be a fine and fair buff.

Anyway, as I showed in the example above on Rufus and Blanka… but Gouken can access that window mid screen. The only one I can’t get it off of is after a successful GF Grab b/c there is just not enough time. Other than that you can virtually cross up anywhere on the screen, and still access the unblockable/ambig window.
I’m done telling and trying to show people how to use his vortex, these MF’s are letting there feelings get in the way of the game. Maybe I’ll just keep everything I got to myself and leach on everybody’s elses info… like most have done.

Ken… cr. lk, cr. lk, > whatever the hell he want’s as well as the rest of the cast.

AKUMA Does this to EVERYBODY… not just Gouken. He can’t wake up for free against Gouken either you know. Just saying. Maybe it’s Akuma that needs the nerf or it might not be too OP for Gouken to have a real srk type move to dis-encourage that.
It’s AKUMA… what can I say he’s one of the top characters on the game with the lowest health. He does that to everyone… if anything that support why Gouken shouldn’t have a free jump in. His wake up options would be worse than ours is right now… b/c you’d always have something to guess on. His SRK would be rendered useless… why not just nerf the armor on kongo and put it on his tatsu like the other shoto’s??? That would keep his palm the same against everybody else and we could kongo him for it. Case solved.
Some characters can reversal Akuma for doing that palm set up… epesically shoto’s… he just can’t flip in all willy nilly with Palm on them… he has to do that EARLY as shit.
All of this, b/c I agreed with what you said… but just feel like Air Focus and Kongo should break when people wake up… but it shouldn’t break when both people are standing if it doesn’t have the armor break property…

As far as actual Gouken talk goes, doesn’t air parry actually recover just as fast as Akuma’s palm on landing? I was always under the impression that the difference between the two is that air parry causes Gouken to pause in the air like Akuma’s air fireballs, which makes it really easy to just not press a button and cr.lk into a combo as he lands
