the best anti-air for a cross up is most probably close standing hp. he does an elbow.
adon actually has good anti-air normals. cl. hk, cl. hp. far standing mp, close mk…its just not gdlk like sakura’s cr.hp.
his aa normals has weird, funky hitboxes and requires really really strict timing.
we should all spend more time in training mode setting the dummy to record, doing the opponent’s cross ups on adon, hit playback and get dat anti-coss up cl. hp timing down pact.
also, one thing i’ve noticed watching+playing high level players is countering cross ups by just dashing. somebody tries a cross up, dash/backdash outta there.
OOPS!
i almost forgot why i came here to post.
2 days ago…i noticed the obvious.
that Adon is the OG of trollface.
anyone know if Adon has any unblockable setups?
I am rubbish with figuring new stuff out and I dont think ive seen gamerbee do anything like that?
Would be interesting as when I watched some CEO footage they mention there are quite alot in this game now…
Heyy welcome =) heh, im new here myself so how-dee do =)
Judging from your sig, you play as akuma/ryu correct? For a jaguar kick, it’s the same dragon punch motion, only reverse. Where a normal dragon punch motion(on P1 side as an example) would be :dp: P, it would be :d::db:K, and opposite for the P2 side of course.
The LK jaguar kick travels the most horizontal across the screen, it’s the slowest of the bunch but it’s usually safe on block, usually lol
The MK jaguar kick makes a slight “arc” when executed. This and the HK are the ones you’ll end up using most to keep pressure on the opponent. It’s also good to know the MK version can punish fireballs on reaction at a certain distance by flying over the fireball, however its not invincible and requires spacing to be pulled off properly.
The HK jaguar kick travels the most vertical. The HK version, as the MK, is used for pressure and the HK is the one you’ll use for corner pressure. The jaguar kick can be canceled into just like any other special move, such as a cr.lp, cr.mp, st.cl.mk, etc.
The EX jaguar kick flies in somewhat the same motion as the MK jaguar kick, however its 100% invincible to projectiles and scores a hard knockdown.
I figured that stuff out yeah. It still doesn’t make any kind of freaking sense. Why does the light ground kick travel farthest and light air kick the shortest distance? And the inputs? Seriously? Could be quarter circle forward or probably even quarter circle back for both or something. Why the hell would the ground and air versions need different inputs?
I cant answer why specifically capcom did that, but i can only assume it’s probably because of the different “properties” of the ground JK, and the air JK. The ground JK’s can’t combo, but they can break armor, do more damage(130) and can be canceled off of normals on the ground.
The air JK’s however do less damage(80) and don’t break armor, but they can start combos. It’s also good to note you can do Instant air Jaguar kicks (iajk’s for short) the second you leave the ground for pressure, albeit it’s sometimes hard to execute when you want it most. There’s also the fuzzy guard guide thread you should take a look at, if there’s anything that’ll throw off (character specific) opponents, its that.
People have been asking the input thing for ages, a qcb for jks would have been fine imo, but this is just the way they are done.
Imo Adon is quite a simple character, this is about as complicated as it gets imo
I’ve never personally questioned why they did the inputs the way they did between the air and ground JK’s, as long as I’m able to execute what i want to execute i’m good lol
I’m slighly mistyfied by why they changed the motions, but considering how often I do walk-up cr.MK xx QCF+P with Ryu and get Shoryuken instead, I’m actually really thankful!
I’m starting to get the timing and motion for the IAJK’s about 70% of the time, but I know I’m not ready to implement it into a real match. My mind can’t calm itself down like it is in training mode. But… When “learning” Adon, I have everything jotted down in my notebook from pokes to basic combos, to frame traps, etc. What I don’t have is how exactly do I “learn” him? Like is there a training regimen or something I could follow?
mmmm. naw man. just keep in mind that adon is a shoto killer. he was designed in the alpha series specifically to kill the shotos in that series.
so in other words he’s a punisher of mistakes.
but you have to dictate the match by making your opponent screw up and guess what you are about to do. he has ridiculous recovery of of his tooth and kick…which leads to a host of options for you and only guesses from your opponent.
try throwing after j.kick and tooth. to open up your opponent. even if they tech it…the next time you toss out a hk tooth or j.kick…they’ll be guessing tech throw…but you’ll be r.jaguar. or cr. jab. or vertical jump mk/hk.
after that they won’t know what to do.
adon is about making your opponent guess wrong and punishing those mistakes. thats the point of his gdlk recovery after his special moves, his great wake up, and his footsie domination.
summary:
just remember to never ever be be predictable with him(spamming) and remember to do mix ups…and you’ll do fine. oh, and do everything possible to overwhelm your opponent in the first 40 seconds of every round coz one thing i’ve noticed is that if the clock gets past 40 seconds in a given round…your chances of winning go down.
the more time goes of the clock…the less likely you’re gonna win that round coz you are:
1-not dictating the flow of the match…which you absolutely gotta do with adon
2-not doing your job in making them guess wrong.
Adon is hard to read/predict due to his quickness. so you have to be unpredictable by mixing it up…to keep them guessing…is what i’m trying to say.
thats his strategy. thats all you need to learn about him.
That’s actually a very descriptive answer that I greatly appreciate. I guess I should start watching all types of Adon matches to see what is possible/the best thing to do in certain situations. Currently I’m really trying to get his cr. jab/LK into Rising Jaguar links down. It’s like 70% there, but in a match I can’t do it at all. I wish I knew how to have my brain get used to playing under pressure and still keeping a cool head to think. Any suggestions in that subject?
