Ya that thing saved my ass to agaisnt a guy who kept going above me half the time.
By experience, Jaguar tooth isn’t safe by block… so I usually use vertical jump + mixups if they blocked it.
Or HK or Throw.
jaguar tooth’s safety depends on which one you use, and where you hit them. as far as i know, hk and mk can be comboed from after hit if you hit at the very end of it, and are both safe on block in the same circumstances. lk i believe is the same way, but they’d have to be like right in your grill anyway.
as far as mixups, it depends entirely on who you’re fighting. if you’re fighting a grappler, you’re best option is almost always a neutral jump. all of the grapplers are easily comboed from a neutral jump into serious damage, and the only one you really have to worry about is t. hawk because his ex dp can catch you as it’s got a nice upward trajectory. other than that, his options are basically the same. tick throw, tick crossover jump, tick hit confirm bnb, block and bait, or if it’s a new opponent and it’s the 1st time in a match that this comes up, sometimes i’ll ex rising jaguar just to put some fear in them and let them know when they block a jaguar tooth, they just gotta wait and hope they guess right.
Against blanka you can punish blanka balls with reversal lk jk and with ultra 1(already mentioned). Slide isnt very safe so just try to block it and punish. Vega hasn’t been any trouble for me. Maybe you could describe more in depth what moves are causing you trouble?
It’s not the speed, it’s the mobility. And it’s not that so much that beats Adon, but rather all of those characters have better priority, especially Vega. Have you ever tried a footsie game with Blanka? You might as well be throwing yourself face-first into his attacks.
Dee Jay, Juri, T.Hawk, they all have moves that can cover a lot of ground in a hurry, and that messes up Adon’s entire game. He’d be okay if he could footsie them, but he can’t.
That would be me mentioning it. lol.
I’ve been trying it on others like Boxer, Guile, Guy, and T.Hawk so far but it doesnt seem to work like it does on Cody.
I have a feeling Adon’s going to have a fucked up matchup list. I feel like he does great against characters with good to bad normals, but characters like Chun Li who already have badass normals don’t care about adon, haha.
And characters with good air mobility, like fuckin vega, who keeps hitting me out of any strength jaguar tooth with his wall dive that hits on the way up. Or Ibuki who’s weird ass hitbox lets her just get pushed by my jaguar tooth instead of getting hit by it.
Yeah man… I’m starting to agree too…
Don’t even get me started against Bison… <_< and Crossup Ken whores…
I’m not too concerned with shotos even though I don’t have good wakeup options, because I can still play my game when I’m standing. But I just can’t play my game against Chun. But that’s no reason to give up, only motivation to focus on the matchups he’s really hurting in.
Also, Blanka ball > adon
Not sure if this has been posted yet (didn’t see it in the Balrog section), but st. mk will beat Balrog’s cr. lp clean from the right distance.
Gonna post some videos when i can but against dudley c.MP and s.HK can zone him to death.
on jumpins s.MP j.MP dp can all work depending on ranges. he can c.HP on reaction to Jag Tooth but it trades sometimes.
Lately I’ve been using a really deep J. HP as a meaty, and it’s been stuffing the heck out of any character that doesn’t have an invincible DP or other reversal, such as Dudley, Juri and Makoto.
I was reading other characters matchups threads to see what strategies they were devising against adon, and one useful tidbit I found is that makoto can’t karakusa adon out of his forward dash. maybe its the hitbox on the command grab and adons lowered hitbox when dashing, or maybe his forward dash has throw invinceability. It’d be a much bigger advantage if his forward dash is invinceable to throws, but in the meantime, that definetly helps the makoto matchup.
Labbed it: its makoto and adons hitboxes. Tried the dash against makoto, abel, ibuki, thawk, and zangief all spamming their command grabs. It only worked with mak.
s.:hp: is great AA against Akuma, it ruined my friends vortex attemps. It hit both sides very well.
Didn’t work so well against T. Hawk.
Any tips against cammy?
I am free to any half-competent Guile
is it just me or is it the character?
Zangief is difficult too, but Guile, eek
Ok I agree with Adon having a bad match up list, but there are ways around it. The way I see it is that Adon will be a shenanigan based character. I’m already starting to do dumb stuff to throw my opponent off because Adon specials are weak in terms of invincibility and priority.
And about Guile…I think it’s the character. I honestly believe Guile is the best character now. He has great normals and great defense…:shake: something that is a bit of a weakness for a Adon player
I’m a much better guile player in super vs. 4
I think they really did improve him THAT much.
Some Guy match up notes
-He can do his command air throw out of ALL your specials. Air JK, JK, Rising Jaguar on start up, and Jaguar tooth (almost anytime if your playing against someone with great reactions)
-He can’t back dash against you or else that is a free rising jaguar
-Watch your cross ups when he has meter because his EX tatsu hits both sides
-Crouching fierce works well against bushin flip. I also tried close Roundhouse but that move is totally unreliable most of the time
-When Guy is in the corner…HE IS DANGEROUS. He can set you up with his target combo reset/vortex (it puts you in the corner). In those instances I will dash under the bushin flip out of the corner or crouch firece, but he has options, he can also do command slide or tatsu so you have to react to whatever he does.
-Mix up your throw game and blockstrings. I feel Adon has a good throw game and a good throw at that. Do cr. LK, cr. LP, cr. LP, walk up throw or f. mp(overhead). Jump MK (cross up or not) throw or go into a block string
-If the match gets close use normals, Adon has good pokes, and play it safe, Standing roundhouse, standing fierce etc.
-Last thing if Guy has ultra 2 and this also goes for any grapple Ultra (Ibuki, Gief, Hakan etc.) Never do EX jaguar tooth. You can get punished by reversal ultra. I tried many times to jump out and you can’t. Guy’s ultra 2 is an easy ultra to jump out of on reaction but something about EX JT makes it easy for Guy to do reversal Ultra.
Hell, I’m thinking of switching to Guile just because of the new alt outfit.
Against Guile, it is all about the footsies. Spacing is extremely important, because while Guile’s doing his standing normals, he’s not charging a Flash Kick, and a tricky Jaguar Kick can catch him off guard. You can bait off that, or go back to the footsies.
