Adon AE changes for 2012 Edition

I agree, we’re so small in numbers that we should really stay on them. I feel like Capcom always f*cks up the unpopular characters because they think nobody cares. I was browsing the Rose forum and they’re really rallying together to try and make something happen. We should do the same.

“Increased hittable area.” In what direction? By how much? Does anyone know? It’s one thing to play theory fighter, but to say Adon is going to suck because he was nerfed when you don’t even know HOW he was nerfed is irrational and overemotional. How can you possibly be formulating theories about how it’s going to change his matchups when you don’t even know what the changes are?

Nerfed his only advantage!? First of all, Adon has plenty of advantages aside from JKs, but more importantly, there are some matchups where JKs are just plain useless and you have to stick to footsies. Have you ever played against someone who just neutral jumps over and over? They’re looking for JKs to land on. So instead of being predictable and throwing them out when everyone expects, you have to rely on his OTHER ADVANTAGES.

The REAL complaint here is that they’ve made no changes in Adon’s bad matchups. They’ve paid no special attention to matchups where his tools fail catastrophically. Even if they said “no new changes,” that would still be just as bad, because it’s ignoring the fact that Adon has to play like a character who has no moves at all against certain opponents. He just has pokes and a walk speed. That’s boring. That’s weak. That’s not Adon.

In fairness, A2 Adon pretty just gives his opponent CCs for free if they’re half-way competent.

Take it as you like, the nerf may turn out to be minor, but why should that matter? a nerf is a nerf, and a nerf to Adon is unwarranted and unnecessary! especially on jks which can be punished on reaction…

JK’s are ONLY useless in matches against grapplers who can counter you on hit or block. If someone is getting beat by people neutral jumping then they need to learn to space the JK.

I do agree on the bad matchups though, it does feel like they keep buffing gief and leave Adon as is, that match must be approaching 7-3 now…
We have no choice but to band together and try and feedback to the balance team, if we dont then nothing will change.
Fact is I watched the NSB loc test stream for 3 hours this morning and saw no Adons at all, yes there is likely to be other setups and probably an Adon or two about, however they did have 2 streams showing and he wasnt played on either. There do not seem to be many Adon players, our forums is one of the quietest and our main representation at the highest level has considered swapping character or actually does.

I guess the jk medium is different in AE.
With the nerf, it will be even more difficult to punish a neutral jump with jk.

The worst thing on top of that is that his worst match-up aren’t nerf but buff (Honda, Boxer, Hawk, Gief …)
The only thing that we could be happy is the nerf of the three S tiers, small consolation.

What’s the best wayt to send him message? If I “MENTION” him in a tweet does it appear on his page or is there a better way to make sure he sees my message? Not really sure how twitter works I just have it to update shit with my cellphone.

I understand where you’re coming from, but look at it this way. It’s like in 2010 we got a new car. Not the most expensive car in the lot, but a perfectly adequate one with some nice features. Then in 2011 they tell you there’s an upgrade (which they charge you for) and they smash the headlights but give you a jaguar seat cushion. Then in 2012 they give you some fuzzy dice to hang on your rear view mirror, but they put a dent in the hood. You may still be able to get to your destination but it’s a lot harder and a lot less fun. I just want the original car I had in 2011. It wasn’t perfect but it was a lot more fun to drive and a lot easier to get around in.

I just think that jaguar kick isn’t a spammable move in high lvl play, It can be punished hard if you don’t throw it carefully but the fact that they say “hittable hitbox augmented” probably means a standing jab or something ridiculous can stop it or that it trades with dumb normals.

But regardless of what they mean with that phrase, the move had nothing wrong in first place, it’s because of scrubs who complained among the lines of “I can’t focus on Adon and his jaguar kicks hit me all the time! booo” that they changed it first place. It’s obvious.

I haven’t seen a single top player say Adon’s jk needed a nerf, not a single one. If you spam it you are gonna get punished, what pisses me off is that the nerfs are done taking into account things that esentially dumb down the game (another example would be the things they did to blanka balls, and I hate blanka)

Jaguar kicks were fine, don’t touch them.

On the other hand we have an overhead that combos, but only on standing opponets.
And a grabbable shoryuken. (unless this was fixed I’m not very up to date with this beta testing thingies)

And about Ryu… I guess you haven’t suffered the full screen hado chip in a while. Ryu got buffed and that’s a fact.

Close HK into a command normal.
Buff his overhead massively (more advantage on hit on crouching opponents to +4, +5 on standing and lower the start up frames by like 5, that really is a massive amount of start up).
And just in general buff normals, when I use Adon I feel like all I do is S.HK, S.MK and C.MP. :
Don’t know how much the Rising Jaguars were buffed but hopefully it’s more consistent in combos.

I think other than the overhead Adons normals are great. I use most of them in most games.
The only match ups where I feel his normals are limited is against characters like gief. Admittedly I use s.hk, cr.mp, st.mk and cr.hp the most but st.lk and st.mp are nice aswell.

So, now we will all have to play really smart. No spamming jag kick (good players will punish if they have a reversal window anyway) and still no spamming jag tooth(Uuhh, same thing). That means that it’s time to use that faster, smaller, more difficult to use air jag kick to punish with combos and bait reversals so people wont beat ground jag kick without hesitation. And time to use ground jag kicks primarily for punishing fireballs instead of throwing it out randomly to beat normals. Just sucks that it’s still negative on block even after this nerf. I wont ever be using Adon against Gief or Thawk unless I want to sit and get SPD’d every time I press a button.

So I take it the beta changes are the last of em?

I think there is like, one more round of changes.

The thing that annoys me the most about this is that its a nerf with no compensation. I dont care what people think regarding 10 damage, but that jk was the only one we could use and usually come off okay against grapplers. Now you are right, there is no point in using Adon against them. I am just glad I use Oni and Bison as back up characters as imo both have strong tools against grapplers.

I think its ridiculous to expect Adon players to have no safe block strings and yet weaken his best and only remotely safe special. You can say ajks are going to be safe as they are so fast, but without jks to make people fear Adons ability to break focus! people will focus plenty and bam there goes another of Adons strength, the fear he puts into people who have good focus attacks… sigh… maybe im just too crap, but I really am not looking forward to how big this nerf could be.

I almost never use adon’s overhead. Its so slow. And combo after hitting a standing opponent is so :rofl:

Cody is getting a similar “buff”, where you can now link lk after an overhead (1 frame link!) but only after hitting a standing opponent. I suppose you can use it to break focus since they are 2 hits but c’mon, to me its a BS “buff”.

I dont know if you are on muchNegroDinamita but Capcom have said in a recent blog about opinions on Unity. Maybe you could update the first post with some of the suggested changes from different people. I added a post at the end which I feel sums up alot of opinions and also adds in some of the others. It is by no means a full list of what people feel Adon should have but perhaps if you updated the first post, maybe even the title with something to catch their eye? let me know if I can help in any way, ill do what I can when I have time :slight_smile:
