So, how are you guys feeling about doing a jump in and baiting the throw with a lk ia jk?
I’ve been doing this a little bit and it’s been working for me. I’m not to sure about making it a staple in my gameplay yet, seems good, but something just doesn’t click. This would be of course after ticking them off a j. lk a few times. However the crouch tech just kills everything. I think much like bison and ken, Adon could have been an amazing character if it weren’t for crouch tech. (vanilla bison, of course. haha) T_T
Block, EX rising jaguar out (you’ll land far away). Focus and dash or just plain forward dash if their crossup is not timed perfectly meaty.
B)Gief Splash
A world of hurt. Bad position to be for all characters that aren’t akuma. Either EX RJ out if you’re feeling very lucky, block the splash then HK rising jaguar reversal and FADC it (MK and LK are vulnerable to throws), block the splash then backdash/jump away etc. You just have to try really hard to never get there.
C)Honda AssSplash
Focus the 2nd hit.
D)Vega’s numerous assholie wall attacks
Mid vegas: Focus it for free. After eating a huge combo he’ll think twice. Good vegas will try to land the throw so you should move around a bit before focusing to throw them off. Annoying to deal with but the mixup is in your favor I think as one focus combo could turn the match. Pay attention which side he end up on, If it’s behind you you should backdash and you won’t get a combo.
Everytime i play Bison I get the feeling he’s just laughing at me the whole time. Any answer to his s.mk poke? I can’t get in on Bison at all because of that damn poke.
Standing mp is really the only thing I know of that can counter pokes, but you actually have to be outside poke range for it to work, and even if it does work, Bison is lightyears away and you won’t gain any momentum.
Use HK jag kick as recommended. Depending on the location of the screen, I think you can also use JT but I think he had to be in the middle of the screen or something like that (one of those rare escape moments).
You can’t play a normal war with chun and bison, no chars really can. Jaguar kicks should keep him from throwing too much pokes I think, however good bisons are rare I haven’t met one that scares me as adon. Most just use him cause he’s kinda braindead and don’t put too much effort.
Don’t rely on st.mp tho, not sure why anyone would recommend this. Your best pokes are far HK, c.MP, far MK and your 3 frame low jab. far MP and HP are decent but secondary.
Is the front page for this thread ever going to get updated?
I’m having trouble with turtle guiles, but dont feel like trawling through the whole thread right now…
Good advice so far on the Bison and Chun matchups. I’ve found s.short to work well as a whiff punisher to most of Bison’s normals especially his s.mk. Not much can beat Adon’s s.short since it’s 4 frames and it does 40 damage which is good for a short. s.round house is good from max range since there are very few normals that can reach that far. S.fierce is good against chun at about s.short’s range. Just watch for her sweep. If you see her sweeping alot r.jk it and you’ll go over it and beat it.
Also, you can go over projectiles consistently with mk jk so make sure it’s used against projectile characters. Get that reaction time down. Against Guile ex jk is needed some times because of it’s full prjectile inv. and it stops the guile from down charging after boom. Low fierce and low strong beat every standing feirce or standing move period that Guile has. whiff punish his low forward dont try to beat it.
Yeah! That’s specifically because they’re rivals, it’s so badass! When I saw his dash in trailers, I hoped you could duck under fireballs, but it’s def just for Sagat matchups.
So you can mk jk over low tiger shots and dash under high tiger shots? Man this match up is going to be looking sooo awesome. You can advance forward after any tiger shot! I can’t believe I never tried to dash under a high tiger. I feel I’m strangely over hyped about this but oh well it should be pretty dope.
I’m pretty sure if it’s possible you have to predict. Been trying to dash under in matches and I do nothing but eat tigers in my face. The other player must woder what the fuck I’m doing.
I imagine it also has to do with the speed of the projectile. An HP Tiger Shot will pass over Adon faster than LP.
The thing is, are you really gaining more of an advantage than just FADC? I think you’re better off absorbing the fireball and gaining some meter and then dashing forward rather than trying to time it to go under the fireball and end up in the exact same position.
yeah that dash goes under some other things too, you guys should test stuff. I was charging a FA once and i saw akuma hurricane kick, when it got close I dashed under it. Felt epic.
I’ve been doing this so much lately, too. I totally agree with booda about just absorbing for meter, but dashing under the fireball does look cool as hell. haha
Is anyone else having trouble with Rose? I’m getting out-poked and having a very tough time handling her soul sparks. The only option I can find for them is MK JK or U1. HK tooth flies right into them and taunt can’t go over them.
Love love love fighting Ibukis, I did not see that matchup going in Adon’s favor.
For the spark, a well timed hk ia jk will go right over it and let you combo into a sweep for a solid knockdown. Mk ia jks will stuff her cr. mp pressure. A lot of roses like for you to block a drill, then they go for the ex drill, you can punish the ex drill with a st. hk at close range. I actually need to look more into this match, but this is all I have from a set I had with the ross I go to ranbats with.
I can totally agree with the ibuki match, though. Not that bad at all.
edit
Punish lk drills on block with a reversal lk rj.
I don’t feel like writing long strats until next week however I’ll share my experience with blanka because most are having trouble vs him. This isn’t foolproof or anything, it’s just what I’ve been doing.
vs Blanka: AKA who has more dedication to turtle that shit.
The blanka player most likely wants to turtle, you have to turtle harder. Basically he doesn’t have safe approaches and you do with jagkicks. If you poke he will want do ball as it beats most of the things you could do. Punish him of course with lk JK. 130 damage everytime. When you shut down his balls, his options get reduced, now he will have to use his not so stellar pokes. Nothing you can’t handle. If you have the lead his approaches will be either faking the lp ball into throw, so learn the distance for that, sit at that distance and try to bait him into doing lp ball, then throw him as he recovers. You’ll either throw him or tech, doesn’t matter, they will figure that this option is useless against you now. There may be something they could do to counter that but I haven’t seen it so far, I either throw the mediocre blankas or tech against those with good timing. Maybe offline it is easier to throw them out of the recovery. Hops can be jabbed/c.mp-ed or whathever so they shouldn’t be much of a concern. Then comes jumpins.
It is imperative that you do not let him jump. If you let him jump you will have to face his tick throws, his crossup bullshit and his post blocked electricity advantage, this is not good for you.
Even if you whiff a poke, it doesn’t matter, if you see him in the air as you’re recovering input HK jaguar kicks anyway. If you recover he eats it, if you’re still in the animation and have to eat the jump in you’d have eaten it anyway. If you were maining a character without a SRK type move before, let go that habit of “he jumped over my poke I have to block the jumpin”. Now he can’t jump, can’t ball and can’t hop. Start chipping with jaguar kicks, and start building a little bit of offense and mixups but still stay in a dirty turtle mindset.
If he gains the lead he will turtle so stay calm, don’t rushdown, approach slowly, try to create an opening but don’t overdo it.
That’s how I play the matchup. So far everytime I lost against blankas I fucked up ball punishes or let them jump and had to deal with mixups, which has everything to do with my reflexes. I played a few decent blankas but maybe I’m missing some things. Feel free to add or correct me, or even post counters to what I posted.
