AE 2013 Gouken 'Request List

I hope someone mentioned standing fierce too and how it randomly goes from hitting high to hitting medium. And no I’m talking about close standing fierce the long one will hit med then all of a sudden pass over small characters heads for no reason.

I requested f.st.fierce to have an extended hitbox towards the floor for just that reason. I feel it should hit all characters crouching or not.

There was tons of feedback they have to go through, so hopefully we will see some changes.

Tatsu improvement, Kongo improvements (immune to non armor, and/or go back to 2 zones) and cr. mp > hado combo, seemed to be on almost everyone’s requests… So hopefully they will definitely tune those 3 along with the minor changes that made sense.

We still need some type of offensive reversal to truly deal with our bad match ups… Hopefully we get one.

I have to say after seeing some of the other characters japanese suggestions I wonder what the japanese gouken topic looked like. I hope combo succeeds in getting the location tests going, gonna be real interesting if they can go through a few builds :smiley:

I thought the fifth week was they accepted suggestions for all 36 characters?

anyhow… a big LOL for the excitement towards this update, only probably to find out that PC players will have to wait another 15 years for it to arrive on our platform.

I really hope LP Palm is improved, and TAtsu is fixed, and Denjin is made easier to speed up and that the speed boosts are saved when not released immediately.

make or break, Gouken is still unfinished, so I hope they fix him now and don’t break him more. Of course I’m glad for 3-frame SRK Super, jumping MP to Tatsu combo, 5-frame active standing HP, etc, though.

Yeah he needs some minor adjustments… but one adjustment in the wrong way and he’d be broken for sure. Most of his minor adjustments will make the character WAY more solid than now.

I think in every version of SF I had to use Gouken differently… especially vortex/rushdown wise and Defensively.

SF4- Overhead Dive Kick (possibly broken), Instant Recovery on GF Grab Whiff, and Back Throw to Ultra did STUPID damage, 2 zones to kongo

       -no hit confirms, cr. fp wasn't reliable, st. fp was bad, ex tatsu dropped and overlapped with kongo, GF Parry was SLOW  
       -NO OFFENSIVE REVERSAL or low strings

SF4- Got Denjin, cr. fp had a better hit box,
-NERF lost overhead dive kick, NERF lost GF Grab Whiff, Damage Nerfs (almost entire cast but still)
-NO OFFENSIVE REVERSAL or low strings

SFAE 2012- Denjin Speed Increases, st. mp + 7 on hit, st. fp 5 frames active, less recovery on GF Parry, cr. fp got more active frames I think, EX Tatsu locked, st. mp > hado, st. mp > mp palm, st. mp > ex palm, j. mp > air tatsu, dj hk knock down (I’d like to see this made as hard knock down but it’s not life or death), nj hp soft knock down, cl. st. mk 3 frames, cl. st. hk made better

        -NERF kongo to 3 zones, NERF scaling on Back throw Ultra (I was ok with this b/c it did too much damage), NERF > took away HP Palm.. (This really avoided A LOT of attacks and you could pass through fireballs full screen easily and hit with the tip of the hand)
        -NO OFFENSIVE REVERSAL or low strings

2 things we never recieved in any update, is a reliable offensive reversal and a low combo string… currently now once you hit some one low with Gouken you have to 2 in 1 or it’s the end of your combo unless it’s a counter hit.

TBH that has probably been my only struggle with Gouken since SF4, b/c sometimes I feel like I’m stuck in down back b/c I don’t have any reversals to get someone the hell off… or I have to rely on normals or properly guess kongo to beat incoming attacks… instead of SHORYUKEN!!! Having any type of offensive reversal makes people stop their pressure for a while if they know you can mash… when I was playing with Ken, opponents would always stop their block strings and do nothing b/c the feared the reversal and they couldn’t grab… with Gouken, most people will stop their string and grab and I can’t reversal them for it… that’s probably the most frustrating thing for me… even more frustrating than seeing kongo being broken by a mashed reversal b/c we have ways to deal with that).

Hopefully, I get my wish and not lose anything else that’s important to how I play or plan on playing.

I did see a lot of good suggestions though. Going back to 2 zone kongo not losing to NON-wake up non-armor reversals was probably my most fave aside from a 1-2 frame invincible tatsu that hit low and locks for lk and ex versions keep the start ups the same. Gouken doesn’t have anything to discourage grabbing him right now… he really needs that to round him out. That move is FAR too punishable and FAR to slow to not work any so many situations right now.

As you can tell I’m anxious to see the new Gouken…

And what is this supposed to mean??? That he ain’t getting an uppercut type move… lol… they bullshitting.

