So I have a quick question, does Adon have any true block string?
can one of the adon players here explain to me why his lk upkick/uppercut is throwable but the others arent?
Do you guys ever use that one? What is the reasoning behind using each of the uppercuts? Also, how do you deal with Adons pressure in general? I dont know that much about this character unfortunately, and he seems really really strong and I always hear people say hes not that good. Im not sure what his weaknesses are (chun player).
Ah, ok. So IAJK->sweep should work. I can get IAJK->cr.mk, but only barely. Got some work to do I guess.
@Necro: I like the horizontal range (and lack of vertical range) on the lk upkick. It can actually catch some backdashes, which is super silly. Also might be useful if you want an out and they cross you up - it goes pretty far. Otherwise, if you just want to blow something up, use heavy or EX.
Actually it is a bit silly that the LK RJ can be thrown … it does only have lower body invincibility and therefore has very limited use as a reversal.
LK RJ --> Combo Ender / Juggle Followup
MK RJ --> FADC RJ because first hit does the most damage / Safe jump RJ / Juggle after FADC or corner juggles
HK RJ --> Reversal
EX RJ --> Combo Ender / Reversal / Juggle Followup / Jack of all Trades
Adon in USF4 is in my opinion a lot weaker than in 2012 … DWU is a big issues and the JK & IAJK nerfs are huge !!! His main problem is that he always has to take risks to get damage and his overall damage-output is not that great compared to other chars … for sure there are some MU where he got some high damage combos but only after the right read or mix-up.
If you are a Chun player you should not have so much problems against Adon … it is in my opinion in Chuns favor in USF4 (slightly).
Chun can punish all JKs (beside the HK JK) with Super … even the IAJK if you block high. Her neutral Jump HK nullifies Jaguar Tooth (Wall dive) as a special move. Chuns st.HP/HK are killer buttons against JKs and Adon pressure … st.MP is godlike against Adon and her cr.MP can low-profile all JKs. Chun can basically FA back dash all jump ins … Adon must read if you will release or back dash because Adons DP does not get the back dash and LK RJ does not have invincibility.
Chun got very good AA buttons against all jump ins from Adon … close MP is very good.
The time Chun gets Super & Ultra 2 the MU becomes highly in Chuns favor … because Adon does not win the footsie battle & cant use JKs/JTs anymore … if you have good AA with Chun it is an uphill battle for Adon.
Hey i’m pretty new to the game and decided that I want to main Adon. I was wondering if there was any like guide videos, write ups that could get me started with learning him. I know that with Ryu there was that air video that covered a bunch of different beginner and intermediate things about the character. Also, when I was poking around other character sub forums while trying to decide what character to play I saw other characters had extensive guides about the character.
Thanks for any help or suggestions!
So I haven’t seen much of Adon since Ultra, minus Bee since that’s his main. Is Adon practically dead now with the new characters and way of the game? I would figure someone with solid footsies like himself would stay at the top or rise higher, but I haven’t seen much like I said. Very curious to know if he’ll last against the rest of the cast and can be brought to the top. I remember Bee saying he might drop Adon for someone new, but that was before Ultra came out. Have not heard/read of an interview with him since.
I don’t think Adon has ever been a very popular character, and since Ultra hit, Adon got a lot weaker.
Sure he’s still a solid character, but he got nothing to compensate for the nerfs, so Adon now has some horrendous match-ups.
Which is why you see Gamerbee switch to alternate characters.
I would now consider Adon as a top 15-20 character, but that’s just my opinion.
Ouch… That doesn’t make me feel any better about considering him as a main again. I didn’t realize he got weaker with the nerfs either. I’ll have to look at his change logs.
Quick question about IAJK, because that seems to be the biggest learning curve of the character. I’m buffering QCB and going into up, but the delay seems like quite a tough timing to get down and actually pinpoint, any tips on how to pinpoint the timing for the K input?
EDIT**
Scratch that, I’ve got it down around 90% in training mode now, I’ll go train it during matches. But I do have a more valid question regarding IAJKs as whole, can you just rush out the motion as fast as possible or does it require a certain timing? I can land it whilst doing the motion averagely paced but I can never land it when I get the motion out as fast as possible, Adon gets into the air too quickly and makes the K input impossibly difficult to time consistently. Is this going to be an issue for me if I want to play Adon effectively? I’d save I’m only saving around half a second doing it at my fastest.
Hi, there is a thread in here where I explain the basics and methods of IAJK. Just search for IAJK.
The reason why you are struggling a bit is the delay between the motion and the kick input … there are a couple of frames where you cant activate the AJK (it is a height restriction) … this is the only reason why IAJK are so hard to pull off. You need to get used to the timing.
You can rush the motion but you will still need the short delay before pressing the button … if a jumping HK come out … you are pressing the button to early … if the AJK is to high you are pressing to slow … you can try to plink the IAJK with a punch button !!!
So who does Adon lose to now with the Ultra nerfs?
Well … I think Adon can fight nearly the whole cast and does not really have a 7:3 MU … hard MU are (in my opinion) Gief, Hawk, Ibuki, Bison, Chun, Honda, Poison.
But this are my bad MU … Gamerbee thinks Chun is not a bad MU but I do think she has very good tools to beat Adon … her buttons are perfect to zone him out … her neutral jump is an all around great tool againt Adon … well and for sure her walkspeed.