Please do something about Gouken’s uppercut. He’s a character that can definitely fight, but once he’s in a fight with one of the top tier dogs, it gets ugly really fast.

I’d also like Gouken to be able to combo from his footsies better, and, even more than that, I’d like it so that EX Tatsumaki Gorasen hits crouching opponents. I’d be really happy even if you only did that!

Fans have also said that they’d like Gouken’s Tatsumaki to be tweaked, as there are too many downsides and it’s hard to connect with some characters after a cancel. Gouken is supposed to be a unique character compared to his pupils Ryu and Ken, so we’ll take everyone’s ideas into consideration and tweak him carefully."

That’s a wrap. All hope is lost. I’ll still play him but, darn is that disheartening to hear.

Does anyone else have a problem with gouken’s overhead being f+mp? It’s ruined so many of my links. It would be nice if they remapped it to b+mp or something.

They should just give us the option of picking from the 3 iterations of Gouken thus far.

I think it sounds promising. “Tweaking CAREFULLY” is great, handle it with the utmost of care I say…

I regret my list and I wish I just requested :

easier control over Denjin
better range on LP Palm
fix Tatsu so it combos when it should, such as from anit-air or from a standing HEAVY PUNCH combo
ALL PALMS ALWAYS PRACTICALLY SAFE ON BLOCK… think about it, it would help his offense instead of having to just stay back and chuck fireballs

regardless of the changes, what needs to happen is an end to this “give something, take something” crap. He’s at the bottom of the tier list. I can’t think of any character that has more absolutely retarded matchups. He needs two steps up, and no steps back.

No, depending on the changes something would probably have to give. His damage output is too high for him to also excel in other areas. I would not be surprised if we saw something like a change to EX Palm combo scaling.

He has one matchup, MAYBE 2, where he’s favored. Meanwhile a third of the cast can treat him like a punching bag for half the round. It’s just sad.

Reducing the damage on his only punishing combo won’t do jack shit about the matchups where he doesn’t get a chance to punish in the first place. All that’ll do is make him worse on his 5/5 matchups.

Right, but what I’m saying is I don’t think we can expect them to do anything about his shortcomings and bad matchups while leaving his damage as high as it is.

it would be highly lame of Capcom to nerf Gouken.

I agree that some of our match-ups are retarded. nuff said, honestly…

If we could have a sliver of a chance against Blanka, Cammy and Adon, I would appreciate it. I don’t think any other character is truly abysmal for old man other than those three. Yun can be a little annoying because every GD move of his is a frame trap, throw, or too quick to kongo.

Blanka is the only character on my list with a win percentage below 50% :-/

man I gotta disagree. Frame traps are no frickin’ problem for me. I will always Kongo the bastards. **

however, when we have no game at long range and mid range, it gets retarded. Akuma can jump in on us for free with his air-fireballs (I suppose same goes for most other characters, except say Ryu with his EX SRK). He can beat our fireballs with his own (EX or the other one), he can control mid-range footsies with his 2-hit far standing HK that gets him closer and in position for the god damn JABS that combo to crouching MK to freaking EX FIREBALL. He has Demonflip like us but his is safe, faster, and just better. Plus he has the teleport that he may use at his own sweet leisure, OR mix that shit up with an INVINCIBLE REGULAR HP-SRK and cancel it with FADC, and STILL have the upper hand.

Sakura can loop her Tatsus on us, but at least she doesn’t have a FREE ENTRY to our close-range zone.

Blanka is tricky but he has to spend EX to fly past our fireballs, which can be punished if he fails. plus he kind of carries the lag-syndrome where he gets trickier online…

** when you Kongo 24/7, the opponent has to either use an armor-breaker to constantly attack you, OR he is forced to pause and reconsider, which means the ball is in your court and you’re free to make a good move. if they begin to throw they’re open to neutral jump HP to fuck-'em-combo.

Guy is another bad match-up IMO, because of how easy it is for him to maneuver around us. EX Tatsu is almost a no-go IMO, I’ll rather use LK Tatsu. We can’t defend ourselves when he RUNS towards us, because our EX Tatsu will probably miss, and net us an unfair max-damage punish.

The truth of the matter is they have already made a proper Gouken. Shin Gouken is pretty much what Gouken should be. He should just have multiple hitting fireballs and that palm should be really fast like that. Maybe scale back his damage on some things to balance it out. Shin Gouken in action makes you say ya that’s a Master.

He’s also the fastest way to get Gouken banned like good ole Sf4 Vanilla, only this time for a good reason :3
